WRITING A STORY

Description You're going to write a story about a good or bad day that you had when
you were a child. It can be real or imaginary. Write around 150-200 words.

Use the questions below to help you to write your story:

▪ When did it happen?


▪ Where did it happen?
▪ Who was there?
▪ What happened before?
▪ What happened in the end?
▪ Why was it good/bad?
▪ How did you feel?
▪ How did other people feel?

Remember to:
● Give your story a title.
● Give enough information to set the scene (e.g. It was a cold winter
day….).
● Make your story interesting for the reader.
● Use appropriate past tenses to describe what happened.
● Use appropriate linkers and time expressions (Then, after, before, etc.)
to show the order of the events.
● Include some adverbs (e.g. angrily, calmly, etc.) / adjectives (e.g.
amazing, surprising, etc.) to describe actions/feelings.

Outcomes Can write a story with a simple linear sequence.
