evidence. This is ultimately when you will negotiate your grade for the semester (and
you’ll reflect on your grade progress at quarter). Below is the start of our class grade
agreement. This will be your guide for what is generally an A, B, C, etc.
Grade Goals
A DISCLAIMER: it will not be possible for a student to end up locked out of the
A category for one stupid little thing.
● Do your best and put in the work required toward the purpose of learning
something new & growing.
● Work authentically (no B.S.) in all areas of the course (reading, writing,
thinking, communicating, collaboration, ownership, habits).
● Collaborate actively & often. Honor the norms.
● Show growth clearly using specific standards to guide personal
development.
● Read for pleasure, challenge, and growth. Always be reading something
independently.
● All major writing tasks/drafts and thorough revisions in and complete (ANY
major missing drafts/revisions will result in an incomplete grade for the
semester).
● No other assignments missing or incomplete.
● Few late assignments.
● Follow instructions. Be self guided when asked. Own your learning.
● Consistently practice reflection on teacher-chosen objectives and personal
standards/objectives.
● Be a positive community member: provide helpful feedback on writing,
engage in effective conversation in class, help others, navigate our
classroom with kindness, and do not distract others.
● Do meaningful work.
B Generally achieve what it says for an A but leave some clear room for
growth in a few areas.
C Achieve some of what it says for an A, leaving clear room for growth in
several areas.
May perform or meet some of the expectations, but lacking in some evidence of
learning. Student might have average to above average attendance in live class,
but missing assignments, or many incomplete assignments. Student will be able to
show some growth, but will notice missing components. More time or effort (or
both) was likely needed.
