Who do you think of when someone starts to sing the words “I will always love you?” You may
go straight to Whitney Houston. Well, she was not the first person to sing the song. The first
person to sing the song was Dolly Parton. Although both Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston
both sung "I'll always love you," they both had their own version of the same song due to how
they sung it and the style of music they both wrote. Let’s take a look on how they are the same
First, let’s look at Dolly Parton. She first preformed this song in 1974. So therefore, there is not
really a music video for her version when she first released it. When she first released the song
music videos were not really something that happened. That started to happen more into the
1980’s-1990’s. But when she has done live performance of this song she just sat there and sang
the song that she has released. Dolly did not have a big way of showing the song due to not
being the time era of music videos. If you look up the back story of the song, it about her
wanting to go solo and away from the person she has been singing with for a long time. Dolly
keeps saying that she will not forget about him and she will always remember him. She says
that more than once in the song and also says it in different ways throughout the song as well.
Dolly is a country singer. It appeals to more people in the country music world instead of the
people who listen to pop or rap music. Also, this is a good life experience song for people. It
shows you that you can move on and still love someone. That can either be some you had a
relationship with or someone that you had a friendship with, and you just need to part ways
with.
Next let’s look at the Whitney Houston version of the same song. She redid the song in 1992.
She did the music video the song also in 1992. Whitney Houston did a lot more dramatic
version of the song and music video. This was her style that she liked to sing. There is not true
meaning behind it. Houston could have sung it and put it out there because she liked to sing the
song and she felt a connection with it. The way she did her music video was fitting for the time
it came out. During that time, they had different angels and kind of a mystery about the music
video unless there was a true meaning behind the video. It was telling the story of the song in
her eyes and kind of the true meaning of song was sung for in the first place. This is a pathos
song. It deals with many different emotions. It all about how the song makes to feel if you are
connecting with an experience in your life. The way she sings it could attract people who listen
to more pop song. That is because the style of which she sings it, she is very big and bold about
the song. The type of audience for this song is the same as it was for the other version. It’s
about a life experience song and that sometimes you have to leave someone even if you don’t
want to.
Finally, let’s talk about how they are the same song. Overall, they are the same song. From
what we know they have the same meaning of how they sang the song. Which was someone
leaving some else that way they could better themselves and start their own career. They apply
to the some of the same people. People that are going through a hard time. It doesn’t just have
to just wanted to start their own career. It could just be trying to better yourself. Or that you
just need to leave them, but you will always share love for that person, and you will always be
there for them. Both of the songs have been very popular. They both went to the Billboards
Overall, these songs are very well written and produced. They were very popular. Although they
were produced and sung by two very different people, they were very much still the same song.
