SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE...

If we haven’t officially met, my name is Sunny
Lenarduzzi, and I know YouTube. Not only have I grown
my channel to over 100,000 subscribers, I’ve also helped
thousands of entrepreneurs share their genius with the
world using YouTube.

Actually, my students have seen such success after

following my formula, they’re growing even faster than
me! Let’s take a look at one of my students, Linda
Raynier.

Linda uploaded her first video to her channel in October

2016 and in less than 12 months, she has over 100,000
subscribers and has racked up millions of views.

Linda posted her thoughts about YouTube on her

Instagram page, saying:

“A year after posting my first YouTube video I'm in a

position where I'm working with a FULL roster of high end
clients and I've reached a limit to the point where I've started
a waiting list. Professionals who sign up for my one on one
coaching programs have landed MORE interviews, received
MORE positive feedback from hiring managers than they
ever were getting before and many have LANDED their
dream jobs as a result.”

And Linda is not alone! If you follow my formula for

growing your YouTube channel, you will also see the
growth you deserve! The bigger you grow your channel, the
more positive impact you can have in the world. I’m
honoured to be your guide!

LET’S GET TO GROWING YOUR CHANNEL! 3

By: Sunny Lenarduzzi www.sunnylenarduzzi.com

STEP #1:
RESEARCH BEFORE YOU RECORD
Ever filmed a video or posted a piece of content that you
thought was amazing, but it didn’t get any traction or
engagement? I understand that frustration and by
implementing step 1 and doing your research before you
record, you’re going to avoid any future content flops.

The one concept you need to understand to start seeing

momentum on YouTube is that it’s a search engine.
YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world,
owned by the #1 search engine in the world. Therefore,
you have to think like your ideal customers and audience
think. Your ideal audience is searching for answers to
their questions and solutions to their problems right
now, you just need to make video content for them. This
is why how-to videos and tutorials are the best kinds of
videos to make to grow your channel. How do you
choose the right topics for your videos? Follow these
steps!

1. THE MASTERY LIST

The first step of the research process is to take half an

hour and write down all of the skills that you have
mastered in your craft and that you feel confident
teaching others. This list can be as long or as short as
you want, just get it all out of your head and onto paper,
and the next thing you know you’ll have a list of potential
video topics for your YouTube channel.

2. THE FAQ’S

Now that you have a list of all of the skills you have
mastered, it’s time to cross reference that list with the
most frequently asked questions your audience or
clients ask you. Do you have a list of frequently asked
questions that you have to answer all of the time? I can
guarantee you do. Review your mastery list and put a
check mark beside any topics that are also FAQ’s.

Now, you know that there is an audience searching for

answers to their questions and solutions to their
problems and YOU know how to solve them.

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE AN AUDIENCE OR CURRENT

CUSTOMERS?

I thought you might ask that question, and I’m going to

answer it in step #2 of this guide. Stay tuned!

3. DATA DRIVEN RESULTS

Now, let’s dive into the data! This is the final step to
proving that your video topics are in demand and will drive
traffic to your channel.

GOOGLE KEYWORD PLANNER

As mentioned, YouTube is the second largest search

engine in the world, owned by the #1 search engine in the
world. This is why keywords are the key to your success
in growing your subscriber base and authority. Google
Keyword Planner is the best tool to find highly searched
topics for your video content. For example, if I’m a
financial planner or accountant, I could make a video on
‘how to budget money’ and know that 8,100 people are
searching for that topic each month using Google
Keyword Planner:

When using Google Keyword Planner, it’s also important to

look up keywords as your audience would type them. You
don’t want to just look up the word, ‘budget’, because it’s
too broad. Therefore, you look up long tail keywords or
keyword phrases like ‘how to make a budget’ to get more
accurate results.

As an alternate to Google Keyword Planner, there is also

an awesome tool called TubeBuddy that gives you a ton
of useful data on your potential video topics. Click here to
take a look at TubeBuddy and use discount code SUNNY.

VIEW COUNT VS. SUBSCRIBER COUNT

Another way to discover if your video topic will get views

and exposure for your channel is to look at other videos
on the same topic and compare the view vs. subscriber
count. For example:

My video on How to Get More Views on YouTube has over

500,000 views on YouTube, but my channel has 100,000
subscribers. So, if you see a video that has way more
views than subscribers on that channel, it means the
video is being found through search.

GOOGLE/YOUTUBE SEARCH BAR

The Google and YouTube search bars also give you a clue
as to which topics you should create videos on, based on
the top 10 suggested results that pop up:

If you had a cooking channel, all of these suggested

search ideas could make for great video topics!

ENGAGEMENT

Finally, the last clue for creating great video content on

YouTube is actually looking at other social platforms like
Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Take a look at accounts
that have a similar target audience to you and check out
their social media posts and which posts get the highest
engagement (likes, comments, shares) and that will tell
you what your audience wants from you when it comes to
content.

STEP #2:
COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS
Even if you don’t have an audience or customers right
now, you can still find out what your potential audience
wants to learn from you. This is where you turn on
detective mode and start studying the influencers in your
space to guide your content in the right direction. Here’s
how to analyze your competitors for potential topic ideas:

1. Go to YouTube
2. Search a topic from your Mastery List from Step #1
3. Click on the channel name of the top ranked video
4. Click on VIDEOS
5. Sort videos by most popular

And as you can see in the example above, you’ll find the
most viewed videos on your competitors’ channel. This
will give you proof as to which topics your ideal audience
is searching for and which videos will perform best!

