Moments in life

Life is a series of moments, some that you will never forget because in some way impacted your
journey or destiny, things happen, and we should expect the unexpected you never know if
they will bring you happiness. This is an opportunity to reflect on all the lessons I have learned
from each year of my life, a lot has changed, and I have lived experiences that leave me with
beautiful memories; good or bad, you can learn from anything.
In different stages of my life, I felt happiness, one of the most important events that impacted
my life, is to be able to have a family and see things differently; you get more mature, more
responsible, caring, and know that you are not going to be alone anymore. It is 2015. I am 22
years old, and I am at the Saint Joseph hospital giving birth to my first daughter; how did this
happen? Well, let us go back to the year 2013. I remember the trip that changed my life; in
November, the month I met my husband on a visit to Houston, I never thought of finding a
husband, but well, I guess it was meant to be. Many things happened after that visit; I went
back to Mexico, kept in contact with my then-boyfriend after a year, and made many visits back
to Houston; the unexpected happened I got pregnant with my first daughter, my husband and I
got married, and I decided to stay in the United States, and then I have my first daughter.
I found myself in a different country, with other people, lots of different people, different
languages and food. I miss authentic Mexican food, but I learned to love hamburgers. One of
the hardest things I ever had to learn, and I am still learning is the language; English
pronunciation is difficult to understand, but I needed to adapt fast to everything and speak it
since English was the only language that my husband spoke back then, and I was learning from
him. I emerged into this beautiful American culture, learning many things and meeting many
lovely people.
Now I am a mom; that was the best and scariest experience. I have my own family, and I am
happy, living my best but then three years later, another baby came, my second beautiful
daughter. I was supposed to go just for a trip to Houston, and now I am here living with my little
family accumulating unforgettable memories.
Finishing college is another important event in my life; I will never forget when accomplishing
my bachelor’s degree in nursing was one of the best feelings after all those years of studying for
four years precisely and another year of internship added, putting so much effort, I finally got to
achieve that goal that I had persuaded for a long time since I was a little girl I used to think I
was going to be working at a hospital in my hometown, but the destiny was planned differently.
That experience marked my life. I became more empathic and developed a passion for helping
others. I could take care of patients, which taught me the meaning of life, about not giving up
and enjoying every moment because you never know when your last day on earth will be. Still,
not everything was sad. I also had so much fun doing different activities with older kids and
adults, giving classes about prevention and self-care. I made great relationships with my
classmates and personnel from other clinics and hospitals.
To continue my education, I had to start from the beginning, so I decided to go to school; I
enrolled in GED classes, after a couple of months and a lot of struggles because I had forgotten
everything about math ha-ha, in 2020, I finally obtained my diploma, yes, another goal
accomplished. What am I going to do now? I wondered if I liked nursing, but it was not my
passion. I took a certification in customer service and sales, this is good, this is very good;
customer service is required for almost every job, I told myself, but you need more than this,
another career. After working in the supply chain, I fell in love with all the activities. I decided to
go for a career in that field, so I went to HCC for information about different programs, and I
came across people talking about career 4 u. I took advantage of the opportunity, so I enrolled
in classes and found the perfect one for me. Logistics, I always liked the word now; I am
currently taking a certification program in Logistics and global supply chain management; this
accomplishment is presently in the process, but I desire to finish it soon.
I discovered my passion for the supply chain at my current job; it is related to what I do as an
operations associate working in e-commerce exposed me to all aspects of business and has
taught me several things, including customer support, supply chain management, inventory
control dispatching and routing orders and more. Being promoted at work to inventory
management is another significant moment, firstly because I feel more confident about how I
get my job done and that others see me as responsible, dependable and know the effort I put
into everything I do; secondly, because I am more confident about my career and getting lots of
experience, I feel more confident about interacting with others and see the results of studying
English almost every afternoon. It pushes you to keep going and achieve more, learn new things
every day and strive for the best.
Finally, one of the stages that impacted my life was living with my parents and siblings, which
taught me values like love, empathy, compassion, joy, honesty, gratitude, and more. I had the
best childhood and the love that every kid would wish for. If I had to choose my parents, I
would choose them again.
To conclude, this writing reminds me that life is full of surprises and that anything can change at
every moment. We must keep striving, working, enjoying, and appreciating everything in our
journey to find beauty in small things and love those that love us. Our future has a lot to do
with our past experiences; some are enjoyable, some are stressful, like losing a beloved one,
but all of them are important; we change, we reshape our perception of the world, your
memory is not only your history, but your memory is also your identity, that why we should
keep living with a series of important events.
