AIM and ART of CASE TAKING
Case taking is one of the most important aspect of

homoeopathy from the view point of patient and doctor,
because every thing which leads to the selection of the
remedy depends on the information obtained there of. If
the information is precise and exact, definitely it will lead
us to cure. Hence, it is rightly said that a well-taken case
is half solved.
Many doctors prepare themselves to a premeditated style

of case taking; some give Performa to be filled in by the
patient, and some other do an exhaustive inquiry so as to
bring out the inner man out. At times, the process
becomes so lengthy and exhaustive that the patient
becomes bored.
The first and foremost thing is that we have to be very

clear about what we are going to search in a patient and
how to reach there. Then the cumbersome process of
case taking can be cut short and the meaningful
information can be spotted easily.
Let's first understand what Dr. Hahnemann has

instructed to do.
In the early year of his practice, when he tried to find the

similibus and the affinity for that particular organ or
disease, the Master faced failure. Then after deep thinking
about the matter for a long time Hahnemann came to
conclusion that what is taken for prescription is a mere
fragment of the real sickness. It needs further and more
reliable information so as to choose the right indicated
medicine. What was that? - It is the man which has to be
taken into consideration, not the organs or the diseases.
After this experiment, it really brought the revolution in the
field of his practice.
It means, the whole journey of the case taking is to

understand the man who is in question at the moment.
Every case needs a full exploration to understand to
prescribe.
Now, the question which is very pertinent here is, 'What

MAN?' Many people misunderstand it and start compiling
the symptoms from head to foot, aggravations /
ameliorations, concomitants and all that.
It is not a mechanical or mathematical sum of the

symptoms the master had spoken of, but it is that scientific,
logical information or the group of symptoms which
establishes the individuality of the patient. it is the
particular individual who is to be treated, and nothing other
than that. The aim of case taking is to reach to this
individual. Once the set of symptoms found, which
establishes the individuality, it will give us the perfect
similibus.
Dr. S.F.C. Hahnemann has given utmost importance to
that mental state of the patient, which he used us a
decisive phenomenon, so as to select a remedy. No doubt,
Master Hahnemann and his followers had also used
physical symptoms very well to prescribe. But, Dr. J. T.
Kent has written that Homoeopathy treats the man and
man is in the mind. It is the mental state which establishes
the individuality very precisely. Prescribing on mental state
means directly touching the deepest layer of the man
which uproots the disorder from the root.
Agreed that Dr. J. T. Kent also used physicals, but, it was

very clear in his mind that 'Homoeopathy treats the man
and man is in the mind'.
To understand the mental state of the patient is not an

easy task. Even the most experienced man in the
profession can be misled. It was Dr. Kent who stressed
most on the mentals, but his literature shows that he used
physicals also to a great extent. To bring out the mentals
in each and every case is again a very tedious task, not
possible for a new comer to the profession. So what
happened? The mental section remained unused to great
extent.
I would like to tell you that the most significant and most
important thing i.e. the state of mind, which we need to
prescribe on, patient gives us very vividly. But if we are not
vigilant enough, it passes without our notice. We need not
to do any premeditation or pre-assignments to make some
exhaustive inquiry. What we need is to be alert and
receive information from all the sources, as it is.
In the early days of my practice, i use to wonder, why

some patients behave rudely with the physician, sometime
very nicely and some others very impatiently, irritated,
angrily, dictatorial etc.
Why a patient touches your feed whereas others quarrel.

Many a time, patient quarrels with the doctor, which is
really an embarrassing situation for any doctor. Why
someone cries and other laugh in your clinic. Mind it! All
these are very important. HOW and WHY, are two things
which take you to your destination, to work out for the
similibus.
Taking a case is very pleasurable job. The most you can

do about it, is to vacate your mind before meeting a
patient. Accept the things as they are coming to you,
never color them. Don't paint them with your knowledge.
Don't try to make a judgement which is very scientifically
supportive. The only thing required in the part of physician
is to have a pure OBSERVATION. Everything, every
experience of the past is true, but what is happening
before you at the moment of encounter with patient, is the
only fact and most valuable in regard of that particular
individual.
When a patient approaches you, it is very important to
know that what made the patient feel like coming to you
and to seek your help. Many a times, very decisive and
eye opening aspects are explored very tactfully, to bring
out the inner feeling of the man.
Following two lines are very precious:
 What the patient says? How he says?

 What he does? How he does?
Wherever we are in doubt, we should go ahead with the

help of these above two lines, asking queries to the patient
in the perspective of clearing our doubts. Please don't
forget that during the whole discussion with the patient,
utmost care should be given to the tone and intensity of
language and words used. Many times, patients use a
particular sentence time and again. What is the meaning
of that in the patient's point of view? It is the most
significant line in case taking and all the emphasis should
be given to the patient's view point.
LET'S DISCUSS A CASE:
A case of persistent dry spasmodic cough came to me few

days back. The lady complained that every time she lie
down cough start and it does not stop. She said, "Doctors
told me that it is in allergic problem, it can take sometime.
If I take anti-allergic, I find relief but it recurs as soon as I
stop it."
"Further, I cannot take those medicines because it causes

lot of other problems. i cannot sleep at proper time
because of this cough. I have other problems, like BP,
pain in joints etc. Now, it is for quiet sometime, may be two
years, My husband died three year back, our family is the
joint family, many members of my family are taking
medicines from you, and so I thought I should consult
you."
This was the information given to me by the patient on her

own. Now, the problem is from where I should start putting
questions? is there my entry point? Yes! When you start
exploration, never go away from the patient's context. The
point of her interest which has become the issue for her is
to be spotted out. What are those?
Patient's version is full of information which has to be

explored. If we give a superficial look to this information,
perhaps it is only cough which is the matter of concern.
But to disclose about family status, members and death of
husband was a bit eccentric, which fascinated my
attention.
Then I asked her a question 'How her husband died and

what rest of the family members does?
Then she told me, "Doctor, you know that he was elder to
everyone in the house. After his death, it is 'Me' who has
to look after the house and every other thing. But this
cough does not let me sleep at appropriate time and to get
up at the appropriate time."
I asked her, "The medicines (allopathic), you are taking,

gives you relief then why don't you continue those
medicines?
She replied, "If I take those medicines, I get relief, but my

sleep gets extended beyond morning time."
Dr. - "What else do you want?"

Pt. - "Actually, doctor, you know, if I would not wake up
after midnight, anybody can enter my house and take
away all the valuables? It is my responsibility, since I am
the eldest in the house, to take care of everything and
everybody. The elders are always supposed to worry
about all these."
I reached t two things:
The lady has her own mind-set that she is bounded by

principles of her socio culture traits to which she confirms
her action. It gives us two rubrics:
1. CONFORMISM
2. RESPONSIBILITY - taking responsibility too
seriously
I prescribed her a does of Kali-carb 30, which settled all

the problems. She had relief in sleep. She could sleep and
wake up accordingly to herself. Then, a lot of phlegm
coughed out and ultimately she was settled in a very small
time.
I visited that place again after two months and met her.
She told me that she keeping fine. Moreover, the
responsibility that seemed to be so important is not
troubling her much. Now that feeling of responsibility has
gone because of which she had to keep awake at night.
She can sleep well at night.
So, what I mean to say that it is not always the say of the
patient which matters, but what is behind it, is of great
significance.
CONFIDENCE : KEY TO SUCCESS

CASE I
Usually a case of inguinal hernia is considered to be a
condition for which surgery is the only option and
conservative treatment for hernia is not thought of. But my
experience shows that if a rightly chosen remedy is
administered even surgical cases can be treated
successfully with homeopathy without any surgical
intervention. The case below represents one such success
story.
A 4 year old male child was brought to me with severe
cough and respiratory distress. He used to get frequent
recurrent attacks of bronchitis which required him to be
hospitalized. During every episode he was administered
antibiotics and put on nebulisation. Lately the frequency
and severity of the attacks were increasing.
The child was very obstinate and his parents found it very
difficult to manage him. During sickness his irritability and
obstinacy increased. Anything that he wants had to be
brought for him at any cost without any consideration of
the time or whether it is day or night. If he wants to go out,
he would, no matter if it is cold and dark outside. The
severe cough resulted in inguinal hernia a few months
back as per his parents. The cough and the difficulty in
breathing would not let the child rest. His obstinacy to do
things and eat as per his wish was getting stronger.
Rubrics:
1. PERTINACITY
2. OBSTINATE, headstrong - plans; in the execution of
3. DELUSIONS - persecuted - he is persecuted
The last rubric is a matter of perception on my part. In fact
the rubrics 1 and 2 stems from the rubric no. 3. Rubric no.
3 was perceived by me while taking the case. The patient
was too young to describe his feelings of persecution in
words. His obstinacy and pertinacity stemmed from the
feeling of being persecuted by his ruthless suffering.
The similimum Drosera 30 was given to him which settled
not only his respiratory complaints but his hernia as well
which in normal circumstances would have been
amenable to surgery alone.
CASE II
A 1½ year old male child was brought to me for inguinal
hernia and recurrent respiratory infection. I found the child
to be active as he wandered around in the clinic. I noticed
that the child’s legs had a bow legged deformity. As per
the information provided by his parents, the child was also
diagnosed earlier to have calcium deficiency and therefore
was put on multiple tonics of calcium supplements and
advised a calcium rich diet. The parents complained that
the child was a very fussy and never ate properly and his
food intake was therefore very less. He would call for a
variety of food but he would have only a bite or two.
Rubrics taken were:
1. PLAYFUL
2. VIVACIOUS
3. CAPRICIOUSNESS - rejecting the things for which
he has been longing; when offered, he is
Ignatia 6, one dose produced a lot of expulsion as
Diarrhea and just in a months time both the problems
settled.
CASE III
A male child was brought to me with the complaint of
inguinal hernia. Even before the child entered the clinic, I
could hear him crying loudly from my chamber. The
mother of the child was trying to pacify him. Somehow she
brought the child inside my chamber. He was frightened
and crying. When I inquired as to why he was crying, his
parents told me that he never wanted to go to any doctor.
He was always very frightened and never wanted to take
any medicine. Whenever the hernia descends to the
scrotum, there would be a lot of pain and swelling. They
have to rush him to the doctor and get it reduced manually
which used to relieve the pain.
I prescribed a dose of Strammonium 30. Gradually the
frequency reduced and the child ultimately got alright.
Rubrics taken were:
1. FEAR - injury - being injured; of
2. FEAR - doctors
CASE IV
A 2½ year old child brought to me with a history of chronic
sinusitis and complaints of difficulty in breathing, has to
breathe through the mouth, and pain in the maxillary area.
Very soon the child started talking to me. She asked me
how I prescribe medicines and also suggested that I
should keep my books properly. She also went on to talk
about the dos and donts that patients should follow. Her
parents told me that they called her a grandma because
she would talk a lot and suggest things to everyone
around including strangers. She talked a lot.
I prescribed her a dose of Strophanthus Hispidus 30. A lot
of discharges took place and she was alright.
All those children suffering from warts, sinusitis, tonsillitis
etc who are nicknamed Grandma or Old man with
tendency to loquacity, were cured by me on this feel which
is Loquacity; children in, precociously loquacious.
CASE V
A senior citizen used to come to my clinic with his
daughter who has been taking treatment from me for quite
some time. Whenever I met him in my clinic he used to be
coughing continuously. He had been suffering from
bronchitis since last winter. One day his wife accompanied
him to the clinic and after his daughter’s consultation, his
wife insisted on him taking medicine from me. The
gentleman showed his reluctance to letting me take his
case. He said “I never took medicines other than from
CGHS, that’s why I am hesitating.” But his wife forced him
to take medicine from me.
I prescribed a dose of Sulphuricum Acidum 30 which
settled his case in a very short time.
The rubric taken by me was ‘ECCENTRICITY -
alternating with – timidity’.
CASE VI
Mr. A Kumar, 55, told me that he is diabetic since 7-8
years. He has been taking some tablets but things are not
under control. He has changed medicine but no effects.
The blood sugar report shows F-109 & PP – 232. He said,
“I do not get sleep. My body aches all the time. All my
joints are very stiff. There is extreme burning in my soles. I
keep on sitting up in bed. I have taken so many medicines
and have taken so much of care of myself. At least I
should get sleep. There is extreme restlessness and
dejection in the body. I have a lot of tension in my mind.
No body bothers about me. The children and the other
members of my family don’t listen to me. I just can’t say
anything in whatever they are doing. They keep on and on,
not ready to listen. They are spoiling the business and I
don’t have a say in anything. I have become irritable. I do
not know what to do. I do not have the stamina any more
to continue the treatment. I have left my business.
1. MILDNESS - complaining; bears suffering, even
outrage without
2. COWARDICE - opinion; without courage to express
own
3. DISCONCERTED
4. INJUSTICE, cannot support
After a dose of Ignatia 30 he slept very well. All the pains
and the lack of energy had gone. Gradually, the blood
sugar level started coming back to normal and in course of
five months the medicines (allopathic) were tapered down
and stopped. Now it is maintained with homoeopathic
treatment only. The patient is free of all his sufferings. Still
the patient is under treatment with diet control and change
in life style. He is doing fairly well.
CASE VII
A middle aged lady was under my treatment for epilepsy
and had been improving well with Belladonna. But of late
she started having severe headaches with tendency to fall
and spells of unconsciousness. Gradually this state was
worsening. One day the headache became so severe that
she lost her control and fell down, unable to communicate,
she could not sit properly and even explaining her problem
was impossible for her.
When asked about her problem she just put her hand on
the head to express the pain. Whatever question I put to
her was replied only with her eyes and hands.
I gave her a dose of Carboneum Suphuratum 30. Her
headache went off in no time and other recent problems
she suffered were also cured.
The rubric selected for the prescription was ‘ANSWERING
- gestures; with’.
CASE VIII
A Homoeopathic doctor consulted me for the problem of
severe headache. He told me, “As soon as I start seeing a
patient I get a severe headache. The pain is just
unbearable. The mind gets confused and I do not know
what I have to do. Ever since this problem has started I
get angry very frequently. There is no reason for me to be
so. But I can’t stop it. Day by day I have started neglecting
patients. I just prescribe placebo and let the patient wait.
But this is not the way. I can’t work. My confidence level
has gone substantially low. As soon as I attempt to think
about the case I go blank in my mind. I do not know what
happens.”
I gave him a dose of Hydrogen 30. It brought back the
cheerful feeling and confidence immediately. He started
working again as usual. After some days he had a very
prolonged diarrhea which he had years back. It was then
diagnosed as IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). Nothing
was given to the patient for the diarrhea. Now he is almost
in a normal state.
Rubrics were:
1. CONCENTRATION - difficult - attempting to
concentrate; on - vacant feeling; has a
2. ANGER - causeless
3. CONFIDENCE - want of self-confidence
Hydrogen is the common medicine for the above rubrics.
CASE IX
The case presented to me was of a small boy around 2
year old suffering from chronic bronchitis. He was very
noisy and kept shrieking and struggling to get down as his
mother was holding him in her arms. He was fascinated
with the water cooler in the clinic which he knew
dispensed water. He tried to get down from his mothers
arms by making loud shrieking noises just to get to play
with water in the water cooler.
However, the intensity and seriousness on the child’s face
did not imply playfulness. Playfulness is a desire to play
and amuse oneself. The intensity of this child was not a
playful one but serious and very ambitious.
When he got down he went towards the water cooler but
was promptly picked up by his mother. This made him
irritable and he started struggling to get down again. In the
meantime, I tried to distract his attention by showing him a
pen and making noises on the table.
However, the child was not to be distracted and he kept at
going towards the water cooler. In his efforts and struggle
he hurt himself on the edge of the table and started crying
for a minute or two. Then he again insisted on going
towards the water cooler. He then asked for water by
saying Mum-mum which was his language to ask for water.
The assistant in the clinic gave him the water which he
noticed was procured from the water cooler. In spite of his
mother trying to prevent him from drinking all the water, he
insisted on drinking the full glass and asked for more.
His mother said, “His obstinacy for things kept growing
even as he was dissuaded and discouraged from doing so.
Once he sees water he will want to play with water and he
never wants to come out.” During this time he got down
from his mothers arms and took his now empty glass to
the water cooler and tried to fill his glass. Once he got to
play with the water cooler, he became quiet and calmed
down immediately. No further question was asked.
The only rubric taken was:
OBSTINATE, headstrong - children - fat, inclined to
grow
Obstinate – unreasonably determined to have one’s own
way; not yielding to reason or plea; stubborn, dogged,
mulish; firmly adhering to ones chosen course of action or
opinion despite dissuasion; inflexible, self-willed
Here, in this rubric, the child will grow more obstinate and
stubborn as he is dissuaded or discouraged. The more
you dissuade him the more his obstinacy grows. This
growing of his obstinacy is what Dr. Kent meant to say by
using the word ‘fat’ and ‘is inclined to grow’ which means
that the obstinacy will keep growing more with more
dissuasion.
This was very clearly seen in the child above. More the
mother tried to dissuade him from going towards the water
cooler, the more stubborn and noisy he became and the
more he would struggle and want his way.
It may appear that most of the cases are prescribed on
only one rubric which may be dangerous. But when it is of
paramount importance in the case from patients stand
point cases can be prescribed on a single rubric. Secondly,
a lot depends of individual discretion. How tough and how
easy is it for the physician to empathize with the patient.
Our only matter to look into is to touch the center of the
man. Then how does it matter if the remedy selected is on
a singular or multiple rubrics.
Why and how RH came into existence?

