Music Video Evaluation

My music video meets the main conventions I listed in the codes and conventions, as I
utilised both close-ups and tracking shots effectively. For example, when my character closes
his eyes to signify him sealing his deal with the devil, there is a close-up of my eyes with red
lighting which conveys an unnerving hellish image. The tracking shots are used when I'm lip-
syncing the lyrics and helps keep the energy of the video up throughout the video. I think the
main success of my production is the introduction skit, as I used a variety of film making
methods within it, and I think John did a great job acting in it. The editing in this part is also
the strongest sequence of editing within the video in my opinion. Another success of this
production was the editing, and more specifically the use of colour. In one scene I cut
between my character dying on the floor and me walking from a distance towards the camera,
with a red tint on the shot. This was to represent death approaching the character, and I think
I did a good job conveying this.

The main weakness of my production is probably the length, as I was very short for time, so I
only did the first verse and chorus of the song. I had planned to do more on my storyboard
and shooting script, but I simply didn't have time. I also would've liked to spend more time
perfecting the editing, as I had many more ideas that I was not able to execute due to time
constraints.
