EE – 5377 HOMEWORK 3

Note: Videos will be separately attached on Canvas for each question. Please refer to the video for
proof of the o/p’s.

1. Use IP3416 to design a ladder diagram to control a motor. The

sequence of operation is described as follows:
•The motor is stopped at the beginning of the process
•The motor will start running 5 seconds after the start button is
pushed. (Use a normally open momentary switch)
•The motor will stop immediately if a stop button is pushed. (Use a
normally close momentary switch)
•The motor will stop automatically after 30 seconds of running.

X23 is the start pb(momentary)

X22 is the stop pb(momentary)
Y9 is the o/p
R0 is the internal memory bit used to control the motor!
2. Use IP3416 to design a signal generator that will generate 1 Hz
square wave with 30% duty cycle.

We have used cascading timers to create a blinking led(0.3sec on and 0.7 sec off) to satisfy
the 30% duty cycle and 1hz square wave criterion.

o/p is y8(LED)
3. Use IP3416 and two normally open momentary contact switches to
design a two-way light switch.
RO-R8 are used as internal bits to create the logic.

Y9 is the o/p
X22 and x23 represent two momentary switches in two different locations!!
