For a greater understanding of the history of Islam, it is necessary to realize that Islam has a

central role in many other faiths. The Prophet Muhammad was the first one to start it. His
parents, Abdullah and Amina Qureshi were members of the family. Muhammad was raised by
his uncle Abu Talib after the death of his parents when he was a youngster. He was deprived of
public services in his early years. He used to help his father pasture camels and goats when he
was a kid. Muhammad's intellect was not content with the things of this world. He began to think
more religiously. He spent hours contemplating supernatural power while sitting in the mountain
cave of Hera near Mecca, where he pondered. Muhammad was meditating there when he got a
message from Allah via Gabriel to spread the word of God.
