MUSIC AND ART THERAPY

Good afternoon! I am here again future registered nurse Jestian Ryll

Delacruz. I am sharing another insights and experiences from the activity that

we did this whole day activity. Another day has passed and of course we have

learned something new from our experiences. As usual, we did the milieu

therapy in the morning and music/art therapy in the afternoon. Planning was

made by our facilitator and our classmate Mr. Lance Calimlim. He guided us

with his prepared program together with our clinical instructor Mrs. Theresa

Bangad. Milieu therapy in the morning with a different approach like changing

the schedules. In that way, we can avoid the clients getting bored with the

program that we are implementing. In the afternoon activity, we did another

type of therapy, they call it music and art therapy. It is the combination of

music and art therapy to reveal the subconscious thoughts and feelings of the

person. The program consists of both therapies. The client then is instructed to

draw and color anything on the face that is provided by the nurses. They will

draw anything they want and color it through the right side (happy side) and

left side (sad side). After that it was discussed in front of the nurses and the

patients what does the figures drawn means. We had learned something from

our clients like their principles, experiences, beliefs, problems through these

activities. We also interpreted as nurses the meaning behind the drawing of our

clients. We based it on our observations and previous conversations. I’ve

learned in that way we can gain some information about our clients and it can
help for their betterment. We can utilize these information that we gathered in

order to establish plan that is appropriate for the client improvement. All I can

say is we all enjoyed today’s activity and we gained something new from them.
