The EF01 steals the show!
The Bibendum challenge took place this year in Berlin
at the former Tempelhof airport. Organised by Miche-
lin, this event grouped all the new technologies in the
car sphere and more specifically those devoted to
new propulsion energies.
Supported technically by Motul, the EF01, which is
the first 100% electrically-propelled single-seater, un-
veiled its performances to the visitors to the show
during several test sessions. On a 700-metre-long
narrow and winding track, the EF01 was driven by
Alexandre Prémat, the French driver who will also
wear Motul’s colours at the forthcoming 24 Hours of
Le Mans (Team Oreca Matmut LMP2).

Present alongside prestigious brands like Citroën,
Peugeot, Venturi and Porsche, the EF01, the world’s
fastest electric single-seater, really distinguished
itself by its performances that genuinely promote
clean energies.
The next official runs by the EF01 are expected to
take place in mid-June at the 24 Hours of Le Mans
(as part of the ‘Le Mans vers le futur’ operation during
which cars of the future will perform parade laps) and
then in mid-July around the Kremlin at a road-show
that was officialised in the presence of Formulec
a few days ago in Moscow.

Courageous Michel Fabrizio!

It was already the fifth round of the World Superbike
Championship last weekend on the fast Miller Motors-
ports Park track (Salt Lake City, USA).
After the fine podium at Monza three weeks ago,
Michel Fabrizio, the Italian rider of team Suzuki Als-
tare, for which Motul is a technical partner, was really
motivated to confirm his improved performances on
the GSX-T 1000 which he is getting to know better
and better.
The special climate of this valley in the heart of the Utah
mountains unfortunately dampened his enthusiasm.
With a qualifying day in the rain, Michel, who had very
little experience on his bike in these conditions, didn’t
do better than fourth row of the grid.
The Italian rider was forced to launch a really strong
attack on each of his races on a dry track, which
brought emotions galore once more!
During race 1, he was violently hit by Ruben Xaus on
the 3rd lap. Defying the pain caused by his serious
fall, Michel entered race 2... without having taken any
painkillers!
A courageous decision, but which paid off since his
fierce determination allowed him to climb to 5th place
this time.

Fine 5th place for Nikolett Szántó

After her 5th place in the overall standings of the her car keys to Lakatos Zoli Laky (the rider who had
King of Europe Championship in 2009 and the 3rd just beaten her) after the latter suffered a broken
place she secured at the end of the Gymkhana in engine a few minutes before the final!

Hungarian Drift Championship held in Máriapócs (a
very popular track among drifters), on 20 and 21 May,
the young Hungarian made the very most of the 450
hp of her impressive bike… a BMW Z4 fitted with a
BMW M5 engine !
Despite a few mechanical problems encountered du-
ring the tests on Saturday, Nikolett managed to qua-
lify in the Top 16, then won the Top 16 battle before
bowing out following a slight mistake in her Top 8
duel. Synonymous with an honourable 5th place, this
performance should not obscure the young drifter’s
fair-play : not for one second did she hesitate to lend

French Offroad Endurance Championship

Impressive maiden
performance by Team BTP
Both Motul clients, Jean François Branger and Alain
Thibault participated at the beginning of May in the
6 Hours of Santerre, an event counting towards the
French Offroad Endurance Championship.
At the wheel of their all-new 4-wheel drive BMC pro-
totype fitted with a 2-litre Honda engine and a six
speed sequential gearbox, both managed to over-
come a transponder problem and a faulty windscreen
wiper that refused to work (how useful it would have
been with kilos of mud splattering the windscreen!)
and finally moved up from 16th place to 2nd place
(taking the win in their category) following the six hour
race. The other good piece of news of the weekend
is Alain Thibault’ higher position now in the overall
standings: after taking part in only two rounds, he
now leads the overall standings by 11 points over his
closest contender.

China Touring Car Championship / Zhuhai

The second round of the China Touring
Car Championship (CTCC) was held
on 28 and 29 may at the international
Zhuhai track.
Competing in the 1600cc class, teams
Beijing Hyundai & Haima Family did Mo-
tul proud in the best of ways by securing
all three steps of the podium following a
superb race that was finally won master-
fully by Sun Zheng (team Haima Family).
The latter won just ahead of Liu Yang
and Cui Yue of team Beijing Hyundai.
