 Why does biodiversity need to be conserved?
Biodiversity conservation, the practice of protecting and preserving the wealth and variety
of species, habitats, ecosystems, and diversity on the planet, is important for our health,
wealth, food, fuel, and services we depend on. It plays an important role in supporting
many sectors of development. Healthy ecosystems clean our water, purify our air, maintain
our soil, regulate climate, recycle nutrients, and provide us with food. They provide raw
materials and resources for medicines and other purposes. They are at the base of all
civilization and sustain our economies.
List of causes in the degradation of ecosystems:
 Land and soil degradation: Excessive use of fertilizers and pesticides, leaks from
landfills. Degradation of soil quality from poor farming practices.

 Water degradation: Water pollution by garbage dumped in the oceans.

 Atmospheric degradation: This includes air degradation, particle pollution and

the depletion of the ozone layer.

 light pollution: Light pollution corresponds to the modification of the natural

darkness of the night, generated by outdoor lighting, which generates impacts on
the health and life of living beings.

 Deforestation: is the cutting down of trees to make way for more homes and
industries.

Fortunately there are numerous solutions to preserve and restore natural wealth
is in our hands.

1. Strengthening and creating protected áreas, Oasis, mangroves, mountains, plains

with high biodiversity.

2. Educate people in ecology and environment, beyond the natural sciences course,
the objective is to strengthen the persons commitment to their natural environment.

3. Manage fire responsibly, the biggest threat to forests is fire.

4. Support conservation organizations.

5. Warning activities that threaten biodiversity, to the authorities with environmental

competence, or directly to the national pólice.
