The best part of the senior project was having to teach my lessons in class and having to

set up my teachings to the freshman classes, and the worst part was putting in the effort to

create a good lesson. The best part of senior sem was learning more about my classmate's

projects and what they were doing, and my least favorite part was learning all the personal

finance stuff again after I just got done with personal finance in the class.

I think the three things that I learned and took away from doing my project are that both

you and the student need to be able to teach and learn from each other, they learn the

curriculum and the lesson, and you learn how to teach and work with them in the best way.

Another thing I learned is that when you teach, you may need to flex your classes and

schedules for the day depending on how each class learns and functions as a whole and as

individuals. That laying out a lesson plan is fun, but to keep everyone engaged, have different

ways of teaching each class, whether that means finding an interesting video for in-between or

having some interaction.

I felt a stretch was research and lesson plan creation because it was hard to sometimes

find information. It was hard not to put too much information but just the right amount of

information and gauge if they understood what I was trying to say to them. I found that the most

I changed was in public speaking. I felt nervous about speaking, but the more I was teaching, I

became more confident. I also felt I grew as a teacher. In general, I learned the tips and tricks

and how to structure a good lesson.

I would say that this experience hasn’t made me rethink my plans at all just makes me

want to reach my goal of being a great teacher faster. I had a lot of fun doing my project and,

even more, being able to teach kids. I would have taught more if I could change anything, even

though I didn’t need to. I would just want to do more if I could have. I would also have liked to

add more interaction and maybe have stretched my second lesson to two days if I could have.
If I could advise future seniors, start your project sooner than later. I also would just say

to try to enjoy it, sure it ends up going fast, and are excited about your future. I’d also say try not

to slip up or give up because you can do it. Just push through and get your reward to feel that

sense of accomplishment. If I had to grade my project, I’d give myself at least a B+ to an A. I

feel that I did well; I changed my project quite a bit and had help from Mr.Storlie in class on

some occasions, but other than that, I did the rest myself and worked hard to keep the class

engaged and learning.
