Communication Disorders I am really interested in DLD, which is Developmental Language Disorder. The first video I found was of Grant; he was diagnosed with DLD in 2018 and it is his story. He said that working with it had become harder as he got into college, the professors weren't willing to help him and thought he was cheating most of the time. I am sure that things are different at college levels than they are at elementary levels, but that doesn't mean a student should be accused of cheating because of their disability. If I as the teacher in this instance I would try and work with the student more, I know that it is college and they are adults who can do what they want, but I would never accuse them of cheating. I am sure that if he was diagnosed at a younger age he would have had more practices to help with the disability, but being diagnosed as a young adult can be more difficult. The second and third videos I watched were more insight into the DLD world. video two is a teacher describing what to look for and how to help in the classroom, which I think for new teachers can be extremely helpful. The third video is from a research group that specializes in DLD and she gives a brief overview of what the disorder is and what to expect.
