Objectives of the Project

This project intends to develop an automated information system as which a solution to
a labor-intensive and error-prone manual process. The proposed system is compatible with the
sole proprietary business entity that focuses on retail merchandising.

Specifically, this project expects to achieve the following:

1. Increase productivity
A business owned and run by one individual must be flexible at all times.
Transitioning to an automated system can help improve and optimize the overall
business workflow.

2. Accurate data and consistency

In order to yield profit and financial gain, records must be accurate and
consistent. Often, this is the problem with manual systems leading to wasted
effort and bad decisions. We can eliminate human errors and produce reliable
data with our proposed system.

3. Availability and transparency

Having access to tracking business records anytime helps the business owner
stay informed.

Statement of the Problem

There is a tremendous need for inventory management systems in retail businesses.
One of the most common problems that small businesses encounter is inventory management.
According to eSwap Global (2021), some inventory management-related challenges for small
businesses include a lack of technology, strategies, and remote coordination. Inventory control
becomes complicated when products of different types and suppliers get involved. Small
business owners sometimes have so many functions to perform that inventory checkups
become the last concern. Without an actual image of inventory levels, decision-making
becomes highly uncertain.

As long as a retail business operates, it must implement the best possible practices and
systems for its inventory management.
Location
Pawsibilities by Thirdy is a sole e-commerce proprietorship retail business based in
Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. It provides products to customers from Dumaguete, Sibulan,
Valencia, and nearby cities and municipalities. Pawsibilities by Thirdy also sells and ships its
products nationwide through the Shopee e-commerce platform. A physical store location is
currently in its planning stages.

Scope and Limitation

The proposed system aims to provide beneficial results by:

● Providing the management with easy access to reliable business-related data

● Allowing the inventory manager to monitor inventory quantities easily and schedule
restocks
● Providing the sellers access to inventory-related data to aid them in marketing and
product sales
● Giving the office manager an edge in retail business inventory control
● Monitoring transparency and accuracy of inventory inflow and outflow of products
● Providing the sellers a user-friendly system that allows them to quickly and efficiently
add, edit, delete and update records related to the business’ inventory (e.g., products,
suppliers, and stock quantity).

Limitation
● This project is limited to the basic needs and functions in Pawsibilities by Thirdy’s regular
transactions.
