Tutoring Session Plan Anecdotal Notes

**Isaiah has been taken out of the program and I have been given a new
Read Aloud with Comprehension & Tier 2 Word student for the remainder of the tutoring program. The lesson that I planned
today was for Isaiah’s learning level so I used some of the items that I
planned for Isaiah as well as incorporated some time into the lesson to get to
know the student.

A Visitor For Bear By Bonnie Becker The Student loved reading this story and he was very interactive. He loved
looking at the pictures and comparing them to what was read to him. He is
defintily more responsive than Isaiah and understands more about reading
concepts.

Writing

Write one sentence about how what mouse and bear did in the When the student was given the opportunity to write on his own he struggled
story. with words that he did not know. I knew that he had some trouble with word
recognition but I wanted to see what he could do on his own. He was unable
to sound out words and he used many letters that had the incorrect sound but
it made sense for why he used them. I know from this activity that we will be
practicing letter sound recognition.

Student Reads

Reader for the teacher The student struggled reading the story on his own. I went through and helped
him with words that he did not know and let him try words that he was
familiar with. He would often guess words and would become somewhat
frustrated when he did not know a word but he still tried on his own.
Word Study

Sight Word Hunt For this activity I had sight words written randomly on a page in different
colors. I would pull a card from a stack and I had the student cross out all of
the words on the card chosen. I used the sight words that I was working on
with Isaiah before. The student seemed to enjoy this activity and was very
interactive.

Sight Word Matching This activity helped the studetn become familiar with the sight words that we
were working on. It did not depend on his level of learning but it provided
him with constant recognition of the words we were using.

Repeated Reading

Don’ t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus To finish off the lesson, I read this interractive story with the student. I did
not want to overwhelm the student on his first session. He seemed to interact
well with the story. After the story I asked him a few questions about himself.
He does not play any sports and he does not have a specific favirite sport. He
enjoys playing outside with his friends and he loves to annoy his older sister.
He loves school and his favorite subject is science. I know that he will
transition well into the least few tutoring sessions and he seems very willing
to learn.
