Proposal
In this unit I intend to create a horror thriller short film. In the
past units I have made horror films, however, they have been a mix
of comedy and horror. I will take what I learned when filming the
horror sequences and incorporate it into my new project. Prior to
this course I didn’t know much about making horrors as I had only
made one before. I wanted to make a horror because my previous
project was primarily a comedy and this time, I wanted to make a
genuine horror. In previous projects, most of the camera angles use
a tripod for a lot of the shots, this time I want to have more
dynamic and moving shots. To help this I recently purchased a
gimbal, which will allow me to have smooth motion in my shots.
In this short film I wanted a horror thriller. The target audience
is 40 – 60 so I changed my initial idea to incorporate the fears of
this age range. From talking to my parents, I found that the biggest
fear of that demographic is something happening to their children.
The change I made is that the parents go away, and bad things start
happening to the child. This plays on the classic parental fear of
bad things happening to their children.
I am intending to use my weekly blogs to keep track of my progress
as I go, I want to do this as it will give me a good idea of how my
projects are progressing and how they have changed along the way. I
am constantly asking those around me for advice and feedback on my
work, I intend to also ask my parents as the fall within the target
audience to their opinions are very valuable to my work.

Contingency Plan
I intend to use my brother as SHAWN in this
production as he suits the role, teenager, and
he is available to film throughout half term.
If he is unable to film, Finn has agreed to.
If any of my locations become unusable, I can
film the loft scenes in my nans house. To avoid
any injury or damage to my loft I will run
through the scene with my brother and show him
where it is safe to stand and walk prior to
filming.