Every system has its own limitations. So is homoeopathy.
The problems are bound to be, as no system is complete
in itself. Dr. Sehgal, staunch follower of Dr. J. T. Kent,
came across some problems of very obstinate nature.
Some of his fever cases did not yield to any treatment. He
tried all the possible ways of prescribing, but there was no
result. This failure did not discourage him, on the contrary
made him more inquisitive and more zealous so as to
investigate the things more deeply, as if something new
was inviting him to explore it. It was unconvincing to him
that how it is possible that the law of similar has got limited
application. He used to follow Dr. J. T. Kent meticulously
and try to find some mental symptoms and add some
physical symptoms to it and repertorise it to find the
remedy. But in some cases where he was stuck up, there
was no clue to reach to the remedy. He used to become
restless, "Why homoeopathy fails?" He happened to read
Dr. J .T. Kent that, to become a good homoeopath you
should learn from the bedside of the patient. One of his
close relative's son was having high fever and diagnosed
to have malaria. When asked, how are you? He used to
reply, "I am fine" even during very high fever. When asked,
"What do you want to do?" He told, "I just want to lie down
on bed." And on his own never complained of any problem.
Repeatedly these statements came. No doubt, these
statements seem to be most ordinary and common ones
but carries a lot of meaning which Dr. Sehgal converted
into the following rubrics.
MALARIA CASE:
1. WELL - says he is well - sick; when very
2. BED - remain in bed; desires to
3. INDIFFERENCE, apathy - complain; does not
By combing these rubrics he reached to the remedy
Hyoscyamus. There was no indication of Hyoscyamus in
malaria fever during those days in any homoeopathic
literature. But he thought of trying this remedy. This
remedy gave amazing result.
This gave him immense boost to understand the great

secret that if followed, the mental signals of the ailing
individual keenly, let it be his common and ordinary one, it
can lead to similimum to cure. He didn't looked back then
onwards. He treated numerous patients with his new
understood method. he then discussed this new method
among fellow homoeopathic physicians who also tried in
similar manner to get astounding results in their clinics.
This led to the rediscovery of prescribing on ordinary and
common symptom of the mind which was given a name as
Revolutionized Homoeopathy.
What is Revolutionized Homoeopathy?

To prescribe according to the present mental state of the
patient, which is also persisting and predominating in your
patient during sickness.
What is new in RH?

There was no change in the basic principles but the only
change was, considering the present state of mind of the
patient by understanding the common versions of the
patient. According to RH prescribing, the revolution was
brought in the field of results. It was not against anybody
or any school of thought but only against the diseases or
the suffering humanity. The wide gap of misunderstanding
was filled up between the theory and the practicability that
is only the mental state is taken into consideration where
as the physical symptoms are ignored.
What is Life?
In the medical history, it was Dr. Hahnemann who first
gave the rational explanation to the life. Dr. Hahnemann
explained the life from the spiritual point of view. Dr.
hahnemann explained that there are three components of
a life that is spiritual, mental and physical. These three
components are interdependent and they always interact
with each other, which means wherever there is life, these
three will be three and vice versa.
Spiritual layer + Mental layer + Physical Layer = Life

If there is any reaction at any level
the whole economy is behind that,
it is never a local phenomenon Dr.
Sehgal explained the life in the
following way. Life always pre
existed in two extremes that are in
sperm and ovum, like negative
and positive. When these two
comes together mysterious changes take place which
initiates a process of cell division so as to form the whole
or an individual. For example, when a negative charge
meet the positive charge only then a circle is completed
other wise they remain restless. Their union is must, life
always starts as union, perhaps this is nature's law.
Always originate from a life.

When they meet they form zero, the seed of life, the first
cell, to call a unit.
Multiplications to take shape of the whole.
Spiritual + Mental + Physical = Life

(We recognize life in three parts, the Body, the Mind and
the Spirit. This is a trinity and this trinity is always present
in all life and in some form in every part of our organism.

Center of life, no doubt that all the three layers are

important, every one is must, even then every layer has
got its own importance. Spiritual layer is most significant,
next comes the mental, least is the physical one. Agreed,
spiritual layer needs the physical so as to express itself,
but nevertheless mental layer is topmost in significance
because it is this layer which gives meaning to the
material and thus make it capable of sensation and
function. For example take a life wire of electricity, as long
as current is passing through, it is live if the current is
switched off, it is merely a piece of dead wire. Similarly it is
the dynamic layer which pervades the material body and
thus makes it meaningful. So it is the centre of the life as
called by Dr. Hahnemann.
All the processes of life that is health, disease and cure is

business of CENTER.
Center is target of disease and cure.
Spiritual layer - manifests itself through mind.

maintained by the expressions of vital energy as the life

Because of mind is in the closer proximity, the dynamic
layer expresses itself through mind, so the direct route to
reach through mind, so the direct route to reach the center
is via mind. When we prescribe on the basis of mental
state, directly we are going to give the stimulation to
center. So it is the mind who is all important to establish
individuality.
Because homoeopathy treats the man, not the disease

and man is in the mind.
Mind comprises of WILL and Understanding and

Memory
Of these three, WILL is the most important.
And is defined as the power of making a reasoned choice
or decision or of controlling one's own action.
OR
The power of choice and deliberate actions or the

intentions resulting from the exercise of this power.
The WILL plays a significant role to know about the patient.

If we take the case or investigate the patient according to
the laws of RH all the way straight, we are able to bring
out the WILL of the patient. Thus a very judicious
prescription is made.
Understanding is defined as the ability to reason or

understand or to perceive relationship, differences.
From the above discussion, it is very much clear that how

important the mind is. Suppose, any department of the
mind is abnormal or suppressed it can lead to any
disastrous consequence. At the same time if some
physical part is sacrificed for some better thing no
difference to lead a normal life is felt. For example, there
are number of instance persons seen roaming about in the
streets. They do not show any concern about their
physique, many of them look very strong, the external
influences hardly makes any difference, e.g., many do not
even wear clothes, they are unconscious about their
security and safety. There is no meaning of such a life,
mental faculty is gone means no life or in other words
there is no meaning of that type of life.
But there are persons who don't have some particular

limbs but their mental faculty is working fine. They pull on
their life even married life understanding the need of the
family as well.
For example, Stephen Hawking, the physicist who's

fully paralyzed, can not even move a step, utter a word,
being well at mental level, he is the future of the world.
So the mind is very significant so as to establish the
individuality and thus to make a proper prescription.
Hence mind plays an important role in life. In

Homoeopathy also every stalwarts of Homoeopathy gave
highest gradation to mind.
Dr. Sehgal practically showed why the stalwarts depended

on mind symptoms so much by implementing this RH in all
his cases.
According to Dr. Sehgal basically two processes that is

processes of assimilation and elimination are very
important. They play a very significant role in the state of
health and disease and cure.
ASSIMILATION
For an individual to work, fight against diseases and to
maintain the life it is utmost necessary to be supplied with
energy which is provided from out side in the form of food
and drinks. After the process of digestion the useful part is
taken up for the maintenance of the life and to meet the
energy requirements for the various processes.
ELIMINATION
During the process of digestion and metabolism some
waste products are left over which are removed from the
body at certain interval in various forms, for example stool,
urine, sweat etc.
These two processes are very important. As long as these

two processes are working efficiently the individual is in
the state of health. Every individual has his own standard
of assimilation and elimination. For example, a person
may be in the state of health with a certain quantity of
intake of food where as the other may be requiring more
or less than him, so as to sustain the normal life. Some
way evacuation of the stool once in twenty four hours may
be satisfactory for one where as the other person may like
to evacuate twice or thrice. What I mean to say is every
person has his own standard of assimilation and
elimination where he feels normal or in the state of health
or in NATURAL ORDER as called by Dr. Sehgal. At this
state these two processes obeys a discipline which is
unique to the individual. During the state of health this
discipline is must which is natural to the individual.
Any change in the discipline of assimilation and

elimination makes natural order is disturbed. These two
processes go out of order, does not obey the natural order
which is unique to the individual. The intake of food may
decrease or increase and there are perverted desires and
aversions. The energy level starts falling down and the
person becomes inefficient. The process of elimination is
also perturbed, the waste is not thrown out as it should be.
So it starts accumulating in the body. After a certain period
this accumulation of waste turns into toxins and thus sets
in the process of DEGENERATION. In this state, the
processes of assimilation and elimination no more obey
the discipline. This is called the diseased state.
These toxins which are lying in the body has certain

reflection on the mind which are reflected in the form of
speech and gestures.
When the medicine is selected according to the mental

state, the first change it is likely to produce is on the
control over the degenerated process, by stimulating the
center and restoring the normal energy level and thus
producing the eliminations through the natural orifices and
restoring the process of assimilation as well.
The elimination set in by the remedy so chosen does obey
certain discipline ensured by the feeling of general well
being. Ultimately both the processes starts obeying the
discipline which is unique to the individual and thus it is
the sign of health.
When these process of assimilation and elimination are

altered the toxins are giving reflection on the mind in the
form of speech and gestures. These signals emitted by the
patient are collected and out of which the most stressed
by the patient, time and again are taken into consideration
for the selection of simillibus. In other words, we can say
the present which is persisting and predominating is taken
in to account so as to select the homoeopathic remedy.
These versions of the patient may seem the common one,
never the less they are pregnant with meaning.
PRACTICAL PART OF RH:

CASE TAKING: This is the first encounter with the patient
we are going to have during the process of case taking. It
is a very important step as far as the future of the patient
and the doctor is concerned. Because well taken case is
half solved. As case taking is not an easy job, it needs a
lot of skills and temperament on the part of the physician.
Every case is a different case, you may have to adopt
different strategies. It is utmost necessary to bring out the
real information from the patient and to understand it in the
contest of patient himself. Every person is not easy to
handle, very often one has to palpate some sensitive
issues of the patient in question of the moment. But in RH
the aim and technique is very vividly clear. The master
that is Dr. M.L. Sehgal always made the things very easy,
also the case taking. Master said, "When a patient come
to us he come to give us the information regarding his
sickness which is reflected in speech and gestures, our
sole aim is to collect the present which conforms to
persistence and predominance. The only thing the
physician needs is the correct observation and then to
reach at a scientific conclusion to spot the reliable
information and exact information so as to prescribe. To
do so it is necessary to proceed into the case on the lines
as told by the masters that is WHAT the patient says while
reporting and HOW he says, WHAT he does and HOW he
does? So when the proceedings are according to the lines
as told by the masters one reaches at the desired
information that is the present, persistent and predominant
state of mind which is very scientific and reliable
information so as to spot the right remedy.
The information which we are going to collect during the

processes of case taking should be taken as it is. The
information which comes spontaneously is most important
and that should not be tampered by the judgements or
coloured by the physicians. Then after taking all the
information by the patient it should be analyses and
evaluated, giving each and every expression its own value
neither under rating nor over rating any information.
Generally it is seen that patient gives very important
information at the beginning of the case taking or at the
end.
The similibus then chosen starts giving the effect with no

time and it stimulate the center and then sets the process
of assimilation and elimination right and brings the cure
ultimately.
TEST OF ACCURACY OF SIMILIMUM

1. Immediately after administration of similimum there
comes the feeling of general well being and the
natural order of the patient is restored and repulsion
should take place. The recovery must start from within
outwards, from center to periphery that is from mind
to physicals.
2. The mental state which form the basis of prescription
must return to normal that is excesses, the
exaggerations must depart with corresponding relief
in the physical problems.
A case of blindness
A child named master Siddharth at age of six month, felled
down from the bed and received the injury over the head,
consequently lost the eyesight totally. A day after the
accident child had the convulsions which went off with the
allopathic treatment but there was no change in the
eyesight. When the child was brought to me the parents
lost all the hpes of recovery as it was refused by the AIMS
and the other doctors.

After 80% of recovery the parents became a bit relaxed
they stopped the treatment at this juncture the process of
the elimination was still going on i.e., recurrent skin
infection and high grade fever. They thought that perhaps
there is no relation between the main sickness and the
recurrent skin infections and fever. Despite explanation,
they did some external application and for fever they gave
crocin keeping their own convenience in consideration.
After some time the child started having the convulsions at
least 9-12 times a day. Every time the child has the attack
of convulsions it was followed by extreme prostration,

An old lady 68years of age was operated for CA ovary 7-
8moths back. After few months the symptoms reappeared
i.e. low grade fever, loss of appetite and weight loss etc.
CT abdomen was done and found that the disease has
spread to perihepatic and perisplenic areas. Doctors at the
Rajiv Gandhi Cancer institute Planned to give
chemotherapy. She was advised to go for regular
checkups before the chemotherapy. During the various
checkups this lady became disappointed with the
behaviour of the staffs and other doctors.
They were very harsh. They were behaving with her as if
she is a commodity and not a human being. she decided
not to go for the chemotherapy and left the hospital. They
called me at their house to see her.
The lady started talking in a very soft smiling way, started
the history from her childhood before partition. She had
problem of asthma and regular gastric problems. She went
on explaining details of every problem she had since her
young days. I didn't notice any fright, terror or anxiety on
her face during the conversation.
Dr. - "You know you have cancer and it is spreading, how
do you take it?"
Pt. - "I know about the disease. At the same time I also
know that if I get right medicine I will be all right. As my
son told me about you, I have developed faith that you can
make me alright. I don't want to go back to the hospital for
chemotherapy. Those people are very harsh. I am an old
lady. I can't breath properly. I can't walk and eat only
selected food. I can't cope with their way of dealing.
When I hear the name of the hospital I start getting
uncomfortable."
As soon as I told her that you will not to go to the hospital
now, she cheered up and started smiling. She said, "I can
take medicine for any length of time, but please give me
such a medicine so that cancer should not increase.
"I want to stay at my home, my family members are very
good to me. They are so nice to take care of me."
I asked her, "When you didn't want to go to the hospital
then why didn't you refuse at that time?"
She answered, "I don't know what happens to me that
time. I get confused. I just con not tell anybody what I want
to say. I say opposite of what I intend to tell them?"

ACONITE NAP
A very commonly used remedy for cough and cold
especially when it is after exposure to dry cold winds. A
popular belief even by the masters that its state exist only
for a short while, after that it is supposed to be useless to
prescribe it in chronic cases. But exploring this drug in Dr.
M. L. Sehgal's way it turn out to be an interesting study
and very helpful for treating chronic cases as well.
Let us bring out its full potential by understanding the state

of mind of Aconite. Popularly called EKO-NIGHT means
(one Night), let us come out of this prejudice. If one is able
to simulate the state of mind it hardly matters whether the
problem is acute or chronic. I used it in many chronic
cases like psoriasis, cancer, arthritis, hypertension, etc.
I have a patient having the problem of recurrent

hydrothorax. Despite all the conservative treatments, she
used to have fluid collection in lungs every April. Three
consecutive Aprils she had the same problem. She was
given allopathic treatment and aspiration was done. The
patient's X-ray report and other pathological reports
become normal after the course of antibiotics but the
condition remains same. She stays in great agony, very
anguish, restless and anxious. There was hardly any
appetite. She used to have pains in chest continuously.
She told me, "I don't want to see the road which leads to
the hospital, because the the hospital staff are very
ruthless. They don't have a heart. They treat the patients
like animals. I do not want to go there. I am very much
scared of the treatment I had for three years. I take all the
precautions. I don't eat anything, which can cause me any
trouble.
As the April approaches a scare in my heart starts looming

around as I always have the problem in April. I scare that
lest the hydrothorax recur. I am very anxious when the
pain starts in the chest. I just do not want anybody around
me. You give me such a remedy so that I should be alright
before this April. I have great anxiety. I cannot sit because
of anxiety. I just do not like any noise or even any visitor .
I always keep on planning, if in any case it happens 'What
to do?'
Many times it happens with me, whatever I think, happens

in reality, especially something bad about my health will
surely happen. I take lot of care to keep myself fit but my
health doesn't improve. I become sad. I am giving you all
the information in the minutest detail so that you may be
able to help me out.
I never want to go to the hospital, but when the problem

occurs I get confused, doesn't know what to do? And What
to tell? The severity of the pain is so much it makes me

Patient was bed ridden, unable to move. Little movement

causes the patient out of breath and tired. She was unable
to do any household work. General health condition of the

Analysis:
History given by the patient is quite lengthy and
exhaustive. Patient was explaining the things to the
minutest detail. It is the feel of the patient that she was
treated in an inhuman way at the hospital though it may
not be the case. The procedure of aspiring fluid from the
lungs time and again was giving her a lot of suffering,
which she was not in position to bear. Already she was
having so much of pains. It seemed to her as if the
hospital staff are adding fuel to the fire. On the contrary
her need is a very gentle and warm touch.

It is not merely the services, which she needs, but it

should be gentle, patting, affectionate and loving. Not only
that, but FAST as well. Just because of this reason she
opted Homoeopathic treatment this time. She is fed up
from others and from the repeated torture she had been
given in the name of treatment. She doesn't like the way or
road, which leads to that hospital. She doesn't visit even
the nearby areas of the hospital.

And later on she realizes that she said wrong, her internal
intentions were not so.
Patient keeps on giving information in detail, because her

purpose is to get a solution and assurance. This is
something which Aconite patient seeks. It ameliorates the
anxiety and fear of the patient and ultimately he goes into
the state of indifference.

