In conclusion, college is not the best choice for all students. The amount of other,

equally viable options shatter its pretense of necessity. The clear volatility of its wages break the

equivalence of college and success, and all that is left is a long, difficult option among many:

one that comes with a mountain of life–altering debt to every second person who passes

through the gates of pretended success.

When one evaluates the benefits and costs of a college education, the vast majority of

the evidence points to college not being the best option for students once they finish high

school. When evaluating even my own classmates, it is apparent that some of these students

have passions that a classroom-based environment can’t facilitate. These students would find

an abundance of benefits in normal employment and would actually save thousands of dollars

and years of their time. The clear volatility of college graduate’s wages break the equivalence of

college and success, and all that is left is a long, difficult option among many: one that comes

with a mountain of life-altering debt to every second person who passes through the gates of

pretended success.
