I decided to start this thread in hopes of gaining more insight into the different

states of awareness to which human mind can be subjected. What is the function of
each phase of human mind, and is there interplay between any of them?

Here is a list of the basic states of awareness:

mind
unconscious mind
subconscious mind
conscious mind
super-conscious mind
soul
Thought Adjuster.

First, working definitions are in order before broaching this topic.

1) mind (material mind) - The thinking, perceiving, and feeling mechanism of the

human organism. The total conscious and unconscious experience. The intelligence
associated with the emotional life reaching upward through worship and wisdom to
the spirit level.

2) unconscious mind - consists of the processes in the mind that occur

automatically and are not available to introspection, and include thought processes,
memory, affect, and motivation

3) Subconscious mind - is a composite of everything one sees, hears and any

information the mind collects that it cannot otherwise consciously process to make
meaningful sense; is the part of consciousness that is not currently in focal
awareness; or it is an alternative storehouse of one's knowledge and prior
experience is needed.

4) Conscious mind - is the state or quality of awareness, or, of being aware of an

external object or something within oneself.

5) Super-conscious mind - transcending human consciousness; of, relating to, or

possessing the highest consciousness or a margin of consciousness above that
within the ordinary range of attention. In this arena of mind TA makes contact with
its host.

6) Soul - is an experiential acquirement. As a mortal creature chooses to "do the

will of the Father in heaven," so the indwelling spirit becomes the father of a new
reality in human experience. The mortal and material mind is the mother of this
same emerging reality. The substance of this new reality is neither material nor
spiritual -- it is morontial. This is the emerging and immortal soul which is destined
to survive mortal death and begin the Paradise ascension.

7 Thought Adjuster - The divine spirit that indwells the mind of man -- the
Thought Adjuster. This immortal spirit is prepersonal -- not a personality, though
destined to become a part of the personality of the surviving mortal creature.

Are these definitions reasonable? Are there other phases of mind that need to
added to the list?