The assurances given by the physician acts as cold drink

and then the patient gets into another state and has the
'DELUSIONS - sheep - driving'.
This rubric is very important to understand the full picture

of Aconite. Patient comes between the two stages of
anxiety and indifference. Here the patient approaches the
doctor in a state of anxiety, if he gets a positive assurance
and a touch of caressing it works as a cold drink which
ameliorate all the anxieties and the patient gets an
impression that his disease is like a 'sheep' means
"nothing serious".
Sheep - A meek unimaginative and easily lead animal

Driving - Forcing along, riding, pushing briskly sends
always with force, tending towards a point.
Inference - The person feels that the job in hand is like a

sheep, which can easily be taken care of.
One of my distant relative has the problem of asthma, pain

in chest, Hypertension, etc. He was taking allopathic
treatment. But he keeps me aware of his every problem.
Another problem he had was panic attack. If some where
stuck in traffic jam he would think on about his various
problems repeatedly. He would think if anything happened
to me now, what would happen? He gets panicky and
leave the car and rush to the hospital. Even if he gets
slight pain in chest for fraction of second he would panic.
He would explain me everything on telephone, how the
traffic got jammed and he had felt pain in chest and he ran
into the hospital.
I asked him, " I am not giving you any treatment. I cannot

do any help to you when you panic in traffic jams. Then
why do you explain all these things to me? Many times if
he had just the feeling of pain for a fraction of second he
makes it a big story, go for ECG and other examination
and checks his BP repeatedly. At the end of the day he
narrates the whole story to me. I could'nt say him
anything.
One day I told him, "Please don't disturb me for no reason

when I have nothing to do with your problem. I would listen
to you only if you take treatment from me."
He told me, "actually I wanted to take the Homoeopathic
treatment only. But things occurs so suddenly that I want
immediate solution that's why I go to hospital. I keep you
telling everything so that you also should be informed in
case of any emergency. Now I would take only

He got very happy and said, "I would take this medicine

Analysis:
The most significant point in this case is 'Why this person
used to ring me up every time when he gets attack, even
when I was not his attending physician. This was
something unusual. I picked up this point and asked him,
"after all what he wants from me?"
"The assurance he gets from me helps him a lot, gives him

courage to swim through the problem. In fact he gets
magnatised by my assurance which ameliorates his
suffering."

the panic but when thay get assurance from the physician
that the problem can be handled easily they become

A young boy of 17years was taking treatment for the

problem of Alopecia. Day by day the hair fall is increasing.
He tried various treatments but without any marked result.
He left all the treatments for quite sometime. He came to
me on the advice of his father. He continued treatment for
3-4months, but there was no satisfactory result. One day
he told me that he is very much discouraged and didn't
want to continue treatment but his father sent him forcibly
to me.
He told me, "I don't feel good. Everybody joke with me

wherever I go. My relatives and friends pass sarcastic
comments. They say why don't you take treatment from
somewhere else, because homoeopathy is not going to
make any difference. It would work when all your hair
would go off. It is upsetting me. I really feel ashamed ,

listen even a single word against you. But doctor to
continue the treatment there must be some change
otherwise these people would compel me to leave your

not so serious and will be cured soon. But people at home
discourage me.

I analyzed the whole case, the basic feel of the patient is

that he should have some improvement, which is not there.
Because of this he listen to sarcastic comments from the
relative and friends. To face his relatives and friends is not
easy. He is unable to answer them back. In other words,

reply them as he is not having any improvement.

and efforts. He would not listen even anything dishonor his

In fact the assurance given by the doctor, mesmerize him

so much so that he becomes ignorant and forgets his

If the Indifference State is very long, he is least bothered

about his health. He just continues with the doctor. He has
the feeling that his doctor is competent enough to make

But when he comes into his conscious state then he

Because of the enthusiasm he continues taking treatment

for long time but he needs some light to make him
persevere the treatment.

something quick so that there is some visual change or

How do he relates death here? Death means any

condition or experience thought of as like dying or being
dead, to the extreme.
Here the patient feels that the process of tretament is

going to end now as there is no desired progress and he

I prescribed him a dose of Aconite 30. Immediately after

taking medicine patient got relief. Just in 10days time the
hair falling stopped completely and then the new hairs
started growing.

an out come of the extensive clinical trial and tested all
over the world. Those who are not fully acquainted with
this method feel that it is not true. But we have been using
it successfully to the relief of innumerable patients
suffering from both acute and chronic illness. It is also very
useful in emergencies.
Let us discuss some acute cases:
Early in my practice when I started doing this method, a

gentleman came to me with the complaint of a number of
large warts on the face. He told me, "I have taken a lot of
homoeopathic medicines already. One of my friend told
me that you cured him very shortly. That's why I came to
you. If you can make me all right in a day or two only then
you give me medicine because I can't take medicine for a
long period. As it was a case of warts I felt little scared to
prescribe on this method because of my early prejudice. I
explained him that, "your problem would go only with
Homoeopathy, so give me appropriate time."
I asked him, "How long would you wait?"
He answered, "I would like to be alright in your clinic right

now."

I gave a dose of Belladonna 30 and called him after three

days. I couldn't believe my eyes, because all the warts had
fallen off and the face is totally clear. I was surprised not
even a single scar mark was left.
Let us discuss another case.
A small boy of two years was brought to me having very

high fever of 1060F. His parents told me that he was
admitted in the hospital for last two days. The temperature
temporarily comes down and then again shoots up.
He was on his mother's arm. As soon as she sat on the

stool, the boy leaned forward and lifted my pen. His
mother took away the pen from him and kept it on my
table. He started weeping. After few seconds he again
took the paperweight from the table. Her mother took
away the paperweight forcibly from him and kept it on the
table again. He started weeping again. Then he insisted to
go out of the clinic with his father. His father told no. This
again made him cry.
I took the following Rubrics:

A dose of Belladona 30 brought down the fever in few

minutes and the started playing on his own without being
obstinate to carry out his wish.
Another case
A young man in his early twenties consulted me for the

problem of depression. He said, "I have deep sadness,
excessive gas formation, psoriasis and asthma, but at the
moment the problem of depression is most troubling me.
The problem of sadness started 4-5years back, when I
was preparing for the competitive examinations." During
that time this young man used to isolate himself and keep
on studying continuously. Of late, he started thinking of
coming suicide. When he used to study his mind get
occupied with suicidal ideas. He is afraid lest it may
happen. It becomes uncontrollable. "I try to divert my mind
but I can't. I fear death. All these things aggravate when I
am alone. To avoid the same I have to keep somebody
with me to get assurance. I was very much depressed
because of not getting through examination and not
settling in life.

Mrs. S brought to me for her problem of paralysis, which

started after a fall in the bathroom. After the fall patient
was unable to get up, but her conscious was maintained.
Her husband asked her, "should he bring some doctor,
she denied but she asked him to take her to the hospital
where she would be examined thoroughly." So she was
taken to the nearby hospital where every investigation was
done. She was found to have cerebral infarction,
otherwise all the other investigations were normal. All her
limbs and muscles of epiglottis are paralyzed, because of
the same the process of deglutition is not possible.
Consequently she is unable to eat the food. She has been
fitted with an Kyle's tube in the food pipe and is been given
the food through it. But now its three months time. There is
no improvement in her paralytic condition. So somebody
referred her to me for treatment.

After taking a dose of Belladonna very next day there

came a sensation of movement in the epiglottis. She went
to the doctor and told everything to doctor and he removed
her tube immediately.
Mr. R, age 40, suffering from depression for the last

25years consulted me. He showed me number of tablets
he has been taking for his problem. Patient complained of
having heaviness in the head, sleeplessness with aversion
towards. He gets tired very easily. Day by day becoming
unable to perform his duties. He told me that I have been
taking this large amount of medicines for so many years
continuously with no effect. I never feel good. I have no
enthusiasm. After taking these medicines I have
developed even impotency. I want to stop the medicines. I
have no energy at all. After a little exertion I get tired
mentally and physically as well. My BP remains high. All
these conditions are affecting my business. I always keep
on thinking, sitting aside. Nobody is helping me out from
my family and my in-laws family as well. I am very much
upset about the behaviour of everybody around me. I have
started even consuming alcohol.
At the end of the case taking when I asked him how did he
planned to come to me. Then he showed me a reference
letter from my friend who referred him to me. When I saw
the date, it was referred a year back. I asked him why did
not he came to me earlier and how he planned to come to
me today. He told me, "I was just passing by your area. A
thought suddenly came to my mind that a doctor referred
me to you, so I thought of coming to you. Please doctor,
make me free from these allopathic medicines. It is very
long time now that I had been taking these medicines."
Mr. A. Kumar, consulted me for the problem of

sleeplessness. Patient complained that I could not sleep
nicely at night since a long time. I have the problem of
sugar (showing me a report, which states fasting sugar
169 and PP sugar 232) despite taking the medicines.
There are burning pains of the soles and the lower legs.
Profession wise patient is a shopkeeper and keep on
sitting for the whole day. patient complained that I have
taken so much of medicines but my sugar is not coming
down and problem of pain si persisting. I cannot take
medicines, at least there must be some difference since I
am spending money. For me it is very difficult to take
medicines. At least I must get some sleep.

After taking Belladonna 30 one dose, patient got very

good sleep and after a month sugar level came down.
Energy level increased and started exercise etc.
Nevertheless allopathic medicines continued but doses
were reduced.
A young lady of 22, working as a MR, consulted me for

the problem of thyroid. She has been taking one elproxin
daily, despite that she has number of problems like pain in
legs, she gets exhausted very easily, has to sit many a
times while she is on the round. Patient kept laughing
while talking to me. She asked me, "Is this problem
curable? I want to give up elproxin forever." TSH was 6.2
with taking one elproxin daily. She gets out of breath and
gets exhausted very easily.

Mrs. M, age 43years has the problem of persistent

bleeding PV for three months. She had problem of
depression and gastric ulcers for the last 10years for
which she had been taking allopathic treatment. The
bleeding, despite taking treatment, did not stop and
consequently causing great weakness. She tried so many
medicines but without relief. She cannot sleep because of
her mental anxieties and worries. One very peculiar thing
with her is, she does not eat chapaties for last so many
years and she cannot look at the food. The husband and
other family members forced her to take the food but she
reacts very sharply. She had very severe pain abdomen
ever since the bleeding started. Patient cried and told me,
"I am in great trouble. The sufferings and the problems are
so much so that it is unbearable." She had chill with pains.
Now the doctor told her to go for surgery which she is
avoiding. It is like adding more burden to her.

After a dose of Belladonna 3X the bleeding stopped

immediately. Her mental condition also started improving
day by day and followed by regular menstruation. The
condition of gastric ulcers also started improving. She had
vomiting of blood twice, in between which she used to
have quite often before taking this medicine.
Two gentlemen who are brothers came to me for similar

problem i.e., there are very big eruptions on the neck and
in the scalp. It appears like a growth. It is very shabby to
look at. Both of the brothers had grown up the hairs
unusually long and have the collars of the shirts up. I
asked him why they did so.
They told me, "It looks very bad. Actually he just covered
the eruptions with collars and with hair. I feel ashamed if
anybody ask me about his problem. Somebody sent me to
you. Please make it all right as soon as possible. Both the
brothers have exactly the same problem started at the
same time, tried same doctors and have exactly the same
reaction. Both of them were given Belladonna.

Case I
Belladonna is such a person who readily believe others as
we saw in the above mentioned case. How easily he got
convinced and got ready for treatment.(credulous) He is
such a person who doesn't know much of the tricks.
(Naïve) Actually when this person comes in contact with
others the above mentioned qualities makes him to get
under the control of others, which ameliorates the
condition. (MAGNETIZED - amel. & MESMERIZED;
being) and it is also his own feeling that if other patients
having much bigger diseases can be all right why can't I.
But it is his nature that he cannot continue with the things
if it is going to take longer period, because to obey all the
restrictions of treatment is not possible for him. so he
wants that things should be done as soon as possible
even before the possibilities as we saw in a patient. He
wanted to get rid of his warts at my clinic itself in a
moment. (CARRIED - desire to be carried - fast)
Case II
In this case some other characteristics of Belladonna
patient are getting very prominent. Many a times such
things are overlooked by the physician. As stated by the
great master Dr. M.L. Sehgal that when a patient comes
into our clinic he expresses himself in one or the other
way. if we take hold of the information expressed by the
small child. We can set some example cures. I would not
had been able to get the mental symptomes, if I inquire
the patient. Must see how unusual it is for such a small
child in such a high fever of 1060F. But it is the expression
of nature.
Actually why this patient touches everything lying nearby.
It is the playfulness and desire to play behind the above
mentioned direction which compels him to touch
everything. Secondly it may be a desire to know what it is?
One may easily be mistaken by seeing the reaction of the
patient, if he is refused to do such things he cries, which
may be thought otherwise a normal reaction but it is not,
because such a small child in such a high fever cannot do
this type of reaction. Instead he shows obstinacy to do it.
(WEEPING - refused, when anything & OBSTINATE,
headstrong - children)
Case III
Belladonna is a kind of person who takes the things very
lightly and wants to have the life-style which is not
burdensome. Secondly to bear the pains and suffering is
not possible for him. He starts weeping when he has
suffering at mental and physical level to stand is not
possible. Because repulsive. (ANGUISH - weeping, with)
does not accept these things when forcibly given to him
however good for hm may be this lady doesn't want to eat
chapaties, but react it very sharply.
(RAGE, fury - medicine, from forcible administration of)
actually anything which is burdensome or does given him
pleasure, hardly matter it is good or bad. He accepts
lighter things, atmosphere etc.
case IV
Now let's takes some chronic cases. It is equally effective
in chronic and most difficult complicated cases. Actually
the people have created a picture in their mind that
Belladonna is a short acting and it is useless in the deep
seated pathology. But it is not true to see its effectiveness
in chronic cases. Lets discuss a few cases.
Belladonna are very enthusiastic in beginning. When the
undertake the things the energies get exhausted after a
least labour. Then they must want to stop the activity they
are doing and want peace all around. Very often patient
gives us this expression that they have to discontinue
these work to recover the energy. (QUIET; wants to be -
repose and tranquillity; desires)
They actually do not want a long resting period. They
recoup as early as they depleted which can be done even
while sitting, by taking some drink or even having a chat
with someone. So it could be anything which would serve
their purpose. (REST - desire for)
Case V
In this patient the main point of his frustration is why
doesn't he get relief when spending money. He wants the
reciprocation in turns of money he has been spending
must get relief. Otherwise no reason to continue the
treatment.
To continue he wants reason, that is his philosophy.
Belladonna is a person who undertakes things but to
continue it is problem that too when no benefit is there.
So, it becomes a burden which is intolerable for the
Belladonna patient.
But it doesn't mean that Belladonna is always like this. He
can continue to take medicines even for considerable lack
of time if it is explainable to his reasons. He feels like that
if he wold not take medicines how he will fight back
because to exist he has to do so. (OBJECTIVE,
reasonable & DELUSIONS - war, being at)
Case VI
Its an other side of Belladonna. A person who is so non-
serious who takes the things very lightly and is never
affected so deeply that he may think of committing suicide.
He has a desire to live the life the way he wants. He want
to enjoy it but the other side of the coin is exactly opposite.
In the above case the gentleman took up the challenge of
settling the life and put himself into the business very
seriously. So much so he isolated himself from the rest of
the world and kept on studying and studying. (AILMENTS
FROM - mental exertion & EARNESTNESS)
But when he could not get through to achieve the target he
got affected very deeply. He just kept on thinking over his
failure and got disappointed. It is very much unlike the
most popularly known Belladonna i.e., frivolous, non-
serious, light desire. In this case there is stuck up at one
point. (BROODING - disappointment, over ) The
disappointment affected him so deeply he could not come
out of it rather started thinking of finishing himself. The
person who is never affected so deeply and has desire to
live can think of suicide because of the pains (SUICIDAL
disposition) Such type of thoughts do come to his mind
whenever he is alone to check himself lest he would not
do so, he has kept a person with him who keeps the eye
on what kind of activities he is doing. It is very close to the
rubric FEAR - self-control, of losing, but no Belladonna is
there. In fact the person think of committing suicide when
there was no restriction i.e., nobody to ask hm what he is
doing. The purpose of keeping that man with him was only
to create restrictions so the appropriate rubric is
SUICIDAL disposition - walking in open air, while. After a
dose of Belladonna patient had fever which went of on its
own and the problem of psoriasis erupted which was
suppressed earlier. After that the patient is just free from
such type of thoughts and get a tremendous generalized
amelioration.
Case VII
After coming to this method of prescribing I got the
confidence to prescribe Belladonna in chronic cases but
not to the level that problem of thyroid can be cured. this
young lady suffering from the problem of thyroid wanted to
get rid of his medicine and malady. She came to me for
this purpose but had not had the confidence that it could
be cured. During the whole discussion she kept on
laughing and talking me that I want to be free from taking
treatment because daily she has to take the medicine
which is a burden for her. These three points were most
stressed:

So, I prescribed her a dose of Belladonna, which settled

the whole case in one year time. The characteristic laugh
of Belladonna is, it is a very non-serious laugh which is an
attempt to something as explained by Dr. M.L. Sehgal or it
may be just a jesting. Its meither derogatory nor serious. It
is a weapon of Belladonna to lighten the atmosphere and
to hide things and at many times Belladonna hide the
weeping by a daughter. In laughter it expresses his
naiveness and frivolity, as well.
Case VIII
On seeing these two brother with long hair, which is
looking a bit unusual, I asked the patients why have you
such a hair style. Actually when I was talking to these
persons they appeared to be very gentlemen, this type of
hair style was unbecoming. Then he told me it is just to
hide the such problem they are having, because otherwise
it is quite visible and everybody asks about it, which gives
a low feeling i.e., INDIGNATION & HIDING - things. Hiding
things is the thinking of Belladonna as explained by Dr.
M.L. Sehgal. It is the theme around which the whole story
of Belladonna revolves.
Dr. Sehgal always warned us that we have not to
prejudice in the drug pictures. What I mean to say is hiding
is not always present in the patients. On the contrary we
may find patient in the other state i.e., NAKED, wants to
be, that too in delirious state. A patient of Paralysis came
to me. After taking the full case I asked him to show his
arms by just removing the shirt but steadily this patient just
removed all the clothes and got naked to show me all the
lady parts. So we have to take the state of mind whatever
his present, persisting and pre-dominating in a given case.
This paralytic case get alright with one dose of
Belladonna.
Case IX
In this case at the end of the history patient showing his
frivolousness about himself because he came into my
clinic very casually i.e., just he was passing by and
thought of taking the medicine. Because the treatment he
had been taking is getting burdensome.

So, there are number of states to which Belladonna can
be selected. Only a few of them has been explained
number of other remarkable cures with Belladonna has
been done which are difficult to mention here because
Belladonna is the well proved medicine. It has got a fast
symptomatology. Its not possible to touch every aspect of
the drug. Knowingly a substantial portion of this drug is left
from which I apologies.
A CASE OF BRYONIA
A motorcycle mechanic of age 24years consulted me for
the problem of pain in lumbar spine which was diagnosed
as having some dudge in L3 and L4. He had severe pain
in the back, any movement is extremely painful. Patient
got confined to the bed. but somehow he has been
attending his shop daily.
I asked him, "You are in such an agony of pain then why

do you attend your business."
He replied, "Doctor, I don't do anything at the shop. I have

one assistant out there I just keep on telling him to how to
work. I can't let any of my customer go off. I am worried
about the business, how to sustain without working. It is
getting difficult gradually. I do get up at time, if pain is
better I do my job. The business has one down drastically.
I never had any problem earlier. I couldn't understand how
this strange disease has come. I can't tell you anything
about it. I just can't keep on lying on bed.
I am very much worried about future if I get confined totally,
who would work for me?

