BIBLIOTHERAPY

We had learned another lesson from the activity that we did today.

And we call it the bibliotherapy which means creative arts therapies

modality that involves storytelling or the reading of specific texts with the

purpose of healing. Led by our facilitator today Ms. Jelyn Casongsong

and our clinical instructor Mrs. Theresa Bangad. The thing I learned

today is the importance of our communication skills in helping our client

talk to us confidently and genuinely. I understand that our

communications skills either non verbal or verbal communication can

help us establish rapport to our client. We should practice and master

our communication skills as nurses to provide more efficient care and

also providing therapeutic care through talking with our clients. The

bibliotherapy helps the clients to release some of their emotions and

feelings through reacting to the video-plotted story where the clients can

relate to the situation and triggers some of their thoughts and by

communicating these thoughts to provide for the clients like depressive

disorders, anxiety, post traumatic stress disorders. For me these type of

therapy can help these kind of situation in releasing those emotions from

them. I believe that if these burden thoughts are release it will give the

client or help the client relax and provide calmness for them.

Understanding these kind of therapy is very vital to us nurses because I

believe that if we know how, when, and why we execute these therapy we
can be a productive and can provide more therapeutic intervention for

our clients.
