Jane: So, Ophelia, it’s really nice to meet you. Is that your real name, by the way?

Ophelia: Yes, I’m afraid it is. Of course, everyone knows Ophelia is a character in a play by
Shakespeare. My parents loved the name, so now it’s mine too.

Dear Jackie,

Thanks a lot for your letter. I’m glad to you got married. How are you? Do you also like novel or
comic?

I would like to tell you about the book called Harry Potter, which is a fantasy novel, written by the
British author J. K. Rowling. It’s one that I can reread time and time again. The book describes the life
of a young wizard named Harry Potter and his two best friends, Ron and Hermione. Harry has to
struggle to kill the Dark wizard Lord Voldemort, whose aim is to become immortal and destroy all
those who stand in his way of ruling the world.

The reason why this book comes to mind is that it is a reminder of my childhood. It was a gift for my
birthday from my parents to reward my high score in an exam at school. Up until now, I can still
remember clearly how fascinated I was when I received it.

Thanks to this book, I realized that determination and effort play essential roles in achieving my
goals. Since then, I have always worked hard to overcome all obstacles and challenges in my life.

Harry Potter will always be on my to-read list for a number of reasons. Firstly, I have always been a
great admirer of science fiction books so I love the way that the author describes the whole magical
world with the magic school, Hogwarts, and the flying brooms. Secondly, reading this book not only
helps me to relax after a long day of work or study but also cheers me up whenever I am feeling
blue.

In this summer, I invite you to stay at home with my family for a week to travel at Phu Quoc Island.

I hope you would not disappoint me.

It was broad daylight and lots of people were out shopping in Northampton city
centre on Saturday. Suddenly, a gang of six criminals attacked a jewellery shop.
They were wearing black jackets and black ski hats to hide their faces.
Their plan was to smash the big glass windows of the jewellery shop, steal as much
valuable jewellery as they could and then quickly escape on motorbikes before
anyone could do anything. They thought that nobody would stop them. But they
were wrong.
As the gang were smashing the window, a seventy-year-old woman saw what they
were trying to do. She ran up to them and started hitting the men on the head with
her handbag. The men were very surprised when they saw that their attacker was
an old lady. They were so shocked that they dropped the jewellery and tried to run
away. But now other shoppers had seen what was happening and came to help the
old lady. The shop assistants locked the shop and called the police. Four of the men
were arrested.
The whole incident was filmed on the mobile phone of a passer-by. He put the film
on the Internet and the story was in all the newspapers: ‘Granny stops armed
robbers’. And what about the old lady? Nobody knows who she is! Police
questioned people at the scene, but they said she had gone to have a cup of tea
and then quietly disappeared.

to tell youabout a famous legend in my country, it is the about watermelon, a
delicous kind of fruit.
According to the legend, in the 17th King Hung period, there was a handsome,
agile, resourceful boy, adopted by the Kinh Hung as his son and named Mai An
Tiem. He was beloved by the King and was arranged to marry the Princess. Mai An
Tiem once displeased the King and was exiled to an uninhabited island.
One day, while going around to look for wild vegetables, he came across a bird
eating a strange red fruit. When he tasted it, he found it fresh and delicious. Mai An
Tiem and his wife immediately planted seeds everywhere. Soon the plant was
growing more fruitful, the rind thinning, and the fruit grew redder and sweeter. An
Tiem named this fruit a watermelon and often carved words on the fruit and floated
it on the sea in the hope that a merchant boat would pick it up and exchange food
and rice for his family.
In the mainland, King Hung was offered this strange fruit. When he ate it, it was very
sweet and cool, so he asked the origin. When he learned that the fruit was grown by
An Tiem on the island, the King welcomed An Tiem and his wife back to the
mainland. When returning, An Tiem and his wife brought a lot of seeds to distribute
to their relatives and taught them how to plant and fertilize watermelons.
Since then, Mai An Tiem was considered the ancestor of watermelon farming and
the discover of Nga Son land, Mai An Tiem’s watermelon became famous in Nga
Son, Thanh Hoa.
Nowadays, in Nga Phu commune, Nga Son district, Thanh Hoa province, there is a
mountain range named Mai An Tiem and known as the island An Tiem and his wife
lived in the past. At the mountain foot, there is Mai An Tiem temple and the local
people hold an annual festival from the 12th to the 15th day of the third lunar month.
