Write the similarities or/and differences on the definition of teachers in the

Education Act of 1982 and The Code of Ethics for professional Teachers.

The Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers, defined teachers, provides in the
PREAMBLE that "Teachers are duly licensed professionals who possess dignity and
reputation with high moral values as well as technical and professional competence. In
the practice of their noble profession, they strictly adhere to, observe, and practice this
set of ethical and moral principles, standards, and values.”

Furthermore, the Code dictates in Article III, Section 3 that "Every teacher shall
merit reasonable social recognition for which purpose he shall behave with honor and
dignity at all times and refrain from such activities as gambling, smoking, drunkenness
and other excesses, much less illicit relations," and in Article XI, Section 3 "A teacher
shall maintain at all times a dignified personality which could serve as model worthy of
emulation by learners, peers, and others."

The Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers provided in Article IV, Section. 2,
that "Every teacher shall uphold the highest possible standards of quality education,
shall make the best preparation for the career of teaching, and shall be at his best at all
times in the practice of his profession." Likewise in Education Act of 1982, Section. 16
(2) provides that “Every teacher shall be accountable for the efficient and effective
attainment of specified learning objectives in pursuance of national development goals
within the limits of available school resources.” To put it another way, a teacher is
supposed to be efficient and competent in his academic obligations at all times.
Otherwise, a teacher who has repeatedly demonstrated his inability to accomplish his

tasks and obligations efficiently and within a common performance level should be
removed from the classroom.

The Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers provided in Article VIII, Section. 1,
that "A teacher has the duty to determine the academic marks and the promotion of
learners in the subject they handle. Such determination shall be in accordance with
generally accepted procedure of evaluation and measurement. In case of any
complaint, teachers concerned shall immediately take appropriate action, observing the
process." Also, Section 16 (5) of Education Act of 1982 mandates that, “Every teacher
shall refrain from making deductions in students' scholastic ratings for acts that are
clearly not manifestations of poor scholarship.” The Code of Ethics for Professional
Teachers provided in Article VIII, Section. 8, that “A teacher shall not inflict corporal
punishment on offending learners nor make deductions from their scholastic ratings as
a punishment for acts which are clearly not manifestations of poor scholarship.”
Meaning to say, any increase or decrease in a subject's grade for co-curricular
activities, attendance, or misconduct is not permitted. Academic grades should be
determined only on the basis of demonstrated proficiency, not on extraneous factors
such as behavior or attendance. As a result, it is not a question of teachers' discretion in
assigning grades to students, but rather a clear requirement for teachers to provide
student academic marks entirely on the basis of scholastic preference.

These are some of the similarities or/and differences I noticed in the Code of
Ethics for Professional Teachers and Education Act of 1982, that will ensure that the
students will received a quality education, specifically ensuring that teachers are
competent and efficient in their work and ensure that students' academic performance is
properly and fairly evaluated.
