Job Description

Position: Project Engineer – Latin America

Reports to: Senior Director of Engineering

Location: Houston, TX, Clemson, SC, or Pleasanton, CA

Required Languages: English, Spanish a plus

Position Summary: The Project Engineer will manage the technical and engineering efforts of
Fulcrum-led projects and Fulcrum-licensed projects in Central and Latin America. Working alongside the
Project Development Team, the Project Engineer will lead project-related efforts to ensure the successful
delivery of engineering, whilst supporting site selection, permitting and the overall execution of each
project from early-stage development to financial close. Initially, this role involves working with a Fulcrum
international licensee to develop and finance several waste-to-transportation fuel projects in Latin
America.

Responsibilities:
Working alongside the Development Team, the Project Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
• Acting as the primary engineering contact for Licensee, provide engineering support for project
development of Fulcrum projects in Central and Latin America
• Support Licensee project developers and their engineering, procurement and construction
contractor(s) to ensure delivery of successful Fulcrum projects.
• Serve as a liaison between Fulcrum and regional licensees of Fulcrum’s technology for timely
responses to Licensee’s questions and other needed support.

• Provide analysis, data (technical, financial, or otherwise) and input from Fulcrum for all proposals,
applications, permits, certifications, financings, contracts, etc., required to support project
development and eventual operations.

• Provide technical data and input for all applications for permits required prior to financing the
Licensee facilities.

• Support the commercial negotiation of feedstock supply, utility supply and other relevant project
agreements while providing the critical business and legal parameters of the said agreements.

• Support the working relationships with all sub-contracted companies providing specialized local
consultants required for the project, such as environmental permitting consultants, community
outreach consultants, legal counsel on commercial agreements, etc.

• Support the sub-contracted service providers to produce all site-related due diligence and surveys
needed for the engineering design process and financial close.

• Support the Licensee team’s site selection efforts by assisting in the evaluation of candidate sites
leading to the selection of preferred Feedstock Processing Facilities and/or sites for the
subsequent Licensee’s Bioenergy facilities under the License and Services Agreement.
• Support the negotiation of the commercial elements of fuel off-take agreements and key by-
products such as plastics and metals that are separated at the FPFs.
• Support the Licensee’s analysis efforts of environmental credit regulations and incentives related
to Sustainable Aviation Fuel.
• Support the negotiation of detailed terms of Licensee’s procurement and construction
agreements with third parties.
• Manage engineering firms providing site layouts, preliminary design, FEL1, FEL2, FEL3, in support
of permit applications, cost estimation, and facility design.
• Manage engineering aspects of air, solid waste, and wastewater permit applications, technical
interfaces with regulators, and responses to questions.
• Coordinate with Fulcrum’s Engineering team and construction management group on various
aspects of projects.
• Prepare engineering and EPC RFP packages to support site selection, permitting, facility design,
and cost estimating activities.
• Review documents, specifications, calculations, and datasheets produced by the selected EPC
partners to ensure validation of the design.
• Review vendor documents, drawings, datasheets, specifications, and calculations to ensure
compliance with required specifications.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• B.S. degree in chemical or mechanical engineering.
• At least 5 years of project engineering experience with biofuel production or petrochemical
refinery projects.
• Proven ability to be self-motivated and self-directed.
• Ability to effectively interface and communicate with clients.
• Ability to effectively manage engineers, consultants, and suppliers.
• Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of an organization.
• Ability to travel to Fulcrum’s corporate office in Pleasanton, CA, project sites in Central and Latin
America, engineering offices and other locations as necessary. Estimated travel = 25%.
