2.1. Rubber Gaskets
Techvision is a leading, manufacturer-direct, one-stop source for all your Standard
and Custom Rubber Gasket and Sealing requirements. Aside from our industry
leading quality and service, Techvision handles all types and grades of rubber
materials and employs all types of processes in order to get the job done right of
high quality, on time, and in the most cost effective way.

Why is the use of different processes important? Most fabricated rubber products
can be made through more than one basic process, but that doesn't mean that one
is just as good as another. In fact, we commonly work around "easier" ways to get
a job done because, for instance, we don't want a customer to buy an expensive
mold to get a few parts that could be done as die cut gaskets or extruding coupled
with secondary vulcanizing or machining operations. In other words, you don't have
to know whether the custom gaskets you need would be better manufactured as
die cut gaskets, extruded rubber seals, or molded rubber gaskets. Our technical
assistance is free, and our knowledgeable staff will consider all possibilities. We
think you'll like how we do our job, and not having to worry about whether your
parts are a die cut gaskets or molded rubber, or especially whether or not they'll
be done right and delivered on time.

Of course, just as we don't approach your part requirements with a biased view on
how to fabricate it, we also don't favor any particular materials. In both
cases, our only bias is towards what works best for you, our customer (or at least
soon-to-be customer...we hope). We won't try to sell you expensive fluoro
elastomer rubber gaskets if your temperature and chemical resistance
requirements don't require it, and even if it does, we won't push a more expensive
variety like Viton ® (unless you insist) if a less costly alternative is available.

2.3. Rubber Seals
Extruded rubber seals can be made in a variety of materials or co-extruded to
achieve the proper balance of fit and function. We can utilize our laminating
process to add pressure sensitive adhesives or the extruded seal can be designed to
snap into place. Rubber seals of following specifications will be available:

Polyurethane Seals

Polyurethane is one of the most commonly used

elastomer in most of the industries, when high
levels of abrasion are present. This abrasion
resistance is combined with high load & impact
bearing capabilities that make polyurethane the
material of choice for a number of machines and
other engineering products.

9
We have various raw materials in this category for different applications. Kindly
contact us for your requirements. These seals are machined as per precision
tolerances on CNC machines.

Wiper Seals

Rod wiper/scrapers effectively wipe and scrape the full 360º circumference of a
reciprocating rod. They are designed to remove road dust, dirt, ice, mud, weld
flash, paint and many other particulates from the rod surface.

They prevent damage to bearings, seals, packing, and rods, thereby reducing or
eliminating contamination of fluids in hydraulic systems.

Rod wiper/scrapers consist of a honed, double spiral,

wiping element of age-hardened beryllium copper
(Rockwell C 40 hardness) surrounded by a synthetic
rubber elastomer. It is designed so that the
beryllium copper element is distended from the
final rod diameter. It is precision honed to an inner-
diameter tolerance of+/- 0.0005". The honing
process guarantees a true circle on the ring inside
diameter and provides a highly polished and knife
sharp edge. In operation, the beryllium copper ring
polishes the rod without damage to the rod's finish.
It is self-sharpening and does not oval, curve, or
feather.

Rod wiper/scrapers are found wherever hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders are used.
They have demonstrated their effectiveness on fork lifts, resistance welders, off-
road machinery, farm equipment, hydraulic presses, foundry machines, and
aircraft landing gear.

2.4. Rubber Diaphragms
Techvision's rubber diaphragms are versatile seals used in a wide range of applications to
handle various fluids, air, and vacuum sealing and flow requirements. Our rubber
diaphragms are custom-designed and engineered to operate for specific pressures and
pressure changes, mechanical requirements, fluid interaction, and dynamic life.

Techvision's rubber diaphragms can be tuned for unique application characteristics through
component and material design, to optimize final assembly performance and cost

Rubber Diaphragms typically function

within the application by transmitting
pressure from one system to another
without exchanging media between the
systems. Techvision diaphragms can also be
designed with integrated valves designed
to seal up to a pressure threshold before
allowing for the system to vent (leak). We
offer 100% in-line computer controlled
pressure testing of diaphragms for critical applications.

Our expertise enables us to supply homogeneous, rubber to metal bonded and fabric
reinforced diaphragms using a combination of injection, compression, transfer, flashless

This kind of rubber linings is mainly used in stone grinding tumblers and ball mills.

13
RUBBER LINING APPLICATION PROCESS:

The process of rubber lining is divided in to the following steps.

1. Preparation of the base surface.

2. Preparation of rubber sheets.

3. Application of the rubber sheets on the metal surface.

4. Vulcanization

5. Testing & inspection

Surface Preparation:
This is very important process for rubber lining. The surface of the metal must be free from
oil, paint, scales, rust etc. This is generally removed with the help of sand blasting/ shot
blasting. After the surface is cleaned, adhesive or bonding agent is applied to surface. Two
or three coats are applied, as adhesion is an important process for rubber lining.

Preparation of rubber sheets:

The rubber compound is manufactured as per the requirements after looking in to the
chemical and other conditions of the process. Rubber sheets are made on calendar machine
in different plies. Lining up to 6 mm thickness can be applied in single layer. If the
thickness is more, it is applied in 2 or more layers. For pipes & fittings extruded rubber
tubes are inserted in the pipes.

Application of rubber sheets:

Un-vulcanized rubber sheets, which are prepared on the machine, are applied on to the
adhesive coated, half dried surface under slight pressure of hand or with a metallic roll as
well as with the help of various lining tools. We have to ensure that no air gets trapped
between the metal surface and rubber sheet. Joints are made levels and joined with help
of knurling tools.

14
Vulcanization:
By and large vulcanization is carried out in an auto clave. This is the process by which
rubber changes from plastic state to elastic state. The temperature and pressure depend
upon the rubber compound and thickness of lining. Large size equipments, which are rubber
lined at site, are vulcanized by open steam as well as by hot water curing, the temperature
is maintained to get the rubber cured and for this method special compound of rubber is to
be manufactured for this process.

Testing and Inspection:

All the rubber-lined items must be tested before and after vulcanization. This is to ensure
that they are free from faults, which might cause failure of the equipment. Visual
inspection in good light is carried out to check mechanical damages blisters and poor joints.
There after spark test with a high voltage is carried out to check mechanical damages, pin
holes, blisters and poor joints. Hardness test is must for rubber lining. Knocking test is also
carried out by an experienced hand with the help of wooden hammer to check whether
there is any poor bonding.

Protection of rubber lining equipments:

The vessel should be stored away from sunlight or it should be covered by tarpaulin or some,
other device. This will avoid direct sunlight, which may affect the surface due to the
presence of ozone. The vessel should be filled up with water when not in use for longer
period.
