Personal Statment

Creativity is everywhere. It's in our song, our dance, film, and art. Creativity can mean whatever
you want it to mean as long as it makes you happy. So what does creativity means to me?
To me, I express creativity through music and dance. I enjoy writing music lately. I've yet
to show the world what I can do but eventually, I plan to make a name for myself. I also really
enjoy dancing. I was on a dance team a few years ago and performed at the Merced fair each
year. Our dance team was called the Diamond Dance Crew and though now-disbanded I
remember how much fun we used to have.
I think one of my biggest creative skills is innovation and determination. If I can't get
something done I won't give up I will find a way. Sometimes it can be frustrating but can give a
sense of accomplishment and excitement. With this skill, I've been able to apply it in my Job at
In-n-out. The fast-paced constant business of the store causes you to think outside the box
when problems arise. It's a real rush and it can be a lot of pressure but I've had fun and have
earned multiple promotions so far and am close, to another. To be honest, I'd be lying if I said I
didn't express my creativity everywhere I go.
When it comes to passions I've never really had a subject I felt passionate about. My
love for sports and basketball has been my only passion and it hasn't been forever. Even though
this, I still hope for a path to the NBA. I have played basketball ever since I could walk and I've
loved the game my whole life. The thing is throughout my years of school I, unfortunately,
haven't stuck with it. Every time I feel I'm getting better I realize a reason I wasn't. This was a
shot to the gut at the time. I was determined to play my Junior year but then COVID happened. I
wasn't able to compete in other ways outside of school because of it. I'm looking forward to my
next opportunity in college and I'm going to take advantage of every second. I'm going to earn
my spot one day I don't care how long it takes because it is what I'm passionate about and I
know what I'm capable of. All this has taught me the real meaning of never giving up. It's a
saying that's thrown around but not truly understood. Before basketball, I was trying every sport
out there trying to find what I loved and I feel I've been doing the same for academics. I'm
hoping that when in college I will be able to find my passion beginning with tech. My goal is to
come back to the personal statement knowing I accomplished my goals.
