Course Code and Title: ABE INST 1/2 | CLIMATE CHANGE AND DISASTER RISK
MANAGEMENT

Course Description: Global warming and climate change science; weather and climate;
greenhouse gases; impacts of climate change; legal and policy framework, mitigation and
adaptation strategies; vulnerability and impact assessment; disaster prevention and
mitigation, preparedness, response, and rehabilitation and recovery.

Course Objectives: At the end of the course, students must be able to:
1. Understand the science of climate change – how greenhouse gases are produced
and result to global warming;
2. Analyze the climate change vulnerabilities of agricultural, residential and commercial
areas and how to enhance their adaptive capacities;
3. Apply engineering and technologies in climate change adaptation and mitigation; and
4. Learn how to shift from reactive to proactive mode of DRRM.

Course Materials: This Course Guide helps you in your learning experience on this course.
This will be uploaded in the Google classroom together with the Modules.

Course Schedule: The drastic change of delivery of teaching-learning process from face-to-
face to distance learning must have brought every student a sense of responsibility of
acquiring essential knowledge through active involvement in the learning process through
performing the activities set forth in this course.

To finish this course and be able to gain all the competencies and skills expected to
demonstrate the learning outcomes as stated in this course, you should take time to read
everything written in the modules, actively and conscientiously comply all the course
requirements (assignments, quizzes and exams).
