Education is a lifelong process that encourages exploring, raise questions, investigate

issues and seek solutions especially in environmental and social problems. Environmental
education refers to organised efforts to teach about how natural environments function and,
particularly, how human beings can manage their behaviour and ecosystems in order to live
sustainably.

Environmental Education is a process of recognising values and clarifying concepts in
order to develop skills and added tools necessary to understand and appreciate the
interrelationship among man, his culture and his bio-physical surrounding. It creates an overall
perspective, which acknowledges the fact that natural environment and man-made environment
are inter-dependent. It should consider the environment in its totality and should be a continuous
lifelong process beginning at the pre-school level and continuing through all stages. It should be
inter-disciplinary and examine major environmental issues from local, national and international
points of view. It should utilize various educational approaches to teach and learn about and from
the environment with stress on practical activities and first-hand experience. It is through this
process of education that people can be sensitized about the environmental issues
I believe that the main mission or goal of environmental education is to strengthen human and
institutional capacity in nature conservation and environmental protection on a long term basis,
with the help of environment education and awareness activities. Because knowledge creates
awareness, and the right attitude is the prerequisite for sustainable social action. This in essence
is how environment education can pave the way to a sustainable future. It is the solution  to seek
relevant solutions to environmental and social issues. It strives to strengthen individual and
institutional capacity for nature conservation and environmental protection, by promoting
education and awareness within the social structure.
As a future Educators I believe  that improvements are needed in the nation’s public
education system to enhance student learning. Many educational scholars and practitioners agree
that students are not doing well at thinking, reasoning, analyzing, or problem solving. Many
goals of education reform emphasize the need to strengthen core subjects such as math’s,
science, and geography teach across subject areas improve critical thinking and problem-solving
skills and then relate learning in the classroom to the needs and issues of the community.
Environmental education has a tremendous potential to contribute to these goals of education
reform. To sight some examples , it can strengthen teaching in many core subjects, especially
science, because science is the basis for solving many of our environmental challenges. At the
same time, environmental education can promote interdisciplinary teaching because
environmental topics can be addressed from many different perspectives, including scientific,
historical, and cultural. Environmental education can also bring local environmental challenges
into the classroom to improve analysis and problem- solving skills. The final aspect of
environmental education policies, but certainly not least important, is training individuals to
thrive in a sustainable society. In addition to building a strong relationship with nature, we  must
have the skills and knowledge to succeed in a 21st century to become a better place for the next
generation . We ad future educator we must be trained how to effectively teach and incorporate
environmental studies in the present curriculum. On the other hand, the current curriculum must
be trained or re-trained so that we can adapt to the new green economy. Environmental education
policies that fund training programs are critical in educating citizens to prosper in a sustainable
society.
