EXPERIMENT-1

Aim: To perform Z test in excel.

Question: Assume that someone wants to check the height of the U.S. male population.
Currently, the population mean is about 70 inches with a SD of 3 inches. A total of 30
samples are taken and height is measured.

Steps:
Step-1 Enter the data according to the question.
Step-2 Incase of one sample z test create a dummy of 0 value
Step-3 Click on Data tab and under analysis group, click on Data Analysis and a Data
Analysis box will appear.
Step-4 In Data Analysis box under Analysis Tools select z- Test: Two Sample for Means
and z-Test: Two Sample for Mean box will appear.
Step-5 Select the range for variable 1 and 2.
Step-6 Add Hypothesized Mean Difference value.
Step-7 Add variance for variable 1 and for variable 2 i.e., dummy write 0.0001.
Step-8 Click on OK
Step-9 Select alpha value
Step-10 Click on OK

Conclusion:
Conclusion according to z critical: since zcal=-0.608 lies in the NCR we accept the null
hypothesis.
Males in U.S. have a mean height of 70 inches.

Conclusion according to p value: Since p value=0.54 is greater than 0.05 we accept the
null hypothesis.
Males in U.S. have a mean height of 70 inches.