A CASE OF ARSENICUM ALBUM
Mrs. P, age 22years, came for consultation to me in an
emergency condition. Her platelet count was 14,000
(Normal - 1.5 lakhs - 2.5 lakhs). She was diagnosed as a
case of Thrombocytopenia. Though she was taking
treatment from various hospitals, her platelet count was
not increasing. She was put under steroids after which she
developed pain in legs and back, gastritis and swelling of
the face.
She told, "Since my marriage in Oct 2002, I have one or
other tension."
She elaborated, " At the time of the fixation of marriage it
was decided that me and my husband will stay separately
and no member of my husband's family will live with us.
But after the marriage all my in laws started staying with
us in the city. For all of them I have to do the household
work which is very tiresome. Further they are not so
civilized because they are from village background".
"They don't know how to behave with me and also with the
neighbors. If me and my husband are lying in the bed
room, my brother-in-law without any hesitation would enter
and lie down with us in the same bed".
"All these things upset me. I don't like all this. I can not tell
anybody about my problem as I have a fear in my heart
lest it may take some unwanted turn. I cry helplessly,
"whom I should tell"?
"At the time of marriage it was decided we would stay
separate but no body, in my in laws house pays heed to
it."
"All the members in my in-laws family loves me very much.
I also want to work for them but my physical condition that
is pains and weakness does not allow me to do so. I can
not fulfill their expectations, which upsets me very much.
That time, it comes to my mind, "why they have forgotten
their promise they made at the time of marriage"?
She further added, because of this extreme weakness and
pain in legs and back she can not get up and do her
domestic chores. She used to bleed heavily at the time of
menses. But this time it became very difficult to control
that even with the treatment. This dropped her Platelet
count to as low as 14,000. Since then her problems are
getting worse day by day.
She told, " I just want to be quiet.. I miss my family very
much. I feel good if some body from my parental house
comes but then I feel sad because how long they can stay
with me? They have their own duties and other works, if I
tell them my condition they will become upset which will
again trouble me."
" I always want somebody with me, may it be my husband
or somebody from my parental house. I want no body from
my in-laws family, I just don't want to see them. During the
sickness I get extremely irritable and impatient."
"Do any thing doctor to make me alright immediately so
that I may start working. Do anything doctor, but I should
be alright without any further delay. Make me that strong
so that at least I should be able to do my household work.
Later on I can continue taking medicine for the full cure.
All the time through out the case taking there were two
things I observed which was very important:

A CASE OF ACONITE
An old lady 68years of age, was operated for CA ovary 7-

8months back. After few months the symptoms
reappeared, i.e., low grade fever , loss of appetite and
weight loss etc. She went to Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute,
Delhi where she was operated earlier. The CT abdomen
was done and found that the disease has spread to the
peri hepatic and peri splenic areas.
The doctors at the Institute then planned to give her

chemotherapy as the condition of the lady was not that
healthy to go for another surgery. She was advised to go
for regular checkups before the chemotherapy. During the
various checkups this lady became disappointed with the
behaviour of the staffs and other doctors. They were very
harsh. They were behaving with her as if she is a
commodity and not a human being. She decided not to go
for the chemotherapy and left the hospital.
Somebody told her son homoeopathy may help her

mother in this situation. As soon as she came to know
about this she got very happy. They called me at their
house to see her.
The lady started talking in a very soft smiling way, started

the history from her childhood before partition. She had
problem of asthma and regular gastric problems. She went
on explaining details of every problem she had since her
young days.
I didn't notice any fright , terror or anxiety on her face

during the conversation.
Dr - "You know you have cancer and and it is spreading,

how do you take it?"
Pt - "I know about my disease. At the same time I also

know that if I get right medicine I will be all right. As my
son told me about you, I have developed faith that you can
make me all right. I do not want to go back to the hospital
for chemotherapy. Those people are very harsh. I am an
old lady. I cannot breath properly. I cannot walk and eat
only selected food. I cannot cope with their way of dealing.
I have fainted in this process of checkup every time I was
taken to the hospital. When I hear the name of the hospital
I start getting uncomfortable."
As soon as I told her that you will have not to go to the

hospital now, she cheered up and started smiling.
She said, "I can eat medicine for any length of time. But
please give me such a medicine so that cancer should not
increase. I want to stay at my home, my family members
are very good to me. They are so nice to take care of me."
I asked her, "When you didn't want to go to the hospital,

then why didn't you refuse?"
She answered, "I don't know what happens to me that

time. I get confused. I just cannot tell anybody what I want
to say. I say opposite of what I intend to tell them."

It has got some physical very important & significant
symptoms like DRYNESS of all the mucous membranes
with excessive thirst. On exploring its mentality it is very
handy drug, which brings very many great cures.
A gentle man came to me for the treatment of pains in

various joints i.e. elbows, knee joints, phalanges etc for at
least 20years. He said, "I have been managing all my
sicknesses somehow without taking medicine, by
practicing YOGA or by taking domestic medicines etc. I
always avoid taking medicines. As, it is not good to take
medicines for small small troubles. But off late the
problems are worsening. As I am visiting Afghanistan
regularly for business purpose, my gastric problem is also
troubling me. I thought of taking Homoeopathy. It is very
good medicine. It has no side effect over and above that it
has developed a lot now a day. It is cheaper as well.
In other pathies one has to spend a lot just for

investigation. This gentle man residing in a posh locality of
the city, but was wearing clothes like an ordinary person. I
asked him, you avoid taking medicines that why you
thought of taking medicine now. Actually, the pains and
the gastric upset affecting my business. Because of that I
can't got to Kabul so frequently. Earlier, the problem was
bearable but now it is difficult to bear it and hampering my
work. To work it is must. If, I would manage the food for
my kid. So give me such a medicine, which would put me
back on the track.

are in such an agony of pain then why do you attend your

the amount he has is being spent which is making him

It is one of the well proved remedies by Dr. Hahnemann
almost all the symptamatology has been brought out. The
homeopathic community has used it very frequently. Its

patient has a basic feeling of insecurity and which taken

Child of age 6 brought to me for the treatment of recurrent

perfuse on waking, as soon as the child saw the bed sheet
soiled with blood, got frighten. Apprehensively he asked
his mother how come this blood, how all this happened

Analysis of the case -

in her lap. She just slips down and leaves her mother and
starts playing with the things around. X- ray of the wrist
shows changes suggestive of the rickets. Mother told that
all her milestones started late. As per her physical and the
mental activity is concerned she tries to do things, which
are slightly bigger for her age. On the contrary she does
not know where and when to answer the call of nature.
She just soils her cloths and keeps on standing and never
tells when urge is there. She never wants to be carried
despite having problems in her legs. On the contrary she
like to do the things which are bigger for her age starts
pushing the furniture, playing with the tool, tries to iron the
cloths etc.
The most of the writers have taken a dull aspect of

remedy, no doubt calc is a dull, slow especially in

sick she is very reluctant to come to take medicine. The
parents fed up from the child now for quiet she has the
problem of headache and dim vision in the classroom. I
referred here to the ophthalmologist who diagnosed the
problems mentioned above. She immediately changes her
mind and insisted to come to me. It was surprising how
she was ready to come to me. She said,' I won't put up the
spectacles it would make my look shabby. No one will look
at me. I won't put up the spects she said shriekingly
[weeps and laugh at the same time] while giving history
she has been laughing a lot.
"My mother is a great problem for me, she always interfere
with me, she never let me to do things the way I like, she

she never left her alone. If I go to tuition she will always
accompany me. She doubts me. The people would think

works are over, she gets herself busy in some activity that
is not required at all. She always keep on working and
doing this and that. I asked her," you have three daughter
in laws, why don't you let them work"
" Oh I would work, it is their time to enjoy." I have enough
time. Other wise hoe I would pass my time.
She never goes to a doctor even, keeps on ignoring the
treatment. On the contrary she keeps on working.

Cancer Case -
A lady Mrs. U Sharma suffering from rectal adeno
carcinoma grade II. She had the problem of diarrhea with
passage of lot of mucous. It agg eating after. Very painful
condylomatas are there at the anus it causes difficulty in
sitting and washing the parts after stool. Extreme
weakness is there. He cannot eat proper food, thee is pain
abdomen bitter taste of mouth. At times only mucous
passes per rectum. The investigation shows no
secondary. By the time she was brought to me she started
passing blood even. The allopathic doctor told her to go
for the surgery. They suggested that they will close the
natural passage and will make an artificial one by fitting a
catheter. There is extreme pain in the lower back and in
other joints. She is unable to walk. Keep on lying in the
bed. Patient is not at all ready to go for the surgery. I
asked her, why she does not want to go for he surgery?
She explained, I can not listen about surgery or other such
events, it always leaves me very affected.
I want to live only for a short period until my younger so
get married. It is matter of few months only. Why to take
so much of suffering etc. secondly I hope homoeopathy
has got so many medicines, which can cure most
obstinate problems. I cannot bear that torture given at the
name of treatment in the hospitals. I cannot bear to see
even others in the hospital with so many pipes and niddles
etc. and otherwise too I have to get my son married only.
Hardly matters what happens after that. The patient said
that why to get into such a big trouble when homoeopathy

case is still under my treatment. I have been treating this
case for the last three and half years. At times I have to go
to calc 6 , 12 and 30 when required. but his case is being
managed amazingly.

Chammomilla (detailed Case studies)
Such a common remedy is homoeopathic world. I think
there is no homoeopathy, who cannot tell something about
it. That something is so significant, every case requiring
Chamomilla does have it and that is its mentality.
Every school of thoughts in homoeopathy can recognize
very well the mental state of it or so categorically it
emerges no one can miss it. Moreover, it becomes criteria
to prescribe on.
So it is an answer to all though who disagree that mental
state can’t be basis or in others words bearing aside
physical mean no totality.
The irritably and the sensitiveness of the remedy are two
invaluable assets to prescribe on all the homoeopath are
very much acquainted with these two asserts and
recognize them very well & prescribe this remedy always a
satisfactory results. So is true of every remedy. I think

Way back I had a case of psoriasis totalis of a young girl.
She took treatment from various places. But, no
differences this, even she was continuing from me for quit
sometime without satisfactory relief, at night she use to cry.
It was horrible to look at the patient. Her mother told me,
she does like small child, becomes obstinate to have
chocolate, ice-cream, water ball etc. Still I was leading to
no where. I took the case many a times. But nothing was
remedy as state to prescribe on. It was only few months
after joining Dr. Sehgal School. Parents were getting
discouraged. I asked them to come to me next day
morning, so that I may retake the case once again. It was
hot summer. By chance I got late reach my clinic, so were
the case with my assistant. The sun was shining hard, she
had to wait there. As soon as I reached at my clinic. The
peculiar eye look with frowned face were directed at me.

clinic, I said, good morning.

After a dose of Chamomilla she passed a lots of urine and
drink at least ten liters of water in whole night. But
gradually came to total freedom from such a dread
disease.
To be patient for Chamomilla is not possible, they want to

get the things turned very fast. The sensitivity to pains is
so great that leaves them uncivil, impatient insolent etc.
Many a times patient with severe colic or other suffering
comes to our clinic. They just do not wait for their turn. So
restless and impatient. They generally have frowned face
and irritable look manifest vividly. I do put a dose of
Chamomilla which relieve the agony and every time it
does yeoman service. Chamomilla not infrequently
indicated in the world of little ones. I have a son. When he
was only nine days old, got viral fever that too at night.
Started crying very loudly. Then I took him in my lap got
quiets. I took the temperature. It was just 990F. But again
after ten minutes, started crying very loudly. Not at all
ready stay for a moment with me. Then my mother took
him. Then he star for few minutes and started weeping
again so impatient does not want to taken in lap. If we put
him on bed, no ready stay then whole house got perturbed.
It was difficult to find a comfortable place. Trying to give
him toys its very difficult to calm down. On the contrary
getting worse and worse. All family members got ready for
hospital. In the mean time I reached at Chamomilla which
settled the affair with no time.

The capricious is a great key factor to Chamomilla
prescription.
If we look into this patient, why he is so restless at only
990F temperature. In fact sensitivity and irritability are so
great. He wants to have relief which he is not getting.
He is appeared momentarily by carrying them starts
weeping again. It is his problem. He himself does not
know what he wants. One moment with me and other
moment want some else and so on. Wants to be carried
one moment which relieves him for a second. All this is the
‘CAPRICIOUSNESS - rejecting the things for which he
has been longing; when offered, he is’ just because they
can’t have what they want, keeps on crying and shining
and whimpering. To manage such patient is a just
impossible even the attendant becomes irritable. It is very
difficult to make them quiet.
It does a yeoman service during period of dentition, the

painful cutting of teeth, diarrhea, dysentery etc in most of
the cases obviously when indicated by a peculiar state of
mind.
3. A few days back a lady came to consult me for the pain

in the back. I asked her what is your problem.
pt. – “You don’t give me medicine (angrily). I have such a
pain in my back I could not sleep. I was so well. This pain
and disrupted the whole work. Already I am in such a
condition I can’t work. All the family members do say me
this and that. I don’t why I can’t do work properly. I do not
where does my mind go. It always a get reproaches from
my family members. Whenever I do work, they keep on
watching me which make me irritable, I am just working. I
become extremely angry . if told something about the
things I have done I felt insulted, I try my level best to do
things rightly, I feel it when things go wrong. But this all
because of interfere from the family members, my
husband and other family members make irked. So I took
the composure. Then it becomes impossible for me to hold
myself, I just beyond myself and start abusing them, with
the result I have to have headache, pains and
breathlessness etc. I do not want all that. But invariable it
happens. I am just afraid that I do not do things properly,
everybody points out. I feel insulted.

She puts efforts very earnestly so that the works should

impatient. She feels whatever she does in not fast enough

leaves him. Whom and how he gets dishonored and
insulted. It is very difficult to know. She does not forget
even the must trifling complain or vexation happened to
him, keep on complaining, never happy with present
things wants something new. What new? Does not know,
makes her restlessness and discontented etc. so
dominating always others very critical and faulted finally. I
when Chamomilla would be happy and cheerful. Oh! Yes,
it is only in the fa . in fancies so much hight is there which
is just not realistic very jealous, malicious person he is.
Really, it needs even the stronger words to express the
right feeling or inside stuff of this remedy. So many desires,
many a times mother complains that her son does not like
to eat what is ready, always shouts why not this and that
vegetable. If that is per then why not an other one and
dose of Chamomilla very often settles. The capricious
make so perturbed that it becomes very difficult, live with.

Such a patient requires Chamomilla very vociferously

A 6-7 years old child brought to me and had no appetite,

and weeping. it is intolerable. It is difficult to appease him.
It is an old story. We just leave him aside and he keeps on
weeping and weeping and weeping. when he gets
exhausted as friend would go to sleep on his own. We do
not attend him simply. The Chamomilla generally in the
end that it is better to leave the things upto fate and get
settles.

Cocculus Indicus
Cocculus Indicus is one of the many drugs explained by

Dr. ML Sehgal in his writings.
He understood it and just gave the synopsis in one rubric

i.e., RECOGNIZING - everything - move; but cannot -
catalepsy; in.
Let us try to understand this rubric:
Recognize - Acknowledge, validity, character claim

discare-nature, identify as known before. It is the
knowledge of something in full extent, not mere
awareness. The fact is fact (reality). To know the pros and
cons of some, which may or may not be agreeable. But
what is happening before the eye and understandable to
the mind in detail is recognition.
Reality - The facts, truth, which cannot be denied, may or

may not be explainable.
Move - To show some movement, reaction.
Catalepsy - Disease characterized by seizure or trans,

lasting for hours or days with suspension of consciences
and sensation.
The philosophy of the Cocculus Indicus patient is to
recognize the facts, the reality, the truth and not to show
any reaction or movement. In Dr. Sehgal words 'ACCEPT
IT'. The recognition is not done reason; merely move
overdone without emotion. The acquaintance re-affording
the decision to do not move is done after proper
circumspection and mathematic. These are two things
which help him to reach at conclusion to accept the
question which is not within reach to answer or in other
words as said by Dr. ML Sehgal, "What cannot be cured
must be endured."
This resolution is reached only after proper and detail
acquaintance, otherwise Cocculus Indicus does have a
rubric 'FIGHT, wants to'.
Case 1.
Mrs Pushpa, age 46 years, came to my clinic. She is
having problems of bleeding per mouth and having severe
pain in the lower jaw. She is unable to eat. This problem
started after the last delivery that was 24years back.
At the moment, she is having severe weakness. She is
unable to get up and to do her daily routine for the last 4-
5years. She just keeps on lying on the bed but takes no
interest what is going on in the house.
I asked her, "How does you take her sickness?"
She explained, "My problem is for quite sometime. I have
been to some celebrated doctors and hospitals in the city
but my problem is increasing day by day, pain is
increasing and bleeding is also. I am unable to eat.
Doctors said that I should go for some more investigations
but I won't. Because I know my problem is not going to be
cured. I don't want to give pains to my family members
and also relatives, because nothing is going to happen, I
convinced."
"My biggest problem is that I cannot open the mouth
properly to eat the food. The liquids and the foods start
dribbling out. I feel ashamed when I have to eat in front of
others. I do not tell about my pains and sufferings to
anybody, that I use to have at night. During the daytime, I
try to laugh to hide the gravity of my disease from other."
I asked her, "How do you come to take the homoeopathic
medicines when you know that your disease is
incurable?"
She replied, "I know my disease is incurable, but I will take
homoeopathic treatment just for the satisfaction of my son.
It might be possible that I may get some relief."

discussed case of Cancer of mouth. Patient's psychology
is not to take the treatment any more. And there are
enough facts she has. She has given explained her facts

not reach what this disease is and what could be the fate
of disease. When top doctors of the city are not able to
treat me, that means my disease is incurable. I have taken
so many treatments but none is able to bring any result."
"Why do you not want to go for Fulter investigation?
"Because, even if you come to know the name of the
disease, how dies it matter?"
"Now I have to live with the pains and all that. I am not at
all ready to do any thing any more, it hardly matters."
She is just showing no concern about the treatment, i.e.,
'INDIFFERENCE, apathy - lies with eyes closed'.
Despite all that she came to me for the treatment because
her son wants to take treatment for her. If she does not
take treatment they feel sad, worried.

