Summary:
This article was about how schools were navigating communication between
parents and teachers during the pandemic. Since it was uncharted waters that
everyone was dealing with, schools wanted parents to feel involved especially with
them starting to work from home as their students are learning from home. The
article mentions many different districts and what app/website/online source they
used to keep communication with parents; this included google voice, ClassDojo,
Remind, and the teachers learning management system they use in class. These all
have pros and cons, but the parents said they liked to be a part of their children’s
schoolwork and to know what is going on.

I think keeping parents informed is a great idea, but I also believe that past middle
school parents are not as involved as they have been. Many of the cons that were
listed with the sources are that the parents have to opt-in, so there is no guarantee
you could have all parents’ attention or that they would get the information they
need. I agree that parents should be involved in their child’s studies, but I never
heard it be this big of an issue before the pandemic. This really is something that is
more important for parents of children who are under the 6th grade, I believe.
