Course Code and Title: ABE INST 1/2 | CLIMATE CHANGE AND DISASTER RISK
MANAGEMENT
Course Description: Global warming and climate change science; weather and climate;
greenhouse gases; impacts of climate change; legal and policy framework, mitigation and
adaptation strategies; vulnerability and impact assessment; disaster prevention and
mitigation, preparedness, response, and rehabilitation and recovery.
Course Objectives: At the end of the course, students must be able to:
1. Understand the science of climate change – how greenhouse gases are produced
and result to global warming;
2. Analyze the climate change vulnerabilities of agricultural, residential and commercial
areas and how to enhance their adaptive capacities;
3. Apply engineering and technologies in climate change adaptation and mitigation; and
4. Learn how to shift from reactive to proactive mode of DRRM.

This will be uploaded in the Google classroom together with the Modules.
Course Schedule: The drastic change of delivery of teaching-learning process from face-to-
face to distance learning must have brought every student a sense of responsibility of
acquiring essential knowledge through active involvement in the learning process through
performing the activities set forth in this course.
