Probability

Probability is likelihood of the occurrence of any event of chances, or the ratio

of the number of favourable chances to the whole number of chances, favourable and
unfavourable. In other words, probability is how likely something is to happen. The
higher the probability of an event, the more likely it is that the event will occur. When
we’re not sure about the result of an event, we can talk about the probabilities of
certain outcomes. The measuring of probability is on a scale 0 to 1. Probability will
be on 0 if something is never going to happen. If it’s definitely going to happen, the
probability is 1. If it’s likely to happen, or unlikely to happen, the probability is 0,5.

Probabilities cannot be separated from our activities. For examples, the chances
of rain in one day. The chances for raining in that day will be increased if there are
other factors that may support the rain. Another example of probability in our life is
the probability of getting green light in three traffic light in a row. Some streets in
Bandung have a three or four traffic lights along the road. The chances of getting the
green light between four of them is quite small and unlikely.

I always use probability in my daily life. For example, when the day is cloudy, I
always use probability of when and where it will be raining. There are many
possibilities of where it will be rain along the road on my way home. Sometimes it’s
raining in Bandung, but when I come home, it hasn’t raining yet. Another example of
probability in my experience is playing one match in online games. The probability in
one match can be changed anytime. Sometimes, the probability of one team can be
higher than the opponent. But it doesn’t they will win against the opponent.
Sometimes, the opponent will win the match even the probability of itself is unlikely
or impossible to win. Many factors in one match video games can change the chances
like net worth, skills, items, positioning in game, and decision to commit an action. I
have many experience on this case because I always playing video games.

Sometimes, predicting the future is always not perfect because there is no

information about future itself. But with probability, we can look for any possible
possibilities so we can make decision in our future. We can make our decision with
probabilities that we have before. But it doesn’t mean the probability that we make is
happen. Sometimes, we predict wrong with the situation and it’s a normal situation
because probability is about a chance from two sides. Sometimes it’s wrong, and
sometimes it’s correct. Therefore, probability is an important knowledge for human
being because with probability we can deciding which action should we do in one
situation or else and some field use the probability for their project for example
climatology agency and so on.