"If something happens, it is my luck." (Hopeful) Patient is

not demanding anything from me. Whatever the condition
is and kind of health she has is enough for her.

Secondly, she is very much perturbed with one thing that
she is not able to chew the food properly. While eating
food in front of others she gets a sense of indignation.
During the day she tries to be happy, so that the other
person should not come to know about gravity of disease.

A dose of Cocculus Indicus 6 was given, that produced
tremendous relief straightway. She was kept on important
care.
After three months CT scan was done. There was no
malignant growth; the patient is still under observation.
From the above case it is the concerns of others which
brought the patient to me. Patient shows very deep
respect and regards to people around them. She extends
her cares and compassions to others.
Case 2.
A young lady was suffering from low grade fever for few
years. She has been having the ill health for since a long
time. She explained me that her mother died 5 or 7years
back and it is she only who has been taking care of the
entire household and other members of the family. Along
with that she was working in some office. She told me, "My
father is an old man. He is not able to do more for his own.
I use to take care of him as well. There is hardly any time
for my own. On the contrary, even during ill health I have
to manage all this, otherwise the life at home goes out of
gear. None else bothers about the father. All brothers are
elder to me, but they do not know how to run a house.
Ever since my mother passed away I never let them felt
motherless. I do not feel bad about working, but this ill
health intervenes. It stops all my movements. (Angrily)
Secondly this dysmenorrhoea. Oh! It is intolerable. The
pains and flow is so copious that I just cannot do anything.
All my brothers have to cook and to do other household
works. My father is at such an old age. Nobody is there to
help him. I feel it. I love my father very much. I always
remain worried about him. Just because of him I am not
going for marriage. I just cannot leave him in others care.
The health of me is getting problematic now. Somehow, I
was managing all this for years. But now, I am getting sick
very often. I know that my father is not going to live long.
So I think I should extend each and even services to him."
I asked her, "Why did you not take treatment till now?"
She replied, "Just because I did not find time earlier,
always one or other work is there."
Analysis: In this case, the whole story revolves around
the facts are cares, sympathy, compassions which this girl
is doing. She has all the feeling of pains what her fathers
is having and other family members experiencing.
Because, they do not have mother. She is trying to fulfill
the place of mother.

These are the patients for whom the concern of the others
plays a great role. They are very considerate. If they fail to

Now, the ill health does not allow her to do any work. The
disease intervenes and disrupts the patient's normal flow.
This is something intolerable. The patient always wants
the things to happen smoothly.

She is so attached to her father that she postpones her

marriage.

The dysmenorrhoea and excess menstrual are again
produce the same problem. That's why she gets the

She is so much involved in her business that she does not
find the time for herself. The personal care and
requirement of the treatment is taken place away by
consideration of other's requirements. This is due to her

At time, she becomes angry out of frustration due to her
inability to meet the requirements of others or interruption
in the normal flow.

Actually, it is not in her nature. It is the disturbance in her
normal flow of life, which makes her derailed.
During this process of caring so much about the others,
Cocculus Indicus patients get slant loss of sleep when
nursing the sick people, like this lady who has been
attending her old father. And they get ailment from night
watching.

others. So Cocculus Indicus 30 was given to this girl. All
her problems settled gradually with lot of expulsions and
she could serve her family very well.
Case 3
A young man of 28years consulted me for his problem of
migraine for many years. He told me, "I have taken
treatment from so many doctors. Every one said that I
have to it. They gave me the strong pain killer but no
relief."
"Actually, no one understands my problem. People do look
at my age i.e., 28years only and my physique. On seeing
me no one can have the idea that I am so weak from
within. On the contrary, they say that such a strong and
young man you are, you should work. They use some
rough language even. In the initial years, I kept on learning
all that.
I tell you doctor, it is very difficult for me to get up in the
morning so early and to slant mark."
"I measured the BP. It was 90/60mm of Hg. I do feel
heaviness in the brain. It is difficult for me to think, no
energy at all. I feel emptiness in body and mind as well.
No one listen me. I just lie down in my bed room.
Nowadays, as long as the attack persists I do not bother
about any work. My condition does not permit me to do
anything. At that time, I feel that I must lie down,

patient has exhausted of his energies. Now, he does not
have the energy to sustain to work. He feels weak. In early

I was called to see a case of the uremia. As I entered the
house of the patient, I could hear a snub.
The old gentleman lying in the bed was abusing his wife, .I
asked the patient what happened why are you shouting at
your wife. He replied because she left the bathroom tap
slightly loose. Because of which the whole night water
kept on dropping and disturbed the patient sleep. This
nonsense lady doesn't know that if I would not sleep how
painful the night would be for me. These people do not
understand that patient like me needs a comfortable
surrounding.

Hyos Case
A lady aged 40years was referred to me by one of her

friend. She had a gynecological problem. She bleeds
every time during sexual intercourse. She had bleeding
per vagina i.e. a few drops of blood passes in left aspect
of lower abdomen and very painful menstruation. It was
diagnosed as a case of cervicitis and the gynecologist
suggested an operation. On getting the biopsy done it was
found to have abnormal cells in the picture suggestive of
malignant nature.
The patient did not go for the surgery and opted for
Homoeopathy. But at the same time she has a lot of scare
that lest the problem take some serious turn. Time and
again she asks many questions regarding the disease like
" I have seen many female who had similar kind problem
and later on it developed to cancer".
She gets biopsy repeated every month despite the doctor
told that it should be done after every six or three months.
The bleeding per vagina has been happening since a long
time. She said, " I was unable to decide where to go when
my doctor suggested me for an operation". She has very
severe constipation and lower back pain in L.S. Spine.
I prescribed her a dose of Hyoscyamus 3X followed by

placebo for a month.
There was a tremendous recovery. In course of four to five
months all her problems got settled and the biopsy
became normal.
Analysis:
1. As soon as she came to know about her condition as
told by the gynecologist that she may require a
surgery, she became hopeless. This is something
which she never wanted. Because she has a lot of
scare that during surgery anything can happen. Since
it is a major surgery. (FEAR - injury - being injured; of)
2. She resorted to homoeopathy which is the safest one
according to her. But a lot of scare in heart, keep on
checking, getting biopsy done time to time for the
sake of knowing the movement of the disease.

poison. They would seek help from a unknown person
who has nothing to do with him. These are the fears
that never leave this patient.
Case II
A boy of ten years of age brought to me for the treatment

of asthma. The parent narrated that the child has a very
serious disease; recurrent allergic bronchitis. During the
change of season he gets attacks very frequently and has
to be nebulised and hospitalized very often.
I inquired about the child, "How he behaves during

sickness?"
The patient explained, "It hardly makes any effect on him.

He never complains of any problem at all. But anybody
who could see him would be moved, the child is in great
agony during the attacks. More to that he keeps on playing,
attending school etc. It appears as if no effect is there on
the child."
Even in the clinic he was sitting right in front of me and

touching everything i.e. my stethoscope, my computer and
books etc.
The following rubrics were taken:

1. HIGH-SPIRITED: There have been recurrent attacks
of difficult breath. Child remains very much lively,
vivacious and energetic. It is the parent's anxiety
which brought the child to me. He is just as energetic
as ever, full of life. He does all the activities
enthusiastically. Perhaps the impact of the disease on
the economy is so meager that it leaves the patient
feel like OK.
2. WELL - says he is well - sick; when very: He does not
feel like sick. During the attack when the child was
brought to me. The first question I asked him was,
"How are you?" He replied, "I am fine" smilingly. But
to have a look at him was fearful any moment he
could have been suffocated.
3. Being in such a agony he was touching all the objects
lying on my table, despite the parents stopping him.

A dose of Hyoscyamus 30 settled the entire affair. After

that never went to the hospital for nebulization.
I observed that during fever in Hyoscyamus patients, the

stupor supervenes and the patient keeps on lying
indifferent, they do not complain of their suffering and they
give a very pleasant smiling.
Otherwise too they are so foolish keep on laughing while

sitting in waiting. It appears to them every thing around is
ludicrous. At times they try to smile forcedly not from the
heart.
As explained by Dr. M.L. Sehgal that they are very

deceptive personality, but they project as, it may not be
true. They never tell the facts. From within, deep inside
they might have great fear or insecurity. They never
believed the persons around, when they are stuck up they
would seek the help of a person who is not around. They
become so cautious that they never take a chance. They
would prefer to suffer but do not believe anybody around.
Case III
Mr. X, age 43years, consulted me for the problem of

eczematous eruption in the groin region and on the
testicles. It is of 10years standing, all the skin is cracked
and oozing. Itching is so much so intense that he goes
mad. Just want to rub all the time. By profession he is a
Chartered Accountant, but it is very hard for him to wear
clothes etc. he tried allopathic first, which relieved the
problem but later increased. Then took homoeopathic
medicines which also worked same way. Then he went to
some big hospital of the city. They gave him some strong
dose of the medicine, which added to the agony, the
itching reduced but then happened severe difficult breath
and abrupt weight loss and the blood pressure went to the
lower side. Patient got very weak, no stamina left. It
happened 8years back. Since then he has not dared to try
it again. But has been taking homoeopathic treatment and
left all other treatment.
As the time passes away, the disease is becoming

stronger and stronger, but he has been taking
homoeopathic only.
I asked him, "Why you have been taking homoeopathy? It

is giving you no relief ?"
Then he explained, "I have no option left. I can't even think
of other medicine. Allopathy has worsened my situation. I
have determined that I would bear any suffering but won't
try allopathy again. I have prepared myself to bear it but
sometimes it goes up to that extent that even it is very
difficult to bear it. Then I just get confused, I don't know
what to do? Why it is not leaving me? Doctor give me such
a remedy that may relieve my suffering. The man who
sent me to you spoke about you in a very high manner. If
you would relieve me I would give you a number of
patients suffering from this kind of sickness.
I prescribed him a dose of Hyoscyamus 3X. On the next

visit after two weeks the patient explained that he got
tremendous relief in all the problem. The itching and the
texture of the skin became normal. The complaint of low
blood pressure and others which happened after taking
allopathic medicine got alright.
After taking medicine patient had frequent urination that

too at a fixed time. It happened daily with that there
happened improvement in general health. The weakness
started going off and ultimately the patient got 100% cure.
His working efficiency got increased.
Analysis: the homoeopath who was treating him was

considering the rubric 'PERSEVERANCE'. Which looks
like as well. But there was no result.
I took the following rubrics:

When the Hyoscyamus patient is stuck up i.e.
DELUSIONS - seized, as if. Because of the danger he
could guess ahead, puts him in to delirious condition and
may be the second option as follow.
1. The fear of being injured, which he could get from
other treatment, causes him to prepare to continue
with his disease or enemy. He feel like that he can
have a cordial relation with enemy.
DELUSIONS - marriage - going to be married; is
2. Due to exceptional itching and rough condition of the
skin it is difficult for him to put on cloths.
NAKED, wants to be - hyperesthesia of skin, in

grievous turn by and by, a state which earlier was
been easily to move along, now taking shabby turn.
DELUSIONS - driving - peacocks
Peacock - It is an ostentations display of beauty which is
totally uncalled for or it is a fleshy display. To show off.
When the patient 8years back decided to move along with

sickness and homoeopathy, it appears as if it would not be
that problematic. But like the peacock, whose beauty
comes close to the shabby legs which gives very ugly look
as well. So in this case with the patient after he got
married with disease i.e. accept it to go on for long
association, then he could find that it is very difficult to
move on with the peacock.
When I asked him why he has been continuing with

homoeopathy despite no relief? It was because he cannot
rely upon other treatment which may cause some more
damage.

Ignatia Case
One of my patients brought her sister to me for the
treatment of pain in epigastrium accompanied by a very
strange behaviour. Before bringing her sister, my patient
told me about her sister, that she is not ready to take any
medicine.
She told, "if anybody asks her to take medicine she just
answers, "I want to die, kill me, give me some poison" in a
very harsh tone.
She asked me, "Can you treat such case?"
I told her, "I will try my best."
She took appointment and the very next day she brought
her sister to me.
The lady started narrating her history, "Do you have

medicine or injection which can kill me, I don't want to live.
I feel there is no need for me to live."
I changed the topic and asked her, "what is the real

problem"?.
She said, "I have very severe acute pain in epigastrium. It

was diagnosed as a case of cholelithisis, for which I have
been operated recently, but despite that the pain is still
continuing. During the pain, I become very angry and
irritable. I am unable to eat any food and physically feel
very weak and am reduced to the bones."
Her sister intervened, "Doctor, she has number of mental

stresses. She is not in good terms with her in laws. They
always complain about her rude and angry behaviour even
with the elders."
I asked her to explain the cause of her extreme anger.
Suddenly she shouted, "I want to kill my mother-in-law or

myself" and started weeping and sobbing.
She continued, "I was married 8years back. Since then my
mother-in-law has been torturing me. I never tried to do
anything bad, but my mother-in-law always criticises me
that I don't know how to do the things, how to prepare food.
If anybody comes from my house she always tell them that
I don't work properly. I don't know anything. She always
tries to put poison into my husband's mind against me.
Doctor, I always keep on working. I never answer back my
mother-in-law unless it exceeds my threshold. I know that I
should behave nicely with every body. But they should
also do the same. If they cannot regard others then why
should I do? I am their daughter in law,that does not mean
I don't have any self respect or regard."
"My husband is also changed now and he always keep on

showing red eyes to me as reprimand etc." She further
added, "Doctor, even my parents do not believe me. They
also started saying that it is me who is wrong and not my
in laws."
Her sister again intervened, "she had been neglected

since childhood". The fact is that she is the eldest child.
Being the first child In the family, in the beginning she was
loved very much. But as soon as the younger child got
birth, she was totally neglected and the new born got all
the attention. Since then the problem of her mood swing
started. Then things progressed day by day. She became
very irritable, angry etc. She started withdrawing from
social life. Her father was a dominating person, always
commanding others. She could never express herself.
I asked her, "you want to either kill yourself or your
mother-in-law. But you never attempted to do either of
them?
She explained, "If I would do either of them, it would give a

bad name to the reputation of my family. People would
laugh and mock at my papa that her daughter has done
like this. But, what should I do? Neither the condition
improves nor I could do this immoral act. I want to kill
myself, give me some poison. I do not want to survive. I do
not want to listen comments from my in laws as well as
from my parents. It exceeded all the limits. The kind of
insult they do I cannot bear."
She cried and added, "Now I do not have energy to

continue all this. My health is not keeping well. The pains
are so much that I cannot tolerate now, whom should I
tell."
This was a simple case. Let's analyse it thoroughly to

understand the mental state of the patient.
Let's take the very first line of the patient's statement and
analyse : "give me some poison or injection to kill me. I
want to die".
In fact, she doesn't want to do so. It is because of the utter

frustration and a reaction to the situation she is living in.
She wants the doctor to help him to die.
SHRIEKING - help; for
Many times patients come and ask straight, "Doctor, give

me an injection or poison, I don't want to live anymore,"
with very irritable tone. This is nothing but "SHRIEKING -
help; for".
Why she is shrieking? Because the things are not

happening as per her wish. She cannot bear further more.
Had she wanted to commit suicide, there are many other
ways of doing so. Then why did she want the doctor's help
for doing so? She didn't have the courage to do so.
COWARDICE
She told she wanted to murder her mother in law but

never attempted to do so. On the contrary she kept on
bearing the atrocities. When asked why she never tried to
do so? She replied it is because of the social status they
have and her act would castigate her parents as well as
her in laws in the society. Above all, her mother in law is
elder to her and should be respected. Because of the
social constraints she thought it is better to bear the
atrocities then to do any immoral act.
This is nothing but:

She didn't want to talk to any body and always withdraws

Most of time patients use to tell "What is the need for me

to live"?
It does not make any difference to others, if I live or die.
This is nothing but shrieking. The shriek part reflects the
need of urgent attention to the subject.
Actually the kind of torture mother-in-law inflicts through

out the day shakes her from within. It hurts her dignity,
which is all important to this person. When her mother in
law complains everybody about her she feels very down
as it lowers social status.

Here, horror to this patient means any sort of criticism

which hurts her feeling and she becomes irritated. Till the
time her moral and conscience are strong she keeps on
bearing everything. She suppresses her anger and didn't
react. She feel, "I always work for them and they give me
such inhuman treatment." She feels insulted.

All these above analysis points to the very fact that, for
this patient honor and position in the society is very
important. She feels that these two things are to be earned
at any cost. She is moral and conscientious to the core.
But when her morality is suspected and exposed wrongly
in the public, it becomes unbearable. All her endurance
ends and she erupts like a volcano. She becomes mad
which is reflected in her anger, rage, violence. She revolts
against authority and deny their control over her. She
fights back for justice denied to her without thinking about
the consequences.
Defiant
Audacity
Injustice cannot support.
In this case she had been fighting since last seven eight
years but there is no improvement in the relation with her
in laws. To add to this, the disease further broke her to the
finish. The continuous fight in the family and struggle to
project in the society that nothing is wrong with them had
drained all the energy in her and she is not in a position to
fight back further.
Disconcerted
A stage comes when she feels that she has to bear all this,
even god cannot help her, even to die.
ANXIETY - salvation, about
Follow up of the case:
A dose of Ignatia 30 was prescribed with Placebo for a

week. The pains went off immediately. The food which she
was earlier unable to eat started eating now. Gradually the
general health started improving.
After a week when she visited me she realized that living

along with others is better than staying alone. She told, "I
work for my child and I have no idea of suicide or
committing murder of my mother-in-law".
If we go to the Ignatia symptomatology things would be

clearer.
Let's consider some more rubrics to make its picture clear.

