Do first: Welcome the class in spanish, (Hola!) This will give students an idea of what culture we will learn about. When
students sit down, I will then pull out a map or globe to show students what country we will be learning about today. I will
show them Latin America and then point to where Mexico is at. (5 minutes)

Mini Lesson: I will show students the Youtube video (6 minutes) to get them to understand a little bit of Mexican culture. I
will then present my powerpoint that will cover more about Mexican culture and traditions. The powerpoint will include
popular Mexican meals and drinks, (this will lead to their guided practice) (14 minutes)

Guided Practice: I will give directions to students on how to make Horchata, they will help each other and take turns with
the directions while I supervise them. Students will not be allowed to use the blender, only teacher or adult. This will allow
students to learn how to make beverage from a different culture and taste it. (20 minutes)

Independent Practice: Students will write a mini summary about what they have learned and compare and contrast some
differences from Mexican culture and their culture. (This will show me if they comprehended the lesson) (10 minutes)

concepts that were taught were the basics of Mexico, such as
60 the history, the flag, traditions, popular foods and drinks, etc.
This gives students the concept that this cultural is different in
their own unique way which promotes multicultural learning.
Students were able to engage by being able to make one of
the cultural’s most famous drink by learning and following
directions. Some strengths would be that students are able to
learn about this particular culture, some weaknesses would be
that there was not enough time to provide every detail about
Mexican culture. Students were only able to learn a few details
from it due to the timespan, but at least they were important
concepts and they were able to see the differences in this
culture compared to theirs.
