Search Mechanisms and Innovation: An Analysis Across Multiple Perspectives

The journal article Search mechanisms and innovation: An analysis across multiple

perspectives speaks on the different perspectives and ways to view different things and ideas.

There are actually a lot of perspectives that the authors include in their article. The perspectives

mentioned in the journal article were taken from different sources. Three perspectives that the

authors discuss are on pages 106 and 107. According to the authors, these perspectives are

“internal and external knowledge search, the recombinant mechanisms and absorptive capacity,

and the influence of search dynamics on the development of radical and incremental

innovations”. Another pair of perspectives were taken from another source that focuses on the

perspectives “entrepreneurship and strategic management”. In the following pages, the authors

include even more perspectives, all from different sources.

The authors’ main point is to discuss and/or investigate the “relationship between search

mechanisms innovation across multiple levels of analysis” (Appio et al. 103). To do this, they

utilize a large number of resources that focus on different perspectives and ideas. The authors not

only elaborate on the different sources and describes the perspectives that are focused on in the

sources, but also creates images and charts to organize the sources into categories. This helps the

readers read the sources a little better and also recognize the categories in which the sources and

perspectives fall under. Although the sources are really close to each other, they are easier to

understand than when they are written in paragraphs.