Ignatia is a very genuine person; he does things with all
the seriousness and honesty. The word neglect is not
found in his dictionary. He works with full faith, loyalty, and

M. L. Sehgal: "Being so loyal and honest earns in turn a
repute and position. Any work assigned to him or any duty
is being done by him without any mistake."
I had a lady patient, who had just missed her duty for one
day. On the entrance of the clinic itself she started crying,
"I could not go to the office because of excessive bleeding
during menstruation."
I told her, "there is nothing to cry that much; I would give

you a medical certificate."
But she sharply replied, "I didn't come for medical

certificate, you make me alright I would like to go to the
office."
What I mean to say, the Ignatia patient sacrifices

everything for his excessive concern for his duties.
I sometimes wonder though Ignatia has so many qualities

for righteousness and duty especially doing things on his
own, why this remedy is not found in Egotism?
Ignatia never boasts of her own qualities rather pulls down

others to gain upper hand.

She never reconciles with other's good qualities. She

would always criticize other's performance. She feels she
is the best and other's are below her standard. She cannot
withstand any objection to her way of working.

There is a peculiar rubric in Ignatia: DELUSIONS,

pregnant, is distension of flatus, if there is
Let's understand the words of this rubric:
Pregnant - Producer of result fruitful

- Inventive, full of meaning, significant,
Flatulence - Wind, empty in speech, pompous, self

importance, pretension, high showing or extremely
artificial behavior or style of writing.
That means, this person has a false feeling of self-

importance because of the pretension and ostentation.
She feels that she is pregnant which shows her capacity to
produce results. But in reality it is nothing but distension
from flatus. This show the claims she makes are not true
but false. This she makes just to earn position and
reputation in the society.
Affectation
There are number of rubrics in this remedy which happens

during menstruation, after menstruation or before
menstruation. Though they happen during menstruation
but the effect appears to influence the mind hence put in
the mind section.
This means Ignatia always want to be in the state of

pregnancy. This indicates Ignatia always wants to be in
the state of fullness. The mind works prolifically during that
period generating some innovative ideas. She aims to go
higher and higher during these period.
As soon as the menstruation appears pregnancy comes to

an end.
That's why Ignatia is in the rubric Remorse menses after.
Menopause is further worsening situation for Ignatia.

Because that is the end of sexual life. The fertile period is
over. She feels after menopause no body will give
importance to her as she is now unable to produce. This
condition brings on embarrassment for Ignatia which
makes her extremely irritable and angry.
Many times patients come and say, "lc vPNk vPNk jgsA",
all the goods should come to me.
They are very jealous to their siblings. If she is ignored

she cannot bear it. Rejection is intolerable for her.
Once I want to see patient suffering from Ca Ovary. There

were few secondaries and the abdomen was full of ascites.
She was unable to eat, to pass urine etc. She couldn't
sleep for so many days.
When I entered the ICU, she was angrily abusing all the
staff and doctors and was crying, "Take me home. I do not
want to stay here, all the doctors are fool here. They do
not listen to me. They do not understand their duties. They
even don't have knowledge how to handle my case."
I didn't ask anything and thought of this remedy on the

basis of following rubric:
SHRIEKING - help; for

DELUSIONS - doomed, being, cries and rages
IRRITABILITY - pain, during
After a dose of Ignatia 3X she slept for two hours which

she did after more than one year. On waking she took
food and then passed urine and in span of three days she
was sent home and still she is enjoying the good life. I
have repeated the dose as per the symptomatology.
Being dependent is great curse for Ignatia patient. They
always tell that I should be at least able to manage myself.
FEAR - invalidity
But destiny has its own role. The disease or the

circumstances sometimes makes you such that you
understand that you are nothing in front of the all powerful
disease or nature. You have to avail the services of others
and then Ignatia realizes what wrong she has done. She
feels that she might have committed some crime. Then
she feels that everything is finished, she is ruined. When
no body listen to him, she feels irritated and the she
remembers those golden days of her past life.

A young man age 26, suffering from aids was admitted at
the hospital. One my friend took me to see this patient. As
I entered the hospital I came to know that the fallow is

whose prognosis is not favorable, death is certain. But we
intended to try he homeopathic remedy medicine.
I had a talk with that person. As I met this person it was
miserable look at him. He was reduce to the bone there
was no flash at all. This young man had 50-60 times
diarrhea in a day. Had TB. And the doctor told him that the
inevitable event of death is very near. I asked this young
man how he contracted this dreaded disease he told me
that he and his colleague use to visit the prostitute. For the
last two year he has been struggling for the life. Very
affirmatively he stated that he is not going to die. He said
this doctor bullied me into this ward, but I will show them
that I can be all right. I asked him, how? You are so sure
that you will be all right.
The condition at the moment is very verse and secondly
there is no treatment available for this particular disease.
He is an educated person he know very well pros and
cons of the diseases, but still very affirmatively saying that
I will show these doctors that this can be cured. On his
face there was no sign of despair or gloom I asked him
how he has been so positive about getting all right and is
there is no anxiety about the family. He explains me story
that few years back he had bad health, and there was no
chance of survival. That time I was in Calcutta, I used to
go to a temple of sirdiwala baba.
He made me all right then. I am doing prayer to him
constantly and with all the devotion he will help me to get
out of the situation. That situation was dangerous than
this. Only this belief has been giving me all this positive
thought. Whenever my wife and my son do come to see
me in the hospital it gives me bit of negative thought but
immediately I lift my self. I do not let my self-lost into the
world of miseries. Because I am sure that one day I will be
all right.

Because of this religious belief he felt he will come out of
this crisis and has got the power to swim against the tide.
This is the only reason that this individual is not at all

pessimistic in his attitude towards the problem.
But when he thinks of his family and about his son, he

becomes little depressed. He never gets swayed away by
that state of depression and tries to overpower those
feelings of depression and swim across to the positive
side.
BUOYANCY - alternating with - sadness

To the utter disbelief of the military doctors his diarrhea

stopped. He felt energetic from the next day onwards and
wanted to eat solid food. After a week the patient felt much
better, the food intake increased and the general condition
of the patient started improving.
After few days he was shifted to the general ward and

then he got discharge from the hospital. He lived like a
normal person with his family.
As his medical condition was not fit he was given

discharge from the defence services. He started doing
accounting jobs at home as he was a MBA.
His mother who had never visited him when he was very
sick telling that he cannot be her son as he suffered from
this disease for which the village has outcaste them,
visited him after three months. He became very emotional
by seeing her. She insisted him to come to the village at
Dharmashala and stay with his other brothers. He readily
obliged as he loved his mother very much.
His wife and all of us were aginst his decision to shift to

the village as the attitude of the villagers in India towards
this type of disease is not very good.
He didn't pay any heed to our advice and shifted to his

native village.
A week after his wife rang me that he has gone into coma.
I enquired," how it happened"?
She told, " one of their neighbour came and spit on his
face telling you have spoiled the name of our village in the
whole area and no daughter of this village will get married
till you are alive."
After this he cried a lot and told her wife that he may not
survive to see such humiliation. Suddenly his urination
stopped. He was rushed to a nearby hospital. They
inserted catheter but he went into coma.
Next day his wife rang me that he is no more.
If we analyse the situation of the patient at that moment

consideration Nux vomica is a great agile person. He is
always concerned with perfection. He is a pragmatic
person who believes in practical aspect of the things.
Once he decides to go, he hardly bothers about how
difficult the things are. He put himself into the business
and tries his level best to bring out perfection and positive
result. He is ambitious to get name and fame. He loves
working even at the cost of his health. Even he takes the
help of the stimulants so as to maintain his tempo for a
better result.

He is shocked by the humiliating feeling of other towards

A lady, 27years old consulted me for the problem of

infertility. She was not conceiving even after five years of
marriage. She took treatment from various fertility centers
but could not get the result. The last suggestion was

She answered,"my mother told me such type of procedure

is no good. I have also seen some of my relatives who had
gone for such treatment, permanently damaged their
uterus." she could not conceive afterward I asked her still
you are not so late then why you want the treatment.
Patient started crying that a lady is complete only when
she has a child secondly if you go some where people do
talk about this issue only. After all it is a deficiency in a
person and I worried about the future nobody know about
that what is going to happen in the old age. If one has the
child her position in the family and in the circle is
respected because of this problem I have lost confidence
in my self I can not do even a smallest of work in right
way. Should it happen once at least. It is a great curse. I
do not visit my parental house even just because the only
talk about this. I feel ashamed.it gives me great pain
weepingly.it is intolerable.one feels nowhere in the society.
The people come up to me and give the suggestions and
consolations which is one thing I am fed up of. One can
not weep even. I don't like such type of consolations etc. I
have collected the information regarding primary infertility
from various books and internet as well. I have been
putting every effort to resolve my problem but I think god is
not listening to me. He also help those who doesn't even
pray him.

Why she can not cry before everybody, keeps quiet, with

thing which gives her great indignation and realizes that
she is incomplete. This is the reason she doesn't like to
visit her parental home even.

resolve his problem, but when does not succeed gives him
embarrassment.

EGOTISM,' all these rubrics creats concern about the
social position. The limitation she does have is creating a
great concern, because it gives indignation and when
comes the failure gives the embarrassment which leads to
'BLASPHEMY -cursing and'.
On the basis above symptoms a dose of Nux vomica 30
was given to the patient. In a week time the mentality of
the patient is totally changed. Now she is not that worried
when this problem will be eradicated. She is much relaxed
mentally very confidante and positive but no to the extent
of disease. She is not worried now about the social status,
she does talk and very happy. After two months she
conceived.
Mrs. A 31, running a play school at her home, she keep

her work up to date does every thing in a nice manner.
Has the problem of recurrent UTI after the last delivery,
which she had six year back. Extreme pain in lower
abdomen and in legs. She had taken many courses of
antibiotics but the is recurring and getting worse with every
attack she has extremely painful menses. Before menses
she becomes depress and quiet. She is extremely irritable
during the problem of UTI. She doesn't like to be talk to.
She wants to take rest but can't have it as she has to look
after her school. There, at school she has to behave in a
nice manner with the children. But, is became difficult as
she has to go the toilet time and again which causes break
in her work and it does not look nice to go the toilet so
often, the other colleague ask me what is the problem. I
feel angry when I have to leave the class. It is irritating, the
pain is something, which I can't bear at all, it disturbs me
and my work, it is one thing, which disturbed me at lot. I
want to go away where there would be peace and silence.
I am exhausted even after a little work, I want a break.

her to keep the things up to date. But she has been trying
her level best to do so which becomes a disturbance for

It is the pain which creats all these problems may be
physical or mental. Because it causes interruption and
disturbance in her work, which she was to do in a most
perfect way. Actually why disturbance in the work creats
irritability and anger, if we see the rubrics

IMPRESSIONS' we cannot leave the job unfinished and
on others. Because he does not rely that other would not
do the things in the manner she likes. This gives the
feeling he should do everything on his own. So much of
work loads squeeze out his energy and leaves him
drained out. But Nux vomica is obstinate and pertinacity
and very ambitious which compels him to do unless the
ambition is achieved.
DELUSIONS - die - must; she - it means that she has not
to die literally but she puts these words because she is
over loaded with the works and the situation described
above causes irritability and anger and quarrelsomeness.

A dose of Nux vomica 30 was given to her which settle her
all the problems. In a course of two months not only she
get rid off her physical problem but mental as well.
Miss. m 16 year consulting me for the problem of lack of
concentration. She has dysmeroria anemia constipation
since child hood. She is mentally under develop can't
articulate properly does action like a child. At times she
becames extreamly irretable break the thing line near by.
Patient stated I can't concentrate. I can't remember the
things what I learn today all is forgetn at school I can't
recollect. Because in school they asked the question in
different way. I get confused. I do not answer any
question. Because I can't speak properly, I think the other

to talk and not to. She feel embarrassed that she doesn't

changed. It is new environment and now I appear for the
board examination, I took the challenge to get through. I
asked her why it has became a challenge for her. She told
me that her mother is a teacher in the same school. If I

A person 46 years having severe headache with
hypertension 150/110 mm of Hg came to me for the
treatment. Patient said that give me such a medicine so
that I should be alright with in no time.actually I do not
want to to have any disturbance, noises around me. On
the contrary he keeps on working. I want perfectly quiet
atmosphere and becomes irritable if the children make
noises. At times even give a slap. I asked him why you
want to be alright shortly. He told me,’dr. I am not earning
enough ‘and I feel guilty of any spending on myself . It
gives me pain. I feel hurt within, when I do not work , I
have no right to spend. I always avoid taking medicine,
until there is pressure from the family.

After being acquainted with the system, way back I had

not had the confidence to put the things into practice. I had
lots of timid in transacting business. Ultimately, I was
stuck. Somewhere started groping as if in the dark. Then
one of my very close friends explained me to go for it
before the things exceed the limits.
I resorted to this system and got an amazing result.

Perhaps, it is the one medicine which has really helped at
those moments when nothing was left. I cannot keep from
citing the first case which happed to be the turning point in
my career.
It was a case of eczema, a lady, abroad the country side

came to me for the treatment. She tried there for years,
took treatment from various hospitals and dermatologist.
All that could give her was temporary relief. Then
somebody brought her to me for homoeopathic treatment.
I started the treatment. I tried various medicines, but
nothing could happen except addition to her problem. The
condition became bad to worse. The eruption got spread
all the body over, oozing very sticky, watery fluid from it. It
was horrible to look at her. The itching was very worse.
The eruption spread over the face and around mouth. It
got difficult to eat food even. Many a time I asked the
patient to go some other doctor as there was no relief. But
she was never ready to leave me.
One day I asked her, "As there is no any relief why can go
to some other doctor?"
On this question she became adamant and told, "Why
should I go any where else? Where I should go? I do not
know any doctor or hospital in Delhi. Why you brought it
out? You would take me in your car, wherever you want? I

condition clinic. Go in to the fields then you would come to
know, how to earn the money. (She started quarrelling) It

She became very irritable and did not ready to listen
anything. Her speech was getting louder and louder.
Since it was the beginning, I could understand only the
one and only one rubric that is 'FEAR - extravagance, of',
because the words she was using interpret her condition
to this rubric. So I prescribed a dose of Opium 30.
To my surprise, it gave her tremendous relief. It eased her
condition wonderfully. Not only that, but also it gave her
prompt relief. This was first time when I could see that only
single dose works and established the cure.
Then I became very enthusiastic to work on this system
exclusively. After a long study of this case I could find out
some more rubrics like:

Let us analyze the above symptoms:
The patient has really tolerated the affliction of disease to
his threshold. Now the pains and suffering has exceeded
her tolerance power. It is not in control of her tolerance,
because the things have been progressing gradually and it
seems to think that if it would continue like this, it can
cause some incurable damage.
FEAR - extravagance, of
Sidewise side she has been showing me that just look,
how afflicting the condition is. She said, "I have tolerated
the pains too much. There must be some relief. I have
been spending money and time."
AILMENTS FROM - embarrassment

These are things which make her irritable and delirious
and she starts speaking non-sense, despite being in her
sense.
Every time she came to me, a dream. By telling her that
she would be alright. But there is no any relief. On the
contrary it has been worsening.

Sometimes all of us are surprised by the coming of the

patient whenever there is no any relief in their condition.
This kind of patient would not leave you. They are
embarrassed themselves and so do they make the doctor.
In fact it is there great problem that they cannot make their
way out. They do search, but it is impossible for them to
get it and leave doctor. On the contrary they cling them
and would ask them, "What to do now? Where to go
now?"

