Sensible Heating

It is the process of increasing the enthalpy/heat content of

air within the conditioned space due to an increase in its
DBT. The Humidity of the process remains unchanged.

T1 T2
Sensible Cooling
It is the process of lowering the enthalpy/heat content of
air within the conditioned space due to a decrease in its
DBT. The Humidity of the process remains unchanged.

T2 T1
Humidification
It is the process of increasing the enthalpy (heat content) of the
conditioned space by an addition of moisture (humidity).
The DBT of the space remains unaffected by Humidification.

T
Dehumidification
It is the process of decreasing the enthalpy (heat content) of the
conditioned space by a removal of moisture /lowering of humidity.
The DBT of the space remains unaffected by Humidification.

OD Air at 45°C DBT & Humidity Ratio 20 g/kg is processed in a SAC @10 kg/min to
25°C DBT & Humidity Ratio 10 g/kg.
Calculate: a. Cooling capacity of the system = m(h1-h2)
b. Condensate removed per min = m (w1-w2)
c. SHF = SH/(SH+LH)

First write down the mass rate in kg/s

Mass rate m = 10 kg/min = 10/60 = 0.16 kg/s

Mark points 1 & 2 on the chart

Mark point 3 on the chart nest.
Mark & list out the values of h1, h2 & h3.

Then do your computations as shown in the diagram

h1=97 KJ/kg
Cooling Cap of SAC h3=71 KJ/kg
= m (h1-h2)
= 0.16 kg/s. (97-51) KJ/kg
= 7.36 KJ/s = 7.36 KW
= 7.36/3.5 = 2.1 TR 1
SHF h2=51 KJ/kg W1=20g/kg
SH=h3-h2=20KJ/kg
LH=h1-h3 = 26KJ/kg
SHF = SH/(SH + LH)
SHF = SH/TH
SHF = 20/46 = 0.43 = 43%
Condensate removed
=m.(W1-W2)
=0.16 kg/s . 10 g/kg
=1.6 g/s W2=10g/kg
