Define the following terms:


 Inspection
- Examine each body framework using vision, smell, and hearing to detect
common conditions and abnormalities. As you inspect each body structure,
look for shading, size, area, development, surface, evenness, smells, and
sounds.
Examples:

 Percussion
- trying to tap your fingers or hands rapidly and pointedly against parts of
the body of the patient to help you determine organ borders, distinguish
organ shape and position, and evaluate if an organ is strong or loaded up
with liquid or gas.
Examples:

 Palpation
- consists of making contact with the patient using various parts of your
hands and varying levels of strain. Since your hands are your devices,
keep your fingernails short and your hands warm. Touch the most
sensitive areas last.

 Auscultation
- includes using a stethoscope to listen for different lung, heart, and gut
sounds.
