A. Answer the following questions briefly and logically:

1. What is the relevance of Technical Writing in your chosen course?

As a civil engineering student, technical writing is crucial to my chosen course as technical

writing is necessary writing skills to impart my ideas and persuade others. Because technical writing
specializes in specific knowledge, generally, in the sphere of science and technology that can be used in
technical documentation, dissertations, and so on.
As Future Engineers, we would responsible for understanding the fundamentals of the field, yet
it is important that we understand and perfect the various types of writing for engineers. These can
include proposals, inspection reports, research reports, specifications, and progress reports. Those
construction writing reports during an engineering project are the detailed reports and methods used in
completing the project, as well as the scope of the work itself. And because when civil engineers write,
we must communicate technical information.

2. Cite some examples of situations showing technical communication is "transactional".

Technical communication can be considered transactional communication when there is a

purposeful exchange between the sender and the receiver that contains relevant data for realistic and
technical reasons (specifically in informing, instructing, persuading, and not for entertaining) and is
generally customized towards the needs of a particular audience. This includes a users guide (step-by-
step instructions, procedures, manuals), online help, technical support, technical or research reports,
proposals and request for proposals (RFPs), technical journalism, product specifications, consumer
literature (information for the public about regulations, safety issues, etc.) and many more.

B. Give an example of writing using any of the basic techniques discussed in Technical Writing. Be
specific about the technique used in writing the task.

Description of a Process is one of the basic techniques of technical writing that has something to do with
the series of actions done. The statements below show the description of the process of cooking a
delicious chicken adobo for your family:

This classic adobo recipe is simple to make and famous with all who have tasted it. It has been modified

#1:
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Then Stir-fry onion and garlic; cook
until they soften and brown, about 3-4 minutes.
Note: Be careful not to burn the garlic and onion. Use a wooden spoon or spatula to keep the
ingredients moving.

#2:
Add the chicken pieces and cook until golden brown on both sides. Then,
pour in 1/2 cup soy sauce, 2 teaspoons black pepper, and 3 bay leaf.

#3:
Then, add 1/2 cup of water. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until the chicken is tender
and cooked through 15-20 minutes.
Note: Add more water to the mixture if you think the dish is too dry.

#4:
Lastly, pour the vinegar and garlic powder and leave the cover open for 2-4 minutes. Serve with steamed
rice or garlic rice.
Note: Spoon the sauce over the chicken. Let it simmer for the rest of the remaining time.
If you like your chicken dry, let it simmer for a little longer.
