The purpose of this memo is to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the original document. In
addition, explain and justify the changes in the re-designed document.

Brochure Design Analysis

In this section I analyze the document and justify its design.

Design explanation and justification

The design of the brochure consists of round imagery along with the color scheme of the official Active
Minds organization, blue and green. I decided to make blue the primary color of the brochure since that
color is known to calm people down. Given that the organization is targeted towards the topic of mental
health, I figured it was appropriate to follow the different shades of blue. In the cover of the brochure, I
added circles in the color scheme to follow the circles under the official logo and fill the white space.
Additionally, on the second page of the brochure, I added a QR code that redirects people to the SHSU
counseling center, in the case that they are looking for additional resources on campus.

Organization Needs and Audience(s)

In this section I analyze the organization’s needs that are interpreted in the brochure and its intended
audience(s).

Needs
The needs of Active Minds are membership increase and purpose clarity. Oftentimes, students and staff
on campus think that Active Minds is an organization conducted by professionals, demands specific
requirements, or is solely lecture-based. The organization wants students and staff to know that Active
Minds is much more than that and we are a support group rather than a lecture. Therefore, I added a
short list of some of the events we hold and our simple requirements. Under our events, I also added our
general body meetings dates and times to demonstrate its proximity to event dates.

Audience(s)
The intended audience for Active Minds are people who are advocates for mental health and/or are
interested in learning more about the subject. In the case of the brochure, the design is directed to
anyone who is interested to join the organization or wants to know more information about Active Minds.