Case 2
A lady of 32years had a very sever problem of vulvitis. It is
so much so intense that she scratch it like anything, even
she did remove the outer skin and caused ulceration of
that part. After itching there is very intense smarting. This
was all told to me by her husband. Then I asked him to
bring his wife inside my chamber.
I asked her to explain her problem.
She just smiled and looked at her husband.
I repeated my question.
She did again the same gesture. Bashfully she said, "I
have told every thing to my husband. He would explain
you."
Then her husband added further that she had taken
treatment from various dermatologists, but there is no any
relief. The problem has gradually increased to the extent
that the specialist said that she is likely to suffer from
cancer. Because he had tried every thing possible. On
listening this she went to many Tantriks etc. but of no
avail.
She is being brought to me by one of my patient.
I again tried to talk to the patient.
She reluctantly said, "I don't know what to tell, where to
start? You please ask my husband."
Then she added, "The problem is scratching. It is so much
that the part starts hanging down. There are deep cuts,
oozing blood and if washed they do smart intolerably. It
has been there for many years."
Her appetite has gone very poor. She does not use to take
more water, because more intake of water forced her to go
urination very frequently that gives her intolerable pain.
1. CONFIDING
Actually, the Opium patients are very bashful and
awkward. They feel shame by telling their problem.
Secondly, it appears to them that how and where they
should start 'their problem' from? What to tell and what no
to tell? This all comes from confusion and groping as if in
the dark. That is why they prefer to confide their problem
from someone else.
2. INDIGNATION - discomfort; from general
She feels a sort of ingratitude by telling her problem to
others. She feels like a discomfort and a sense of
indignation to talk something private about.
But once they are shown the direction or helped out by
somebody they are not going to leave them, rather put all
the responsibility at other. CLINGING - grasps at others.
So after a dose of Opium 6 started improving gradually. In
just span of two months time all the eruptions and cracked
and abnormal appearance were gone. She enjoys best of
the life no.
Many a times this gesture happens before us. But
generally it is over looked. If a girl have some problem she
feels shy to tell it to doctor. They come with someone else
and would tell that her problem would be explained by the
companion.
One of my friends called me up for the viral fever. It has
been there since 10days. He himself is a doctor. It has
been 10th day now.
He said, "I have pain all over the body. It is beyond my
tolerance. I do not know why I am not getting relief
whereas I myself have treated so many patients. They all
get cured in 2-3days, but in my case the fever is not going
down even an iota. It is now 11th day. I have been to my
clinic. Please give a medicine so that I come out of bed."
Always glimpse of extravagance are apparent. But in this
case some other rubrics are important:

Actually this state comes in very often, especially in the
acute diseases. As the diseased condition puts restriction
on the patient, whereas the other people enjoy the good
health, eating and every damn thing. Then it cause
embarrassment i.e. why it happened to me only. People
do eat so much of food, I just took one piece which made
me so sick.
A young man of 28years was consulted me for the

problem of CRF. At such a young age was told to
transplant kidney. He had persistent problem of vomiting.
Every time he ate something, came out though vomit. He
became very anemic. His Hb came down to 6
But still this man was managing.
I asked this person, "Why do not you go for Kidney
transplantation?"
He explained me, "Since many years doctor has told me
that it is mandatory now. Doctor has told me that my filters
are not working. But I couldn't understand that if filter is not
working then how I make urine. On the contrary, I am fine
moving about. It is only vomiting which is making me so
week. I do not want surgery. It hardly matters, at the most
I would die.
One of his relative told me that he still drunk. We tell him
to stop the alcohol, but he does not stop.
I asked him, "Is it true?"
He replied, "It is the only thing made me so. It has pushed
me in to this condition. I don't know, what happens to me. I
just forget everything when it comes before me. Then I
relish it.
If my relative comes up to me to suggest me not to do so I
get angry. When they ask me go operation I feel like
perhaps they would kill me. I cannot bear them. Please
give me some medicine to be feel good. Now the condition
has come down to great extent. It has crossed my
tolerance now. I cannot understand the need of operation.
I try to myself but when I saw some improvement. It just
feel OK and go for it e
Analysis: The very first question can be that 'Why he is

opting for Homoeopathy?' despite there is not scope as
explained by doctor. In fact, it is the patient's feeling that
he feels like no necessity of its. Because according to his
thinking, when urine out put is okey, why operation then.
This was taken as 'DELUSIONS - disorder; objects appear
in'
Secondly, keeping patient's thinking in view, it is the
vomiting which gives him problem, whereas the other are
like blood urea, s. ceratinine, Hb, how does it matter?
INDIFFERENCE, apathy - suffering, to
DANGER - no sense of danger; has

contrary says that 'end the most it is death'.
He came for treatment, as if nothing has happened;

knowing fully the consequences.
AUDACITY
He does not believe his doctor and relatives, who are

pursuing for operation.

Instead of knowing the fact i.e. the gravity of his illness, he

is not stopping the intake of alcohol.

And when any relative or others come to him and shows

their concern, he tells them not to do such sort of thing. He

On the basis of all these symptoms,. Opium 30 one dose
was given which did remarkable work. His attitude towards
the sickness got totally changed. He started eating food.
The blood urea and serum creatinine came down
gradually and substantially. Patient lived nicely after that.
He surrendered himself for surgery. But the clutch of the
disease was so strong even surgery could not help him
and ultimately he expired. But whatever the life span he
had after taking the medicine he lived life like a normal
person.
If we go to Opium symptomatology, there are number of

factors which are responsible for such type of attitude.
HIGH-SPIRITED
CONTENT - quiet; and
DANGER - no sense of danger; has
In fact, this rubric HIGH-SPIRITED plays a great role to

bring the state of indifference. Small petty things make no
impact on this individual. He remains full of liveliness, full
of enthusiasm. Because of the same, he over looks his
small-small problems.
These problems keep persisting and go on aggravating.

Then when it starts exceeding the threshold then it
becomes a matter of concern. It creates fear, anxiety,
worries etc.
Patient then becomes Alert and Cautious. Then health

takes the priority. He tries to make his way out to solve the
problem. He sits and thinks.
BROODING
MEDITATING
When the problems keep on increasing, the hope fades

away and the disease becomes worse then the patient
goes into a alternating state from cheerfulness to sadness,
grief and ultimately to irritability and discouragement
CHEERFUL - alternating with - sadness

IRRITABILITY - alternating with - cheerfulness
HOPEFUL - alternating with - discouragement
I had a patient suffering from Typhoid, before coming to

me he took treatment from somewhere else for three
weeks. By the time she reached me she got very much
perturbed. I asked her, " why you are so much irritated and
perturbed"?
She explained me in an irritated and a low shrieking and a

bit of weeping tone, "what is this happening with me? I
cannot understand. The temperature remains very low in
the morning and in the evening gradually goes up. I have
been taking medicines for such a long time but things are
as it is. In the morning when fever is less I feel good and
feel like perhaps no fever would come in the evening. But
in the evening invariably it is there. I have lot of works to
do. I do not know what to do. I am fed up".
A dose of Opium 30 was given that brought down
everything and took the patient very shortly out of the
woods.
Actually what happened, as the intensely of sickness

mitigate the hope and cheerfulness comes in and goes off
as the aggravation sets in again with which patient feels
embarrassed, becomes irritate and gets discouraged.
With discouragement patient generally starts shrieking and

making noises like, "It is too much, now I would stop
medicine. What is the use of taking medicines if nothing is
happening?" he would speak in a louder voice. If you
would try to convince the patient that there are so many
problems of yours, which has gone, even the remaining
problem is too less. This does not make any difference to
him, in the contrary he feels that it is still a big problem.

Stramonium
Many times we get patients who turn up very abruptly from

nearby places. I use to wonder, when a patient who never
visited me before, came very frightened and amazed. On
asking, since how long you have this problem? They tell,
"My father told me that this can take a serious turn. I got
shocked and came all the way to you, what it is exactly?
Otherwise I am not afraid of it, but I know lest it should be
serious."
Next to my clinic it was a barber's shop. Many times the

patient dropped in to my clinic from there. When he told
some of the patients that the wart they have are glands
which may be cancerous or tubercular.
Only after getting the tips from the master I could treat
such patient with Stramonium, which infallibly gave the
desired result.
What I mean to say is that these are the patients who

would show no concern about their petty problems. When
explained by others they get frightened and terrified. It is a
great character of Stramonium, which is not found in any
other drug.
Let me explain it through some cases:
Case I
I had case of blind child, who got it after a fall from the bed
at the age of six months. The child got injury of the head
and lost the eye sight completely. He had been to various
eye hospitals but could not get result, ever tried
homoeopathy from doctors.
The parents narrated the whole story to me. They told me
that if the power supply goes off the child starts striking
anything nearby with a peculiar expression of fright on the
face with tremor and he tried to take hold of the things
what so ever nearby. Secondly he always enjoy the
company of his sister who is elder to him. If anybody from
outside comes in and tries to play with him he becomes
very anxious.
I took the following rubrics:
1. FRIGHTENED easily - wakens - terrified, knows no one,

2. ANXIETY - strangers, in the presence of

A dose of Stramonium 6 was given. The father of the child

reported after a week that the child had very high fever for
three days then followed by eruptions on the whole body.
As soon as the phase of fever got over the child started
visualizing objects. The father stated that if they move
before him he turns his neck to the same side. The
process of expulsion remained on and the eyesight kept
on improving. 80% of the eye sight came back.
Case II
A gentle middle aged around 35years was brought to me
by one of my patient. He told me that this fellow has some
private problem. The gentle man told me that few years
back he had intercourse with an unidentified lady, after
that he contracted VD. He got eruptions over the glans
penis, which he neither can tell anybody how he got it.
Earlier they were very small but gradually they are on the
increase. Somehow or the other he kept on keeping the
thing up to him only. But now the problem is gone too far.
For a long time he didn't had any contact sexually with his
wife. It is another issue which is upsetting him. He even
started doubting his wife. Now the juncture he is in, he
does not know what to do? Where to go? The wife's issue
has made me very angry. How I should tell her? I have
become very angry. I keep on shouting on all the
members of family. But immediately I feel why I have been
doing so? I do behave very strangely. Whole night I do not
sleep. I keep on praying before God. Oh God, make me
alright."
Then he started opening the cloths. "Just see Sir. You are
my God, make me alright." Started crying, "I would die."
I asked him, "Why did you do that?"
He replied, "I was taken by my friends."
This gentle man looked very innocent. I was surprised to

know all that. If we analyse the case there are two things
around which the whole story revolves.
1. He has the feeling that his wife might have some
extramarital relationship. Because he never contacted her.
It is difficult for one to abstain for such a long time. This
has been killing him.

disease, every body would come to know, he would be
exposed. That's the one reason he is not taking treatment
ever.

terrorizing him. He has become helpless if he goes for

will kill him.

bother. But now the things have crossed the threshold.
When I asked how did he got it? The way he answered
was very innocent.

A dose of Stramonium 6 was prescribed, which took him

back to normalcy in six months time with lot of expulsions
and ultimately his health is restored.
This is how Stramonium remain in terrified state. But in the

early stage until there comes the fear of injury or the
helplessness he doesn't let the other know.
Lets' understand it through a case:
Case III
Mr. X, 52years age, came to me for the treatment of CRF
from Lucknow. He took the appointment and was
supposed to see me at 4PM on a particular date. I got a
telephone that he reached at the railway station and would
be coming at 4PM. But he didn't run up till 5PM. I again
got a call from that he is just reaching. But did not come till
5:30PM. I was supposed to leave that place by 6PM but
that gentleman reached barely five minutes before.
I asked him, "you are so late, why?"
"Oh!" laughingly, "On the way I started some sight seeing

and did some shopping etc, because I don't want to waste
your much of time. Let me tell you that I have my feet
swollen and I have H.T. Doctor told me that I shouldn't eat
this and that, but I do. Secondly, the doctor told me to go
for transplantation of Kidney. I felt there is no such need.
One has to die today or tomorrow. What is new in it? I
have so many schools in the city. How does it matter if I
die a bit early. Lord Krishna explained in the Gita that it is
the body which dies, not the soul. It has to reborn. So what
is bad in death? Truly speaking, it is my wife who brought
me to you otherwise I least bother.
Then I asked him, "Ok, lets drop the idea of medicine. You
go back to your home town."
"No, no. I would take your medicine. You just tell me
whether this disease is dangerous?"
I gave him Stramonium 30. The urea level which was

initially 112mg and creatinine 7mg, start coming down
gradually. I took the following rubrics:
FRIVOLOUS - The way he reached me on the way did

shopping etc. when reached, talked very casually.
SHRIEKING - help; for - He has come down from Lucknow

and says what is need of medicine in fact he is trying to
make show of his very strong that he is unmoved by such
a serious condition even.
AFFECTATION - As told by Dr. Sehgal this is one quality

which invariably would be present in the Stramonium. He
tried to impress upon so as to get an importance. In fact
he is exactly opposite from within. It is the greatest posture
of the Stramonium, which he never leaves. He would
protect himself before others as if nothing has happened,
he is such a great person and the disease is one which
can do nothing of him.

On the contrary he has tremendous fear at the heart, a

persistence of danger is always there which will many
manifest in between when the patient asks you that should
there any danger? Etc.
Case IV
A gentle man came from border of Nepal, very exuberantly

asked, "all the way I came down to see you".
I asked him tell me how I can help and serve him. His next
sentence was, "since a long I have been searching a man
of your caliber".
I wondered a lot and asked him to open up.
He came out, I could see a God in you, You are the

person I was in search of. I have gone to many place in
India, the cities like Madras, Kolkata, Jaipur, Mumbai, but I
got the God today. You are a great person. You treat
kidney diseases successfully. I could not understand, you
made my son-in-law alright who suffered from CRF. When
he told me all the way I came down to you. My God,
please see me as well, you first finish all your other
patients I would came later on. Your give me such a time
and attention so that no disturbance should be there.
Then he started the history.
He told me that he has edematous swelling on the feets

since very long period, but didn't take treatment because I
do not want to get my tests done.
I asked, why?
Because I know that it is a case of renal disease. This is

one thing I am afraid of most. I got my blood test for sugar
and other diseases, but not for renal disease and it is must
for allopathic doctor to give treatment. Second thing I
would like to tell you that I am a Lawyer by profession. but
very lazy to go to court. But if I could see any body who
has renal disease I would take him to hospital, spend
money for treatment and other necessities. Even I would
remain with him for all the time until he gets alright. I would
extend any service require by that person. So most of the
time I remain in search of such kind of persons so that I
may take him to hospital at my expenses. But he never
takes treatment for himself. Now by this time his ill health
and such a job has limited the activities still whenever he
comes to know that if somebody is suffering from renal
disease he can't stop doing that. But all this kindness is
limited to the patient of renal disease only. If otherwise a
patient is dying from cancer or any other fatal disease he
never show any mercy, very relentlessly goes away. But
finding ready and spending all the earning in renal patient.
I aksed him why you are so kind towards them?
Then he told me, "Dear doctor, I have such an experience

with renal patient, perhaps no doctor would have. I have
taken so many patient to various hospital none could
recover many of them died, the way they suffered I have
seen them from very close distance. First and one of them
were my own father who suffered from CRF. I know the
kind of suffering and life they live I am so involved with
them madly to find where these kind of patient could be
alright. No patient could recover. There is no such
medicine, but it is you who has done a miracle. After
seeing all these I do all my services to others and pray
before that all mighty for the whole night that no one
should have renal disease.
I prescribed him Stramonium 6, which settled all problems

just in one or two months time.
Analysis:
Before telling the case history the attitude of the patient

expressed was enough to select the medicine. But it was
necessary for patient's satisfaction.

Miscellaneous Cases
Mrs. X came to me on 9/6/05 with complaints of fibroid in

uterus measuring 13x29mm. Her bowels were not clear.
She also had complaint of pain in legs with increasing
weight constantly.
She was making gestures while narrating her complaints.
She came to me because her colleague was talking
medicine from me and was cured of her ailment.
I gave her Belladonna 30 on 9/6/05 single dose with
placebo for two weeks.
Placebo continued,
with slt increased bleeding on 12/7/05.
Bleeding reduced on 31/8/05
Stools clear
Fibroid reduced to 9.4x8.5mm
Placebo continued from 6/11/05 to 7/3/06
Bleeding regular.
Another case:
Mrs. X came to me on 30/3/06 with complaints of
apathoes in mouth, recurrent urine infection and
leucorrhoea. She had all these problems regularly for two
years. She always took allopathic medicines and get relief
for few days with recurrence again. When she came to me
I asked that why she now opted to homoeopathic
medicines. She said that her problems recur again and
again.
She had taken medicine from me 5 to 6years back for
some other problem and she was cured at that time. But
as she is very busy so she couldn't come to me. While
narrating her problems there was smile on her face. She
said that her in-laws are regular patient of mine and as
they also told her to come to me.
SUPERSTITIOUS
I asked her, "How have you got time to come to me this
time?"
She replied, "Today, I had some urgent work in the market
which is near you clinic, so I thought to visit you also."
FRIVOLOUS
On the basis of this state of mind she was prescribed
Belladonna 30 in single dose with placebo for three days
on 30/3/06.
On 2/4/06 she came reported and told that apathoas were
cured and now there was less burning in urination. There
was no change in leucorrhoea. She was prescribed
placebo for a week.
She came on 9/4/06 and reported that burning in urination
has gone completely and improvement in leucorrhoea
also.
Since then she is on placebo with much relief and coming
regularly for her medicine.
A case of leucoderma
A female of age 53years came on 8/2/04 with complaint of
leucoderma patches on nape of neck. She told that it
appeared all of a sudden in two months of time and she
couldn't notice it because on back of neck. One of her
colleagues told her about it and since then she was
stressed up, how it occurred.
She was worried that what would happen if it will spread
further either on face or any other body part. She covered
it with her hair style so that it wasn't visible to others. She
wanted it to go as soon as possible.
I prescribed her Opium 30, single dose on 8/2/04. Since
then she is on placebo and now that patches are 95%
gone, normal pigmentation is there. In span to two years
all other problems of her were cured with placebo only.
Case of urticaria
A lady aged 55years came on 28/2/06 with complaint of
allergic eruption on whole body two years. She was
diabetic and has hypertension also. Itching was
aggravated during night. She had constipation. She had
taken allopathic medicines without any relief. She also
took homoeopathic medicines for her constipation but that
worsened the constipation, so she left that. Now she came
to me by reference of one of her neighbour. She was
smiling while narrating her problems. She also has some
family disturbances which she narrated and started crying
during the narration. But after a few seconds she again
started smiling. She told me to get her relieved from that
problem as soon as possible, because due to that she
couldn't sleep also which added disturbance to her daily
routine.
I prescribed her Belladonna 30, single dose on 28/2/06.
Since then she is on placebo. This time she is 50%
relieved of urticaria with initial aggravation.

14. CASE I
15. Mr Verma who was suffering from fungal infection
in groin region and other part of body consulted me
for his problems. On inquiry he added that he has the
problem of increased uric acid levels, which has been
increasing and he experiences pain at various places
in the body. The skin problem, which is there for years
together, has now come up on his fingers. He said
“Though it is difficult, somehow he has been
managing to hide it. I am working in a construction
company. Someone or the other does point out my
problem to me. It affects my working. It hurts me so
much so that I cannot get it out of my mind and my
mind gets so stuck there that I cannot do any work,
and even if I try, not properly. Secondly, I am at such
a position in my company that I have a number of
people visiting me. If I put some cream etc over it, my
uric acid problem increases. I become totally
paralyzed and in this way my work is being affected. I
have never been a work-shy person. On the contrary
people call me a workaholic. But for quite some time
now my work is being affected. I have to deliver
results; otherwise in a private company like mine they
just sack you. Secondly my mind gets so perturbed
that I cannot think of anything else. My mind gets dull,
heavy and thick. I am highly placed in my office.
Listening to comments from people does hurt me a lot.
Just because of this problem my work efficiency is
affected.
16. ANALYSIS: By and large, in such cases we see
the whole story revolves around the self-esteem or
self-pride. The patient considers himself to be at very
prestigious position in his society or company.
17. Egotism - Which he has earned with sincere
efforts and putting in a lot of hard work. Now people
do know him as a workaholic - busy with himself. Both
ways his efficiency is affected because of his
sensitivity to the remarks made by the people around
that hurts him and makes him dull and confused and
his keeping on thinking about it.

working. Again the result is same. But the ambition of
this person is different; he is very ambitious to get
famous that too in such a manner which is congenial
to society, i.e. with all the love and warmth. They want
to be brilliant, like fire, with warmth.

