I introduction

After studying Business English major at Dong Nai university for 3

years, we taken a field trip.there is a hotel in my town , Dakmil town which
is near my house. With my knowledge on hotel subject at university ,I think
that a receptionist position is suitable for me.
I apply for receptionist position at Hoang Diep hotel. When coming to
meet Mrs Nga, manager of this hotel ,I was very nervuos but she accept my
request .she said that she would help me to complete my apprenticeship.
After that, in 10 weeks, I am a receptionist for Hoang Diep hotel.
Only 10 weeks but I studyed a lot from real working environment. I
applied my knowledge at university on my job. Beside, I had many help
from staff at Hoang Diep hotel. I realize that realty is more interesting than
theory. Now I can work well the job of a receptionist, widen knowledge on
hospitality, practice working style and make friend with someone in Hoang
Diep hotel. After graduating from Dong Nai university, I will confident to
apply for a job in hotel or restaurant.
So apprenticeship is very important for all of student who will graduate
and work for hotels or restaurants.

Hoang diep hotel is found in 2005. it is a family-run hotel. This is the

unique hotel in Dakmil district. It has a convenient position. It lies aside
National Road 14, opposite Tay lake. Beside, it near hospital, market,
culture center and many shops, schools …
Guests stay in Hoang diep hotel can enjoy a clean, quiet space and a
friendly, thoughful staff. The charge is reasonable for every one. High
season is from July to December. In these months, schools in Dakmil district
usually celebrate excellent student contests and ressident celebrate many
wedding. From your room, you can see Tay lake-a nice landscape of
Dakmil district . some Dakmil’s events are celebrated here such as letting off
a few fireworks on Tet holiday, releasing light on the lake on Nguyen Tieu
tet, …
Hoang Diep’s restaurant serves food and drink for guests inside and outside.
The price is reasonable for everyone.

Duties: care for the rooms. When one guest checks out of the room, one
of them must prepare the room for the next guests. Their duties
are change the linens on the beds and disinfect and deodorize
the room; wipe down and polish the headboard, lamps, dresser,
desk and all washable surfaces. In the bathroom: clean shower
area, mirror, vanity top and bathroom floor: remove the towers
and replace them. If guests stay over for more than one night,
the chambermaid will cater to their needs, coming it to clean
their room. But she makes sure not to disturb the guest’s
belongings and respond to any special request.

 III. my works at Hoang Diep hotel

Week 1:
On the first day , at 9 p.m, I met Ms. Nga at lobby of Hoang Diep hotel.
I gave her the recommend paper of Dong Nai university, she asked me
what I could do in her hotel and she said that her hotel didn’t have foreign
guests. I offered her to work as a receptionist in this hotel. She said” in
these months, Hoang Diep don’t have many guests and I have already had
three receptionists. So you shoult go here for one, two or three days a week
depen on my arrangement.”
After that she gave me some information about the hotel and she request
me to remember them. They are important not only for my report but also
for a receptionist in Hoang Diep hotel. She appointed me for a meeting on
Friday 18th. On that day, she would check my report and if I have any
questions about the hotel , she would answer and she would assign for me
some tasks next week. She also advice me to practice type skills.
From Monday to Friday, I didn’t go to the hotel. I used Mrs. Nga’s
information to write this report and practised general computer skills
including word, excel, typing. I also reviewed knowledge about reception’s
jobs on text books and on the internet. I also called for my classmate Bang
who was being a receptioist for Whoosho hotel in Bien Hoa city. He told
me his job in that hotel. It gave some imagine on receptionist’s job.
On the first week, I had reviewed the knowledge on general computer,
and oter skills of a receptionist such as communication skill, solving
problems, …
On Friday, I had appointment with Mrs. Nga. She arranged me go to
work on next Thursday, Friday and Saturday. My duties for these days are
make procedure on chacking in and out for guests.
The first week ended.
