Lab: Observing Plankton Part 1

Instructions: You and your group will be observing pre-prepared slides for plankton. For each sample, you
must:

● Observe with the Scanning Objective (the red one!) and draw a picture of it.
● Observe with the Low Power Objective (the yellow one!) and draw a picture of it.
● Use the “Plankton Dichotomous Key” to identify each species of Plankton using your sketches.
● Make a prediction about your sample: is it a Phytoplankton or Zooplankton?
