ESSAY NO. 3
I. Why do we need to study Biotechnology in STS Curriculum?
Answer:
We need to study the Biotechnology because it has aided in the enhancement of
food quality, quantity, and processing it can also be used in manufacturing, where simple cells
and proteins can be altered to create something new. Also, biotechnology is quickly becoming
fashionable. The need to distinguish and identify the skills and activities of the emerging
Biotechnology businesses from those of the older, more conventional biological systems-based
industries such as fisheries, forestry, brewing, farming, and so on. To investigate how
educational systems might be changed to suit the changing demands. Educational campaigns
would help raise public knowledge of their potential while also counteracting any exaggeration
of their risks. Those who will be involved in these new industrial advancements will receive the
appropriate training through educational programs. This also puts us closer to the discussion's
main point. Biotechnology is a relatively young area in science and technology with a wide range
of practical applications in everyday life. Biotechnological advancements would also provide the
general public with more understanding of current scientific and technological discoveries, as
well as assistance in training for a better and more effective society, so improving the quality of
life. Biotechnology, on the other hand, is the education of the mind and character in the
application of biological findings to technology in new industrial issues. Given that education is
a science or field of study concerned with how to educate successfully, addressing the topic of
Biotechnology education may also mean Biotechnology teacher preparation. As a result, we must
include Biotechnology in the STS curriculum.
