Direction: Enumeration and Identification

A. Enumerate the objectives of teaching folk dances. Explain each.

OBJECTIVES OF TEACHING PHILIPPINE FOLK DANCES

1. To foster patriotism and nationalism through the study of our dance.

We can show our importance and love to our country through the teaching Philippine
Folk dances. When these folk dances were taught, the students can able to do and recreate
these various dances that they can show how proud we are as Filipinos to have this various
dances not just in the locality but also internationally.

2. To arouse a better appreciation of Philippine music and folk dances.

Since some of the Gen Z people are not active and knowledgeable about the culture of
Philippine Folk dance and music, they can able to appreciate the importance of having these
dances as our treasure and mark being Filipinos.

3. To provide through dancing, a healthful form of relaxation and recreation.

Most of the folk dances contain smooth and graceful body movements that enables the
whole body to relax. These movements help the person to use this dance as their exercise form
to relax and to have fun.

4. To develop graceful and rhythmic coordination of body movements that will improve posture.

Through folk dance, posture will improve as its dance steps needs focus and proper
position to express and show the dance gracefully and effective. It develops the coordination of
body movements by creating the right position for the various dances you will do.

5. To preserve for posterity, folk dances and music indigenous to the different regions of the
Philippines.

Dance keeps the history of people alive as well. Performing folk dances, such in MAPEH,
fiestas and special events keep a culture of people alive, by sharing and teaching younger
generations the dances.

6. To demonstrate the growth of Filipino culture through the evolution of Philippine dances.

Folk dances help the people know what where Filipinos started, and how they show
their culture trough dance. It also shows how Filipinos grow in enriching own culture by its
dance.
B. Identify the dances according to Nature, and give an example of the dance with picture of
each nature.
