Ethics
ACTIVITY # 3

CULTURE IN MORAL BEHAVIOR

My insight from the last topic we discussed is that everyone has a moral and ethical standard. As
I understand from the module I read, each of us in the world has our own definition of what is
right or wrong for us. We cannot criticize each other simply because we hold different beliefs
and perspectives based solely on where we grew up and what we know to be right or wrong.

As a result, ethics believes that the concept of cultural relativism endangers the discipline of
ethics because, if values are relative to a given culture, this must imply that there are no universal
moral absolutes against which people's behavior can be judged.

I also learned that we cannot say that if it is right for us, it is also right for them, particularly
when it comes to religion, because this can lead to misunderstandings. I learned a lot from this
lesson because I learned more about culture relativism and realized that there is no right or
wrong when it comes to morality; rather, we all have our own views that we observe based on
where we grew up and who we socialize with.