27. The Staphysagria person wants his name be
taken with a lot of respect. They just dream of it.
28. DREAM; as if in a - future, about the
29. And they are lost into the fancies of grandeur.
They consider themselves to as what they wanted to

self-esteem and presumptuousness.
32. CASE II
33. A young lady working as a school teacher
consulted me for the problem of recurrent attacks of
fainting, blackout before eyes, falling unconscious.
She has also been suffering from a thyroid problem.
Her TSH level is always very high.
34. She explained “I have a tension. My school
principal where I teach is very rude and rough. She
does not bother and says anything to anybody. You
may not be at the fault but nevertheless. I have been
working in this school since its beginning. She is so
rough and rude that one cannot even dare to tell her
anything. Many a times I thought that I would answer
back, but then a question creeps into my mind, i.e.
what is the difference between her and me? I have to
maintain myself. It is a question of prestige. I am such
a lady that in school I am known as one who always
keeps laughing and joking and who has her work up
to date at all times. I have made my mind to get a
transfer to a new school. It has become difficult for me
to decide whether to do so or not because then
everybody would ask, why I took the transfer? I was
never interested in a transfer before. Being asked this
question bothers me. It is such a situation that I can’t
do anything except keep on boiling inside. But this
tension has now started affecting me adversely. A lot
of anger is pent up within me. I have become very
much confused. At the same time a fear is always
there. It would be I who would end up being a loser.
Such things hardly make any difference to such kind
of people as my principal.
35. ANALYSIS: In this case too the feelings of
uncongenial circumstances are maintained like in the
previous case. It is once again the feelings are being
hurt. No doubt about that the reason which caused
the feeling of anger but not expressed at all, may be
because of assertiveness or keeping in view her
social position. Many a time when thought in the
perspective other than that of the patient, it seems
that these are obvious reactions to a situation. But it is
all so important to take the patient’s feeling as it is.
This is how the teacher reacted to her situation and
she just bore all the brunt of the injustice by bottling
up her anger and this was just like killing herself and a
feeling of indignation creeps in. Every emotion is
suppressed. So the pent up wrath causes the
imbalance in the form of recurrent attacks of low BP
and other problems. It is the one and only remedy in
our Materia Medica which has got this reaction.
36. AILMENTS FROM - mortification - indignation;

37. Dr J T Kent put a great emphasis on this point -
complaints come from pent up wrath suppressed,
anger suppressed feelings. The person becomes
speechless from suppressed indignation; anger with
indignation.
38. INJUSTICE, cannot support – It is very difficult
for these persons to bear the injustice. But these
things mentioned below puts such a lock on their
mouth that they keep mum.

43. Such a petty thing like getting a transfer to
another school has created such a big block in her
mind. The concern about what would people think
when they would come to know that “She got
transferred to another school,” is something which
compels her to ‘inhibit’ her actions.
44. Secondly they feel that when they do not hurt
others, why others should hurt them. They appear
very mild, yielding, quarrelling aversion to. But at the
back of mind all the wrath and the past disagreeable
memories are there with which they keep in within
themselves. An unsaid chagrin remains inside and
keeps on making one restless. A dose of
Staphysagria 30 gradually settled her and reduced
the sensitivity to that particular person and thus made
her capable of settling comfortably in the same school
with same principal.
45. CASE III
46. A young lady around 35 years had pain in right
side of the body. The pain used to extend from the
nape of her neck to the upper limb and the lower limb
with swelling. This has been going on for some time.
She even consulted orthopedic surgeons for the same
and was diagnosed as initial affects of spondylosis.
Various exercises were done without any relief. Again
she came to me for the pain. Very much discouraged
and she told me, “My mom is a great problem for me.
No one is at my disposal to help me out. I have to do
all the work and look after my family, office and the
kids as well. I do not get rest. My mom, an old lady
thrown out by all the relatives i.e. sons and others,
lives with me and harasses me a lot. Whom should I
tell that she does not do anything? I mean she does
not even go to toilet to answer the call of nature. She
just soils her clothing and the bed as well. She is
hardly co-operative. On the contrary, she quarrels
with me and tells everybody that my daughter has
been treating me badly. I do not understand why she
is in such a condition, I can’t throw her out as she has
no one and nowhere in the world that she can go to. I
can’t even tell my husband because she is my mother
and it was I who brought her home. So I am in lot of
tension. There is a lot of work but with no
accountability. Moreover with these pains, though I
pull along, it becomes difficult for me to cook food and
do other activities.
47. ANALYSIS: Here once again a suppression of
emotion is occurring. She has to ‘inhibit’ herself
because of some moral feelings, conscientious and
anxiety about conscience.
48. Because the lady is old and is her mother and
has no place in the world for her. Her husband is
dead and she is all alone. Where could she go?
Hardly matters that the attitude of her mother is not
co-operative and she is putting all the responsibilities
of her care on others and this increases her work.
She did her best efforts to educate her mother but her
mother is heedless. She cried, “I can’t tell my feeling
to anybody.”
49. 1. WEEPING - remonstrated, when

54. She has put herself in trouble just for sake of her
mother and her moral feeling does not allow her to

55. I prescribed her a dose of Staphysagria 30 which
settled all her mental and physical conditions within a
month and made her efficient enough to take care of
her mother and also her family responsibilities as well.
56. What I mean to say is that they exercise a control
over their emotions so as not to expose them.
Emotional vulnerability is very great, thus get
offended very easily. So sensitive are they to the
opinion of others. They bear all these atrocities. Very
much like Ignatia and Carcinosin.
57. Ignatia – Bear the outrage without complains, but
when the threshold is surpassed and their morals tell
them that now ‘enough is enough’ then they fight back.
58. Carcinocin also tries to rise to the expectations of
others. They also want harmony around them. They
tolerate things, do their work and are congenial to
others. But they are not sensitive to moral
impressions and suppress their all desires and
emotions, where as Ignatia and Staphysagria are
moralistic in nature.
59. Staphysagria does quarrel but again it has got a
very peculiar style, very much like Belladonna. I tell
you that erroneously Belladonna is given in 100%
cases but it is Staphysagria most of the time.

65. All except the second last rubric are shared with
Belladonna, who desire to carry fast whereas
Staphysagria is hurried. Actually, Belladonna cannot
stick to a lengthy treatment because then if the
treatment becomes heavy he cannot continue.
(LIGHT - desire for) His wish is to finish the things at
the earliest and without any burden. Whereas when
Staphysagria does not get results, he gets
discouraged and manifests a quarrelsome manner of
the Belladonna kind but wants to continue getting
treatment with you. He won’t leave because a mildest
of an explanation or justification from the physician
will make him believe in getting a cure and will give
him courage and hopefulness. No doubt Belladonna
is credulous as well. But his passion to gamble only
means he tries and only if things click will he continue.
While in Staphysagria the passion to gamble is only to
make money.
66. It means that Staphysagria want things to turn
their way, which is the only reason for continuing the
treatment for Staphysagria. Many a times we listen
from patients that his or her papa or friend or ABCD
says that it is only Homoeopathy which can uproot the
problem. That’s why I am continuing, despite getting
no relief. But the envy and avidity makes him hurry,
eager to get to the point of cure. Because others
property and well being pinches him. Belladonna
would continue the treatment only with objective
reasoning and not otherwise. After exploring
Staphysagria there are many cases which got cured
with Staphysagria and all this while they were on
Belladonna. There is a fine demarcation between
‘carried fast’ and when the patient is in a hurry.
67. When in hurry or haste the person or thing tends
to move faster than normal which indicates urgency
and demands a sudden and premature result. It
usually creates a confused motion (the storm’s
approach hastened our departure).
68. Fast is more apt than hurry and it is a sustained
motion.
69. All this eagerness and hurry is always to achieve
their goal in the shortest possible time and that too
with all honesty. So they continue to put efforts
earnestly. When they fail to do so, they get
embarrassed. They put in everything they have to
achieve and uphold their position. They exert great
control over their emotions and are seen in their
ability in not letting people know about their feelings
and ambitions. They hide it like Belladonna.
70. CASE IV
71. Mrs S, a lady aged 40 was suffering from anxiety
neurosis and had numerous other problems. At times
she had pains behind the ears, at times in the hips
and at other places. The pains suddenly ceases with
a fit of anxiety (ghabrahat). She had been to so many
doctors, but when she came to me she was in a mood
to quarrel but laughing simultaneously.
72. “I do not know how many doctors I will have to
visit; you people do not give me relief but only make
money” and she laughed. All this she said without a
tinge of anger.
73. If we join three rubrics:

amazing. The patient suffering from such discord was
settled with a single dose only.

temerity in his attitude especially in extending
services to others. She sacrifices a lot for others. She
shares her possessions and everything else readily.
Not only does she share but she shows no hesitation
while doing so. She feels that she has enough of
stamina and body. What is it that makes her do so?

84. CASE V
85. A young lady, aged 22 years, had recurrent
jaundice since the last two years. She took various
treatments but couldn’t get relief. She is working in an
MNC and simultaneously completing her higher
studies. To get better opportunities she has sacrificed
proper food and care for herself resulting in ill health.
She is only after having a successful career. She
wants to have a top position in the company at the
cost of her health. But her best efforts are not enough
to push her through. “I have been to hospitals many
times but my health does not improve. What do I have
to do? I have lost my health. I doubt whether I will be
cured?” She added, “I am very unfortunate. I have
been doing my level best but it is very difficult to clear
my examination, moreover I got bed ridden, I have
been imposed with a lot of food restriction and I am
grief stricken about my condition. I think instead of
improving my career I will lose the job I have in hand.”
86. ANALYSIS: Here again her ambition got top
priority. She is allured by the social position at the
cost of her health. But to achieve it at any cost has
become her objective. Due to her bad health it has
become difficult for her to make both ends meet. Even
then it is not possible for her to get through her
aspirations. A feeling of being unfortunate came in
that she is not a lucky person. All the problems in life
are being faced by me:

89. Along with failure, her health is also creating a lot
of problems. Despite taking treatment from hospitals
and various doctors her problem of recurrent jaundice
has brought a sense of hopelessness,
discouragement and doubt of recovery. She felt like
she has ruined her health. Moreover the disease has
become an authority which doesn’t listen to her and
that’s why she cried.

97. A dose of Staphysagria 30 brought back all her
confidence and settled her health problems. Her
appetite and sleep improved within no time and her
efficiency and clarity in the mind also increased which

98. So in many ways we can see that Staphysagria
exercises control over himself. He just hides his real
intentions and inhibits himself, makes a lot of
sacrifices for others sake, tries and tries again to do
things or achieve things in a nice way. But,
nevertheless, depending on threshold of a particular
individual such repeated failures can give such a jerk
to the person that he may lose his self-control and
then the inner most unsaid layer is exposed. It is to
the credibility of Dr Sanjay Sehgal who taught this
aspect of the drug so beautifully. He has made all the
things so crystal clear.

101. A young boy of 26 years consulted me for
backache. He was brought to me by his mother and
his aunt. He told me that he is a spastic child. He has
had a number of problems in the past. He had
undergone a surgery of his back to relieve the
spasticity of the back muscles. No doubt it helped him
up to some extent. But his problems persisted. The
pain remained and gradually the patient became
unable to sit for a long period of time. After a short
while he has to lie down but it is not possible for him
to lie down everywhere. He has been doing Chartered
Accountancy so that he could earn a very good
income from home. Gradually, the speed of all his
activities slowed down. He cannot write fast enough.
He is always very late. The biggest problem he has
been facing for last few years is, he can’t write fast
enough to finish his examination. Secondly, sitting for
three hours at one stretch is not possible for him. To
clear every semester it takes him three years. A lot of
time is being wasted like that. His efficiency has also
decreased. Somehow or the other he would manage
to cope up with the circumstances. But now the
authorities do not allow him extra time for writing or to
take a pause in between his examinations. His career
is at stake.
102. I asked him, “CA is a very tough course even for
a normal person. Why did you choose this line?”
103. He answered “No doubt, it is tough, but earlier I
wasn’t in so much trouble. After my surgery I got
weak and I don’t have much stamina. I always felt that
my decision is perfect because my mother is a great
support, and has always encouraged me to face
difficulties. I am doing it to make my future
comfortable.”
104. I questioned, “A CA has to visit many places, has
to make contacts in society and it involves a lot of
mental and physical effort which you are not capable
of putting in.”
105. He explained, “I know, but, despite all adversities
I feel once I become a CA, I would make such an
arrangement that the people would visit me instead of
me going to them.”
106. He further added, “My mother is my driving force.
She has been very considerate, always inspiring me.
She is always with me, I am never alone. She has
never left me alone. Without her I am nothing. The
kind of care and compassion she had given me is
exceptional and only a few can get it. I too am very
much attached to her and relaxed when I am with her.
But recently she is not keeping good health and now it
is my turn to take care of her. I want to extend the
similar kind of gesture towards my parent.”
107. I asked him, “How she can be with you
everywhere? When you are in the examination hall or
on the field, she can’t go everywhere with you.”
108. He said, “Yes, but it is the words of my mother
which invigorates me. But since my last surgery I am
shattered. My condition is not good enough to take
care of myself, how I can serve my beloved parents. I
abuse myself. My decisiveness has reduced
considerably. During my examination when I attempt
questions, I get confused whether I am doing right or
wrong. Sometime I feel it is right and then wrong. In
this process I lose a lot of time. The future seems
bleak. The kind of intellect I used to have is no more
there. There seems to be no solutions for my health
problems. I am all muddled up.”
109. During the whole discussion there was no anxiety
on his face. On the contrary he kept on laughing
throughout the case taking.
110. “I was never worried about my health before. But
ever since I found myself incompetent in all the fields,
it is obvious for one to get worked up. Secondly, my
parents are getting older and not going to live along
with me all along is a fact of life. The odds against me
are slowly taking me into its grip. If I cannot even write
or move or unable to do anything what would be my
fate.”
111. CASE ANALYSIS:
112. This young boy was given Silicea 6, one dose
which brought about some remarkable changes. The
back pain reduced. His speed in his activities
improved, the confusion and duality of his mind
cleared. His mind got a lot of clarity and he got very
positive towards life and he got through in his
examination.
113. Silecea individuals are, in fact, very aggressive
and competitive but lack the courage, to put up their
feeling before others. At the same time they have a
great respect for their feelings and they stick to it and
do it the way they like. Their self esteem is very high.
When someone very reliable or nearby give them
support then the story comes different.

in his field. The sense of perfection is there because
all his things are done with due care. The way he
does anything is perfect and is right. This strong
feeling gives him courage or rather the audacity to
take up challenges and face difficulties. But Silicea is
very coarse in texture. It does not have such strength
to stand on its own. It needs to be held together with
cement to be so strong. Once it gets mixed with
cement then its strength increases many folds.
118. Like our patient, being so physically challenged

problem which apparently has got no solution, but on
the contrary is likely to deteriorate further, took up the
challenge of pursuing a career as a CA which needs
stupendous mental and physical effort. He took it up
just because of the inspiration he drew from his
mother who is his driving force. Right through from his
junior classes up to his Higher Secondary (12th
standard), the same inspiration helped him and he got
through all the examinations admirably and never felt
anything too difficult to achieve. Moreover his strength
and ability over shadowed the physical incapacity.

morale and backed him up very strongly, he looked
forward and things happened the way he wishes. No
doubt, the efforts to overcome difficult matters are
done on the part of the patient as sincerity and
elegance are always the inseparable assets of the

sticks to it which brings some adversities as well. In
fact left on their own they are least confident. ‘A want
to confident’ is always there. The earlier stage is
further heightened.
128. A change in attitude ensures that conditions of
failure are bound to be there. It is the last thing to be
tolerated. As the patient progresses into higher
studies and the physical and the mental condition not
being conducive for him, things stop happening his
way, which is not at all bearable. This gives him a
reminder of his limitations. Professional studies are
not easy and it is not a place that his mother may be
of help. So here the support, the protection, the
driving force is no more with him. Here he has to face
challenges all alone. And when his mother or the
parent needed his service he found himself incapable.
Earlier, when the mother was strong enough the
ambition was flying high. Now the battle is to be
fought all alone which is a great problem for him.

him like they could earlier.

because of his reverence for the people around. They
are so self willed, never take up the confrontation.

conviction. Because, once the image has been
established in society he doesn’t want to lower it.
Relinquishing his CA course makes all the difference
to his image. But after the medicine he could get
through his exams very nicely.

189. An old lady consulted me for various problems
like hypertension, allergic rheumatoid arthritis, a very
severe asthmatic problem, eye problem, pain in chest
etc. She had been to many doctors allopathic,
ayurvedic and homoeopathic as well. But she was not
satisfied. She has been suffering for the last 10 years.
190. I took the case and prescribed her a medicine.
The result was that she got relief in all her problems
except her asthma. I tried to continue the remedy
thinking that when she got relief in her other problems,
she would get relief in her asthmatic problem as well.
But the outcome did not satisfy her. She, time and
again, insisted on me to cure her asthmatic problem
and leave the other ailments aside. I took rubrics like
her being indifferent to her recovery and some other
indicated rubrics. But it did not work. One day she told
me that she only wants relief from her respiration
problem. It was so severe that she could not even
walk down a step. “Especially in the morning when
everybody needs me, I cannot walk. So far, I have
been managing somehow. But if I get fully dependent,
who will look after me. Give me such a medicine so
that I should be alright and I should in position to work.
I am worried about myself.”

are so severe that it renders the patient totally bed
ridden. The patient is in such a condition that she
cannot make even the smallest of movement which is
the worrying point for the patient. She is not bothered
about the rest of complaints as they do not render her
so incapable. This is the one thing that is most
troublesome. At the same time she feels angry when
her condition makes her realize that a day would
come when she would be completely bed ridden.
