Hi,

The group of strategy is nothing but the strategy group.

planning stragery :

Planning strategies represent the business procedures for the planning of production
quantities and dates. A wide range of production planning strategies are available in the
SAP R/3 System, offering a large number of different options ranging from pure make-
to-order production to make-to-stock production. Depending on the strategy you
choose, you can:

Use sales orders and/or sales forecast values to create the demand program

Move the stocking level down to the assembly level so that final assembly is triggered
by the incoming sales order

Carry out Demand Management specifically for the assembly

You can also combine planning strategies. This means that you could select the
planning strategy Planning with Final Assembly (40) for a finished product, but you can
still select a different strategy, such as Planning at Assembly Level (70) for an important
assembly in the BOM of this finished product.

The planning strategies available for a material are listed in Customizing. You can
assign a planning strategy to a material in the material master record, by means of a
strategy group. Different requirements types are defined for each of the strategies and
each requirements type contains important control parameters.
Strategy Group will be defined in OPPR and assigned to Material in MRP-1 view (MRP
Group). The main strategy can be overwritten by another planning strategy defined in
the strategy group in sales order management

Hi Prashant,

The strategy group groups all the planning strategies that can be used for a particular
material. The planning strategy represents the procedure used for planning a material
and is (technically speaking)

controlled by the MRP types.

You define planning strategies and strategy groups in Customizing for demand
management.

Menu Path for customization:

SPRO --> IMG --> Production --> Demand Management --> Planning Strategy -->
Define Strategy

Different Strategies used:

10 - MTS (net requirement calculation)

11 - MTS (Gross requirement calculation)

20 - MTO (Make to Order)

25 - MTO with Configurable Material

30 - Production by lot size

40 - Planning with final assembly

50 - Planning without final assembly

many strategies used based on the business requirement.

Mohan

Hi,

Strategy group

The allowed planning strategies (main strategy and further possible strategies) are
combined in the strategy group. As of Release 3.0, the strategy group is specified in the
material master record in the MRP 1 Screen. In Customizing, strategy groups are
assigned, dependent on plant, to MRP groups. If the strategy group is missing in the
material master record, it is determined on the basis of the MRP group, if it has been
maintained.

Planning Strategy

The planning strategy specifies the requirements type for planning and customer
requirements. This represents the decisive control feature for the interaction between
Production Planning and Sales and Distribution.