STEP #3:
KEEP IT NICHE
THIS.IS.SO.IMPORTANT. When you’re trying to grow your
channel, you have to stick with one niche. Now, you might
be thinking, but I want to make videos about so many
different things! Listen to me when I say, the fastest
growing YouTube channels start by focusing on one niche
and owning it. Your first 10 video topics should be
focused in one space, one industry and one niche if you
want to start being recognized as an authority and attract
a focused audience FAST.

The more you focus on one niche, the more authority you
build as an expert in that niche, which means Google/
YouTube will want to position your videos higher in search
rankings.

From hula hooping to science experiments, there are

niche channels growing their subscriber bases at warp
speed!

STEP #4:
THE KEY TO KEYWORDS
You chose your keywords in step #1, now you need to
know what to do with them! There are 4 places your
keywords need to be placed in order for Google to
recognize what your video is about and to rank it higher in
search results.

the filename of your video i.e. how to get more

views.mp4
title of your video
description of your video
video tags

STEP #5:
THE V.I.R.A.L. FACTOR
This is what I like to call the secret sauce of standing out
on YouTube. I’m asked all of the time, “how do I go
VIRAL?!”. And my response is “going viral isn’t the goal”.
That might sound like crazy talk, but hear me out.

As a business or brand, going viral brings immediate

attention and traffic, but the beauty of YouTube is the long
term attention and traffic it brings you every single day.
When you show up on the first page of YouTube in the
search results, your video content is being found by new
potential customers and fans every single day. That is the
beauty of YouTube. Without having to pay for exposure,
you’re attracting your ideal customers like a magnet, and
they’re happy to find you! So, instead of a quick hit of
internet fame, I’ve created a new definition of viral to help
you achieve long term success.

Your video content needs to be:

Valuable - Your content must be valuable to your ideal

audience and leave them wanting to come back to you as the
expert in your industry.
Intel - This means that you’re sharing content in your videos
that comes from your own experience and expertise. When
you create content that no one has ever heard before, it makes
you stand out from the crowd.
Relationships - One of the keys to building your subscriber
base quickly is to build a tribe around your channel. In order to
do this, you need to encourage comments on your video and
respond in a timely matter to show that you care about your
audience.
Authority - Building authority leads to higher rankings for your
video content, which leads to being seen by a bigger audience.
How do you build authority? Stick to your niche.
Leverage - And one of the most important aspects of using
YouTube to grow your business and brand is to leverage all of
the views on your videos to increase traffic to your business.
You don’t want someone to find you on YouTube, love your
content and then forget about you. So, remember to tell people
where to engage with you off of YouTube! That can be places
like:

social media platforms

email list
website
online store
offline store (provide your phone or address info)

STEP #6:
SCRIPTING FOR SUCCESS
You might not think that the script of your videos plays a
part in your growth on YouTube, but it certainly does! Here
is the basic script structure to follow for success on
YouTube:

1. Intro
You want to keep your intro under 15 seconds, because
your audience wants to get to the meat of the content as
soon as possible! If they don’t get what they’re looking for
fast enough, they’ll tune out.

2. Tease
You want to reassure your viewers they came to the right
place by teasing the outcome of the video. For example,
“by the end of this video, you’ll know how to rank #1 on
YouTube”.

3. Sequential Steps
Dive right into the steps your viewer needs to know to
solve their problem or answer their question.

4. Call to Action
Ask your viewers to like your video and SUBSCRIBE to
keep them coming back for more!

14
By: Sunny Lenarduzzi www.sunnylenarduzzi.com

STEP #7:
SHARE, SHARE, SHARE
Finally, when you publish a video on YouTube, the work
doesn’t stop there! Now, it’s time to share your video
with everyone you know…seriously. You want to
distribute your video to:

all of your social platforms

email list
send it directly to anyone/anything you mention
in the video

15
By: Sunny Lenarduzzi www.sunnylenarduzzi.com

STEP #8:
ENGAGEMENT
The more engagement your video gets, the more it tells
YouTube and Google that it’s a quality piece of content
that should be ranked #1. Here are a few tricks to
increase engagement on your videos:

be the first person to like and comment on your

video (It’s not weird! If you don’t like your own
video, why would anyone else?)
ask your viewers questions in your videos and
have them answer in the comments
ask for LIKES
ask for SHARES
respond to your comments to encourage more
comments

By: Sunny Lenarduzzi www.sunnylenarduzzi.com

STEP #9:
AUTHORITY
One of the biggest keys to growing your subscriber
base is by building channel authority on YouTube!
How do you build channel authority?

1. Increase Channel Watch Time

The longer you can keep your viewers on your channel,

the better! This tells Google that you have lots of quality
content and viewers prefer to consume your content vs.
anyone else in your niche. One easy way to increase
channel watch time is by setting up specific playlists,
like this one:

17
By: Sunny Lenarduzzi www.sunnylenarduzzi.com

This entire playlist is made up of videos on how to use

YouTube more effectively. Therefore, if a viewer lands
on one of these videos and is looking for help with
YouTube, they’re more likely to binge watch all of them
at the same time because the videos are all related.

2. Niche

As mentioned before, the more niched down your

videos are, the more you’ll build authority in that space.

3. Engagement

And I’ll say it again, you need to have an engaged

audience on your channel in order to become the
authority in your niche. Review the previous steps in
this guide for how to increase engagement.
