Analysis

The process and actual production of the website was very extensive as it included work that we

created over the period of the semester. I would say creating the actual website itself only took a

few hours but the work that went into creating the work that was displayed on the website was

what took the duration of the semester. Overall, everything that went into this ePortfolio project

taught me a lot. Both my writing and technology skills increased. To create this website, I used a

platform called “Weebly”. For someone like me that has never created a website before this

platform made it possible to do everything I wanted to do. I would recommend it to anyone

who’s new to this type of stuff and is wanting to create a website of some sort. One thing I

learned this semester about my writing skills is that they are very weak in the rhetorical analysis

department. Included in my website is my final rhetorical analysis written for this class that I am

quite proud of. I also included a piece of work I produced in my last English composition class

as well as my American politics class this semester. I felt as if it was only right to include them

in my portfolio as it shows what kind of writer I am and the skills I attain thus far. As my website

doesn’t have an exact career path it is following or appealing to an employer of some sort it is

more to track my progress up to that point as I am still young and clueless.

My target academic audience is highschoolers especially juniors and seniors. As a senior myself

I feel as if my website is somewhat informational, and if nothing else it has some good reads in

the portfolio section. It gives them a different perspective than what they may be thinking about

the future or even their improvement in writing. One thing I would like to improve on in the

future is creating the website more geared towards a professional audience. Unfortunately, as of

now that is nearly impossible as I do not even have an idea of what my field of study is going to

be in college. Focusing on my academics now and my progress working towards the future was

just about my only option to gear my website towards. To engage my audience, I tried to make

my website as welcoming and friendly as possible. Starting out with the two-paragraph

introduction is a great way to introduce your audience to you and what your website is all about.

I believe this will either engage them in your website or also it could go in the wrong direction

and disengage them. I also believe that the pictures I used relative to my hometown (and most

likely the viewers) is another factor to help engage the audience. Im not quite sure where to

circulate my ePortfolio yet to get people to see it. The only thought I have put into the circulation

of it is telling my close friends and family about it to see what they think about my online

creation.

This semester I believe that my writing skills improved, and I also recognized what I need more

practice on and my weaknesses. For example, I just cannot quite get the hang of rhetorical

analyses. They have most definitely improved over the semester with practice, but it is still the

genre I struggle with the most which is why I included it on my website. The biggest strengths

on my website are the appeal and look of the website itself, and most importantly the papers I

included in the portfolio. Each paper included was meticulously thought out and written and are

also personally some of my favorites I've created. Overall, the creation of my ePortfolio and all

the contents that make it up was a fantastic way to learn many different skills. I thoroughly

enjoyed putting all of it together and will most definitely use the knowledge attained from this

project on future projects.
