To All parents from me: Good Evening! I hope everyone had a great day!
2/22/22
We have our math test tomorrow on Module 8. A study guide was sent home today in your
child's blue folder. If they get the study guide signed and returned tomorrow they get extra
credit on their math test. :)
A few reminders: Sent home in your child's blue folder is a permission slip for your child to
attend swimming lessons at the YMCA in March. Please sign and return this form as soon as
possible. If you have any questions regarding this, please let us know! Kids Heart Challenge
is this Friday the 25. The Lapbook that was sent home is also due on Friday the 25th.

We had a terrific "Twosday" today. I can't wait for the rest of the week! :)

From Parent: 2/22/22 From Parent: So excited about the swimming lessons! Thank you!!

Me: You're Welcome!

From Parent 2/22/22 From Parent: No module 8 study guide in students blue folder.

Me: If it’s not in his blue folder it may be in another folder in his backpack.

Parent: He said he didn't bring it. He also hasn't been using his agenda so we had a talk
about that.

Me: Yes ma’am. We completed the test review today during math time, and the students
were told to put them up to go home and get signed.

I will check his agenda tomorrow. We added some information to go in the agenda for this
week ( the lapbook due Friday, and the Kids Heart Challenge).

student had a really good day today!

I hope you have a good night!

From Parent 2/22/22 From Parent: I only saw the YMCA paper in student’s blue folder last night. The study guide
was not in there

Me: It was in his Bobcats binder. I collected it today.

From Parent: Oh I didn't look in there I just looked in the blue folder I'm sorry

Me: It's okay!

Have a great day!

From Parent: Thank you, I hope you have a great day also

Me: Thank you!

From Parent 2/22/22 From Parent: Hi Mrs. Stancil! I have read the permission form regarding the water safety
classes at the YMCA and have also reviewed the posted presentation.
However, I still have a few questions regarding the safety of the children that participate in
this class. I have listed them below. I am also available by phone, if it would be easier to
have a conversation.
1. What is the instructor to student ratio?
2. Will you and Mrs. Hendricks be with the students?
3. Who will chaperone the students in the locker rooms?
4. Are parents allowed to meet the students at the YMCA to observe?

If it would be easier to talk through these questions, I can be reached at 864-784-0638.

Thank you!

Me: I'm going to forward this message to Mrs. Hendricks so she can answer these questions
for you!

To all parents Good evening!

2/28/22
I hope everyone had a wonderful day!

It was a great first day of Read Across America Week. Tomorrow we are traveling to the
Great Smokey Mountains, so your child can wear camouflage and bring a stuffed bear!

Your child should have their study guide for module 11: understanding perimeter in their
Babcats binder. If they get this signed and returned they will receive extra credit on their test
tomorrow.

I hope you have a great rest of the night, and I look forward to tomorrow! :)

To Parent 2/29/22 **Picture of student was sent to the parent**

Me: Student came up to me and said, “can you tell my mom that a seed can weigh up to 60
pounds”.
We learned this today in ELA! :)

From Parent: She was trying to remember what seed it was. So crazy a seed can weigh that
much!

Me: Yes ma’am! Tell her it is the coco de mer palm!

From Parent From Parent: Hello! Student told me he didn’t do well on his exam. We went over it last
3/1/22 night. We both felt good about it after studying. I don’t know what happened.

From me: Hello! After the exam the students put their answers online and it gives them a
score based on the answers they put in. Typically the score is not the same as when the test
is actually graded. When student put his answers in it gave him a lower score, which is what
he saw, but Mrs. Hendricks and I grade each test by hand. The program online just focuses
on right and wrong, but we grade by student work and understanding. I can already tell
student scored much higher on the test! Please tell him not to worry about it. His hard work
and love for learning is amazing!
He was so excited when he came in and told me he studied with you!

From parent: Thank you! Yes ma’am, we studied together. Lol. I look forward to seeing the
corrected grade.

From me: Yes ma’am!

Me to everyone Good Evening!

Me: That is not a problem at all!

To all parents: 3/17/22 From Mrs. Stancil:

Good Afternoon!

It was another wonderful day in Mrs. Hendricks’ third grade class. Swimming was a lot of fun
this week!

Tomorrow we will be learning about South Carolina history. If your child has a shirt that
represents South Carolina (has the state, state flag, tree, etc) we would love for them to
wear it tomorrow!

I hope you all have a wonderful evening! :)

3/19/22 From Me:

To: Parent Good morning!
I just wanted to let you know that student had a tough day yesterday (03/18/22). He was
reminded throughout the day about expectations in the hallway and in the classroom, and
while reading in guided reading groups he ripped a page in the book.

From Parent:
That is so unfortunate to hear. He is with his Dad this weekend but I will be sure to address
it. Thank you for letting me know.

From me: Yes ma’am. Thank you.

3/21/22 From Parent:

From Parent I forgot to send a note but student needs to ride the bus home this afternoon and not go to
cat claws

From me: Yes ma’am. Thank you!

To all parents: 3/31/22

Good Afternoon!
It was another wonderful day in Mrs. Hendricks’ 3rd grade class.
I am so thankful to be part of an amazing classroom with your amazing children. Thank you
for letting me learn from them, and teach them!

Tomorrow please join us in support of Autism Awareness. Have your child wear their favorite
blue!

I hope you all have a great evening! :)

4/7/22 To Parent Me: Good morning!

I just wanted to check on student since she is not here today.

Parent: I took her to the doctor

We had some concerns about some behavioral changes. She has end of year (and
beginning year) and transition anxiety. She will be on antibotics for scratching behind her
hair and leg
Increased her anxiety medication. I had a concern about possible uti but no, it's just anxiety

Me: Yes, ma'am thank you very much for letting me know.
She is here now. We will have a great day, and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Parent: She loves her pediatrician. I bring a typed note so the kids don't get upset but talk to
them on their level and talk over their heads anoit issues. The kids feel safe and talk to their
doctor about anything. He is very helpful understanding their situation because he's a foster
dad!!!
Gosh my typing is off but I'm headed downstairs to teach! Have a good day
Student has an issue taking things. Just in case, I'll let you know to watch also. One of her
medications is missing. We had it out a few hours and was going to put it in a medicine
cabinet and it was gone. I was cleaning so I could have moved it or a cat could have played
with it. But student had stolen medicine before
It is her ADHD medicine. She might run out before she runs out and the doctor cannot call in
another one.

Me: Yes ma’am. Thank you very much for letting me know and keeping us updated. student
had a great day today, and is excited for Artist on the Green tomorrow!
In person communication:

Middle of the semester: I met a lot of my students' Book fair family night
families!

3/15/22: Parent was at YMCA: We talked about the YMCA third grade swimming
student and the class!

Beginning of the semester: Student in my class was Ravenel Elementary School

out with COVID so my Cooperating teacher and I
met the parent outside and I introduced myself.

Throughout the semester: The parent is the nurse at Ravenel Elementary School
the school. I say goodmorning to her every morning
and have communicated with her in the classroom
when she has come to pick up her child.
