Reflection questions

In 1301 it helped me prepare for what college essays were going to be like. Taught me a different

way to write my essays so it would be a lot easier. For example if I was to use an article or a peer

review journal I did not have to read it word by word I could just skim through it and read only

what I needed to know. I was able to use these skills for this first essay. The things I learned in

1301, I don’t think I learned anything that I wouldn’t use in this essay apart from the chapters and

articles we read. I don’t remember any of that. The things I learned from this essay involve a lot

involving the body. I could apply what I learned in this essay to any of my science classes.

Especially in biology, and it helps mostly because I’m a biology major. In biology I have to do

many lab reports, and because essay one was written out pretty much like a lab report it will help

out in the future labs. My first essay was about the body system which most likely won’t help me

with my math classes. It definitely won’t help me with my theater class or my univ class. But it

could help if I need to write any reports.

This experience helped me because I was able to write a journal during the experiment and when

writing the essay it was much easier because I had my journal and I had the two peer review

journals to help me. Most of the time I knew what I had to write. I just had to fill in the blanks. It

will help my writing in the future because now I know a more simple way to write my essay

without being lost half the time. Much of my writing weakness is grammar, other times it’s the

transition from one paragraph to another. Other times it’s just not knowing what to write so I will

rewrite the same things in different ways or just repeat a word or phase. These weaknesses are the

same as the ones I had in 1301. Mostly because it’s always something I’m being told to look out

for by my peers and my professors. I believe that the most challenging part of this essay was

knowing what to write in the sense that it was a walk though not. I couldn’t put any personal
pronouns unless it was something “I” had said. For example, writing about journals.
