Reading Evaluation

For this week, the students had new sight words that they are learning, and the words are
Here and Me. Before I introduced the new words, I went over the other sight words they already
know and understand. The morning message went well, and I had the students tell me the sounds
they heard in each word I told them that I was going to write. “Today we will have new site
wordz.” This is how the students hear the words and I wrote them who they are the words. The
students did an awesome job ordinally counting the number of the day for the months. When we
came to daily drill, all the students know their letters of the alphabet and their sounds. They are
learning new sight words every week and when I told them about their new sight words, the
students got excited. I started with the sight word “Here” and the students had some trouble
trying to say the word because Here cannot be sounded out. The students arm spelled Here and
did a very good job spelling it. The other sight word they will learn is Me. The students were
able to tell me what other word that Me. The students were able to sound out the nonsense words
and were able to figure out what two words they had. One thing that that students have trouble
with is the ordinal counting when it gets to number 20. I will usually have to help them count
from 20, 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th etc. Something I would do different is that I
would make more time for the students to do the word train using the nonsense words, so that the
students would have more practice.
