In my opinion, my class is not doing well as a whole with the information included on this
assessment. The class average is a 66% with a median score of 67%. This tells me that as a whole the
class has a below average understanding of the presented material. Additionally, nine of the sixteen
students that took this assessment scored under a 70%. This tells me that the majority of students in my
class do not have a firm grasp of the material. The range which shows the difference between the
highest score and the lowest score showed a 60-point difference between the student that scored the
highest on the assessment and the student that scored the lowest on the assessment. This can make it
difficult for the instructor because there is such a wide array of ability levels in the class. There were
only 3 questions on the assessment that the class scored higher than an 80% on. This indicates to me
that the class needs to continue reviewing these subjects before moving on, while a few students
receive differentiated work either because they have mastered the material already or because they are
struggling. I need to revisit how I taught this material and find alternative methods to communicate the
material to help improve student comprehension

Juan scored 100% on this quiz, he fully understood the learning targets for addition, subtraction,
and division. Cody made a 93% on the assessment. He made answered all the subtraction questions
correctly, but only 80% of the addition questions. While this is still a good score, he may want to focus
his attention on addition. The next highest score is an 80%. The distribution of grades in the A-B range is
not a representative number of students. Ideally, around a third of the class should fall around this level
to demonstrate comprehension of the topic assessed. Jamal, Jack, and Hugh all scored an 80%. Jack
scored an 80% on addition, subtraction, and division as well as 80% overall. This lets me know that his
understanding is even across each topic. However, Jamal scored a 100% on subtraction and an 80% on
addition. This would average to a 90%. Since his quiz score was an 80% overall this lets me know that he
struggled in division.

Luke had the lowest score in the class at a 40%. His scores on each of the three topics covered
were also 40%. Luke is struggling across the board and may need some math remediation to help with
comprehension. Claire and Nathan were two of the three students that scored a 47% on the
assessment. Their addition and subtraction scores were both 40%. This tells me that they had a better
understanding of division than of the other two objectives but are still struggling. Hannah’s scores have
more of a discrepancy between them. She scored a 100% on the subtraction objective but only a 60% on
the addition objective. She scored a 73% overall, so she performed better in division than in addition but
still has room for improvement. Since she did so well in subtraction, her efforts could be best focused
reviewing subtraction and division.
