An International Journal Based on the Pandemic

The article, “Validation of the Fear of COVID-19 Scale in a US College Sample,” is an

international journal that focuses its purpose on the medical field. As an emphasis, an

international journal is a journal in which multiple authors and editors will contribute their

perspectives and expertise but are all from different parts of the world. Ultimately, the people of

the journal are internationally diverse (Perez et al.). In other words, these authors and editors are

from several unique areas of the globe. For instance, these people could be from different

countries, states, and continents. This is what makes an international journal so diverse and open

to multiple perspectives from people all over the world. Moreover, this international journal is

peer-reviewed because it is a journal that consists of multiple people. Put it another way, since

many people contribute to the journal it can be assured that these people are experts in their field

of study. In addition, this journal is only accessed by those that are professionals in the medical

field (Perez et al.). Lastly, this international cites multiple references that have also been peer-

reviewed which adds to the credibility of their work.

Nevertheless, the purpose or thesis of this specific section of the journal is to mention all

the repercussions and causes that were witnessed because of COVID-19. Furthermore, the

authors of this journal mention not only health-related issues with this pandemic but also how

many other things saw a dramatic change (Perez et al.). For instance, many small and even large

businesses had to close down because of government-issued precautions. Additionally, another

big change was seen when several school districts around the world had to switch to a virtual

setting to avoid in-person contact because of the pandemic (Perez et al.). Evidently, the authors

of this journal support this thesis by proving several studies in which they conducted experiments

based on before and after results of the pandemic. The information presented is also cited to

show credibility and that what is being said is factual (Perez et al.). Lastly, several charts and

tables show the results of these studies and what was concluded from them.

With that being said, it can be inferred that the main audience of this journal are those

that either have questions about COVID-19 or were present in the experiments conducted. In

other words, the majority of people who would read this journal are either curious about the virus

they suffered or those that aided to assist in the studies conducted. Likewise, the authors also

used several methods to answer their hypothesis. Firstly, their methods were divided into

sections that targeted several different people from unique cultural, social, and economic

backgrounds (Perez et al.). For example, some methods used in this journal were to conduct a

survey that consisted of several questions that all relate to the virus and how it affected

individuals (Perez et al.). Overall, the internal journal, “Validation of the Fear of COVID-19

Scale in a US College Sample,” is about the changes and effects of the pandemic that was

suffered by many all over the globe.
