Many of us don't

appreciate the
freedom we have -
the freedom of
expression, the
freedom to live
without feeling
unsafe or
threatened, the
freedom to simply be
ourselves. We have
to realise that there
are huge sections of
people who still live
life in fear, in poverty
and with their fair
share of adversities -
without these
freedoms. In my
opinion, equality can
only be achieved by
understanding the
fact that we are all
humans, even if
each one of us is
unique. We must
realise that any
person is just as
human as the next,
that we all are made
up of our emotions
and experiences and
not our physical
features or
ideologies. We are
all united by the
hardships we face
and the milestones
we achieve. Each
individual has an
equal right to live on
the planet as the
others, no matter
what their race,
gender, sexuality or
occupation. Human
rights movements
have gained
momentum
throughout the
years, but there is
still a deep rooted
stigma and
hesitation against
helping the
marginalised. We
must strive to break
the chains that hold
us back from
embracing our fellow
human beings and
treating them as
equals.
