Notes
1. Refractory Period (Na) and (K) restores original balance for a neuron to be able to process a
stimulus and it has to be at resting potential.
2. Terminal Buttons are fluid filled with sacs. The signals reach the end allowing terminal
buttons to pour the fluid in the space between neurons.
3. Synaptic cleft is the space between the neurons, Presynaptic Neuron is the neuron that sends
out information and the Postsynaptic Neuron is the neuron that receives information.
4. Neurotransmitter: It is the fluid released by the synapse. Acetylcholine, Monoamines, and
Catecholamines are the 3 neurotransmitters. Gases also act as neurotransmitters. Each
neurotransmitter controls a different behavior.
5. Receptor sites: Each neuron has receptor sites on it. It is the space where neurotransmitters
are received. Each neurotransmitter has its own receptor city for ex another neurotransmitter
such as dopamine cannot attach to the receptor.
